It's been a REALLY long time since I've done anything with this story. I re read it- after getting over my initial irritation with my writing back then -and realized it was almost finished anyways. So, why not? It's not a very long chapter, probably not too exciting, but I don't care too much anymore. This story doesn't have any plot left, and like most of my first several stories on here, it's almost exactly like the movie anyways. Which is really boring to write. So, I'll make a few more chapters for this and move on. One more story to check off my list and feel mildly proud of myself... despite the fact I've continued to post new ones anyways.
For the first time in a long time, I hope you enjoy this chapter. I don't own TF.
I know there are just these universal laws now. Sure, they're more apparent in books and movies, but clearly they hold true in real life too. Anytime somebody says 'nothing will go wrong', no matter how confident they are or how much planning they've done, they condemned everything with those four words.
Nothing's gone right.
Optimus is fighting Megatron, trying to keep him back and distracted away from the heart of the battle. The soldiers and Ironhide are preoccupied with two or three Decepticons on their own, not holding very well I might add, and there's a pretty much full guarantee that Jazz is freaking out. He's helping Ironhide and the soldiers in the meat of the battle, though I've caught sight of him holding his ground in front of a few buildings that were still evacuating. The plan was to go straight through the city, to draw it away, and throw them off a bit. And based on what they understand about what happened in my dreams, we made it farther than the version of myself they're familiar with had made it in his first life.
But you know, that isn't even the worst part. I have no idea where Bumblebee is. He's gone, disappeared, and I can feel him trying to block off the link to avoid distractions. Wherever he is, he's fighting someone.
Then there's me, just standing in the middle of the street, somewhere behind the front lines, with the very object I wasn't supposed to have. No. Jazz doesn't have the Allspark, and he wasn't driving the other direction with it just like Bumblebee wasn't speeding off with me to avoid all of this altogether. And why might you ask? Well, I'm sure the real reason is because the jet they called Starscream attacked us and forced us to stand our ground when he tried to bomb a building full of civilians.
I'm pretty sure it's because Optimus said nothing would go wrong.
"Sam! Run!" Someone, either Ironhide or Ratchet, shouted at me. I looked up and around, trying to figure out where to run. There isn't anywhere to run! Ahead there's them, fighting, and sometimes they move to the left and right. Behind me is a bunch of rubble from a blown apart building, and farther down that direction is Optimus and Megatron.
I heard something in the air, and before I could turn in time to even see what it was, someone had launched themselves over me, grabbing me, and there was an explosion. I was in the air, still in someone's grip. Holding the Allspark tightly, I looked around quickly, waiting to hear one of them reprimand me for not running like I'd been told.
I was met with a pair of red optics.
"Insect! Thank you for keeping it for me..." The Decepticon, I think that's Starscream, was trying to pry it out of my arms. But I thrashed out, not releasing my grip. He couldn't even get a good grip on it to pull, and he was quickly getting frustrated with me.
"Bumblebee!" I shouted out, wondering where that Camaro had gone.
Something wacked into the back of Starscream's head, and his grip on my loosened momentarily. Someone pulled me away- it was Ratchet -and he was running with me the other direction. Someone started shooting, so he came sliding to a stop, crouching, and dropped me closer to the line of buildings, behind some fallen something or another that was once part of another building on down the street.
"Run." Ratchet insisted, waving me off and turning to fire back. Ironhide was on Starscream's back, trying to plow him into the ground, and I seen Jazz dancing around with two other Decepticons while the soldiers shot.
I groaned and rolled onto my feet, taking off down the alley way and running in a direction I hoped was somewhat safe. I broke through to the next block over, where there were still a few civilians huddled on the far side of the street, watching with wide eyes, thinking they were safe.
I stopped in the middle of this clean, unbroken street and stared at them like they were crazy. "What are you doing? Get out of here!" I shouted.
They took off running down the street, away from the direction Optimus and Megatron were- wait a moment. The buildings are tall enough, I'm sure I wouldn't be able to see them all too well anymore, but weren't they on top of the buildings? Where did they go? I don't see any sign of aggression over there at all!
A deafening roar came from the building I had just run around to get to this street. I looked up sharply, seeing Megatron perched up there, glaring down at me. "Bring the Cube to me!" He insisted, before swinging down and making to land practically on top of me.
But I took off along the face of said building, hoping to dip back between the narrower alley and back into the other street before he caught me. "Can't catch me, can't catch me." I was breathing heavily with all this running, and I was about ready to find a hole, hide in it, and wait until it's all over.
Megatron was trying to tear through the buildings, widening the alley to go after me. Two more seconds and he would have gotten me, but thankfully, somebody grabbed at me and the weirdest thing happened- and that's saying something all things considered!
Without much warning, I was suddenly in the interior of a familiar silver car.
"Change of plans." Jazz told me. "I'm taking you and the Allspark both as far from here as possible." He was easily breaking whatever speed limit used to be enforced on this damaged road. And I, not wearing a seatbelt like the little rebel child I was, twisted around to stare through the back window to see Megatron crashing back into this road. Optimus was waiting, returning from whatever distraction he'd been in, and tackled Megatron down.
"Where's Bee?" I demanded, not taking my eyes off those two leaders.
"One street over, opposite way you went off." Jazz was weaving between wreckage, and we were out of the damaged part of the city now. "Barricade and Bonecrusher dragged him off."
"Shoot, shouldn't we be helping?" I asked, getting back up since I was knocked into the passenger seat when he'd been turning sharply.
"No. Not back there at least. The most you can help is to get that Allspark out of here."
"And taking it this way is just going to drag the battle after it." I objected, looking down at it.
"But we're spreading their forces out. Hold on." He warned, just before making a sharp turn at unsafe speeds, getting on a new street. Some flying Decepticon, I have no idea who it was, just about intercepted us and overturned us. Instead, there was just a large gash in the road.
"Jazz, let me out." I scooted back into one of the seats normal. "Pull over, you at least need to be helping. I can run."
"And running is faster than driving?" He scoffed.
"And driving is more helpful than kicking Decepticon butt?" I challenged.
"I've got my orders. I'm getting you out of the city." He insisted.
"You're supposed to have the Allspark, and Bee's supposed to have me."
"Bumblebee's busy right now." He insisted.
The Decepticon had returned, and this time he didn't warn me before swerving into the other lane to avoid the Decepticon landing where we would have been. But we didn't miss him completely; as he landed he swung some mace-like weapon around and knocked it into the side of Jazz's vehicle form. We went spinning one direction, up onto the sidewalk, slowing, before he gained control again and tried to take off. But we'd been slowed down enough for the Decepticon to come back around and tackle us.
The door popped open and I jumped out, rolling on the pavement and back onto my feet, still running.
Over my shoulder, I looked back at Jazz- now transformed -to see him successfully fighting back and holding the Decepticon off.
"Shoot shoot shoot." I shook my head, turning forward again. "This is not going to end well."
"No. It's not." Another Decepticon- Starscream again -landed right in front of me. I slid to a stop, looking up at him and gulping. "Hello, insect."
"Hey there worm." I retorted, my feet frozen where they were and I was no longer able to feel my heart beating. I'm going to die. Things are different from the version of these events that the Autobots know about, and I'm going to die.
"Sam DUCK!" Bumblebee was back. He not only shouted that at me, but opened the flood gates and gave me the gut-wrenching urge to fall flat on the ground, face first into the cement, and stay there. Needless to say, I fell so fast I probably gave myself a few bruises. Overhead, Bee was firing from his cannon at Starscream, who hadn't been prepared and was thrown back. However, as Bumblebee reached me and released the overkill sense of ground-hugging, Starscream was getting back on his feet and was launching himself forward. Bumblebee, who was right beside me now, was tackled backwards.
I watched with wide eyes as Starscream managed to pin him down, a weapon pulled on Bumblebee's neck, and the both of them froze.
Starscream turned to me. "All of your friends are busy elsewhere. Lord Megatron wanted to keep the human as a pet, but even he is too busy right now. I'll give you one chance to hand the Allspark over, or you and your precious Autobot friend will both depart." Starscream was laughing like he'd won. "I'll take the Allspark from your remains."
Bumblebee turned his head toward me, but he was terrified for me. He couldn't move an inch, and even Jazz was dragged away from this street now. I don't know where he'd gone, but I hope he's alright.
The pull, that first thing I felt from knowing Bumblebee, started up again. Come closer. Come towards him. Don't run away. I walked closer, slowly, trembling.
We'd talked about what had happened in the other version of these events. What was supposed to happen. The Sam they'd known was supposed to put this thing in Optimus's spark, but he put it in Megatron's instead. We talked about it, because it was an option this round too. And if I know anything about what Bumblebee was insisting to me, as that pull was dragging me slowly closer, cautiously, despite the fact he so obviously wanted me to start running again, I know he wants me to put it in his spark.
Starscream shifted closer, clearly pleased with himself, but kept his weapon on Bumblebee. "Good, good. Perhaps I'll kee-" He started to taunt me, but was cut off as Bumblebee jerked one leg up and knocked Starscream away from his torso, but that made him topple over closer to me. In a swift motion, Bee tried to grab out at me while Starscream swung his weapon down. "No!"
I dodged Bumblebee and thrust the Allspark toward Starscream, not really sure how this was supposed to be done, but aiming for his chest anyways.
In an instant, it was done. Megatron wasn't dead; Starscream was. I don't know if all the other Autobots made it through this, but the Allspark didn't.
The Allspark was gone, and the entire street had frozen... but I could still hear the fighting back behind us. They didn't know. They had no idea there was nothing left to fight over.
Really, I apologize for these long- super long -waits and then not produce something extraordinary. But, if you really want something above par, then think of the wait on these stories, and the 'eh' quality they are as suspenseful build up for my new ones which- I swear -are actually good. One in particular I am very proud of and will begin publishing as soon as I have all my TF stories on here completed. It is TF, this I swear, and it's a little outside what I normally do, but I can't wait.
Otherwise, there will be one or two more chapters for this one. There will be a resolution here, this I swear. I swore to finish all my stories that were not prefaced with warnings about them never being finished. Unless it states in the first author's note that this is not a story intended to be completed, it will be completed.
Please, review. I know it's been a while, but anyone that is still waiting for these chapters I'd love to hear from you. Happiness I finally posted... irritation I took so long... or just rant to me about spiders for all I care.
