AN- I know I'm awful. I haven't updated in two months. But that's no reason to stop reading or reviewing. So please, read, review, enjoy.

Emily's POV

I woke slowly with a fire in my throat and my head stuffed with cotton balls. My eyes blinked open only to be faced with a damp, gray t-shirt. I finally registered strong arms around me and I looked up slightly, ignoring my stiff neck, and found that it was Kendall who shared the bed with me. A sleeping Kendall no less. His eyes were closed serenely and small puffs of breath exited his slightly parted lips. I could feel his chest rising and falling in time with his breaths. It was all rather adorable once I thought about it.

Not 2 minutes later, the blond next to me woke, his eyes opening slowly. He looked down at me with a small smile.

"You know Em, if you wanted a kiss, you needed only to ask."

I pushed against his chest, annoyed. "You're an idiot."

"Your comebacks, they've been losing their wit." He smirked.

"Watch it, hockey head. I can push you off this bed and I'm pretty sure you don't want to end up on the floor in your current state of unwellness."

He conceded, removing his arms from their position around me and turning onto his back to face the ceiling. I attempted to do the same, but as I turned, my head starting swimming and my intense headache from the previous day returned. Finally, I succeeded and I relaxed on the bed, groaning as I tried to ease my sore head and neck.

"You alright?" Kendall asked me.

"I think I'm on my way to a true, bonafide migraine. All that's missing is the nausea- no, wait, there it is." I sighed as the stomach churning I had been waiting for finally hit.

Kendall winced and turned to look at me. "That's annoying."

"No, Carlos's helmet infatuation is annoying. James's vanity is annoying. Dora's unwillingness to turn around and see what's right behind her is annoying. A migraine on top of mono? That's downright evil."

I stretched out my neck and sat up slowly, then leaned sideways against the wall. Kendall sat up as well, but then proceeded to get out of bed and stumble drunkenly towards the door.

"What are you doing?" I called out weakly.

"Getting you ice for your neck." He said, turning back to look at me.

"Don't bother, it's fine, Get your arse back in bed before you collapse."

Kendall obliged, smothering chuckles. "Arse? What are you, British?"

"I wish."

Logan came in just then. "Morning," He sing-songed.

"Ah, Logan, just the man I was telepathically attempting to contact." I joked weakly. "Can you get me an ice pack?"

"Why do you need an ice pack?" Logan asked, concerned.

"Em's got a migraine." Kendall interjected. "She needs it for her neck."

Logan raised his eyebrows. "And you, Kendall? How are you doing?"

"I'm great." Kendall said. "Healthy as a horse."

"You know," I said tiredly, lying back on Kendall's sheets. "I always thought that was a stupid phrase. Healthy as a horse… There are so many horses that are sick, or injured. You could be healthy as a horse with the flu. Fit as a fiddle is also a strange one. Fiddles aren't fit. They're not living. And even then, there are a bunch of broken fiddles."

Logan and Kendall both stared at me inquisitively. "And… ignoring Emily's migraine induced delirium…" Logan said. "Kendall, for some reason I'm reluctant to believe you."

The blonde rolled his eyes. "Oh, believe me, I'm fine. Just tired. Stupid mono."

Logan smirked. "Riighhht…" He turned back to me. "I'll be back with your ice in a minute, Em."

"Thank you Logie."

He smiled and left the room, slamming the door accidentally behind him, causing me to wince. Kendall turned onto his side, a lazy grin spreading over his face. "Isn't it a lovely day?"

I raised an eyebrow at him. "Kendall, are you sure you're alright?"

"Oh I'm peachy."

I couldn't help laughing at that, sending my migraine into dangerous territory. "Okay, Now I know you're not okay. Who says peachy?"

"I do!" He exclaimed indignantly.

"Since when?"

"Since now!"

I was about to argue my point further when Logan reentered the room with James and Carlos in tow, the latter clutching something wrapped in a pink and blue striped washcloth, which he handed to me.

"There you go." He said. "And ice pack. And what do you know, it's even prewrapped."

I accepted the ice pack from him with a smile, then lifted my head slightly, placing the ice under my neck and laying my head down again. I let out a sigh of relief.

"THANK THE LORD FOR FROZEN WATER AND ITS PAIN RELIEVING PROPERTIES!" I exclaimed loudly, throwing my hands up in victory.

Kendall slapped me lightly. "Em. I love you. Shut up before I kill you. Some of us have headaches."

"AHA! YOU ADMIT IT! YOU DON'T FEEL PEACHY! I KNEW IT!" I sat up straight as I yelled, but immediately regretted it as my slowly fading migraine returned harder than before.

Meanwhile, James, Carlos, and Logan were clutching each other for support as they laughed. "Peachy?" James managed between laughs. "Who says peachy?"

I rolled my eyes as I sunk tiredly back onto my ice pack. "Oh, shut up."

"Ah, so you feel my pain." Kendall sighed.

The two of us yawned simultaneously.

I groaned. "Why am I so tired?"

"It's something called mono." Logan said. "You were foolish enough to contract it. And wouldn't you know it, fatigue is a side effect. Sorry Em. But then again maybe I'm not. I told you kissing was wrong. It's your own fault now."

"If kissing is wrong, why do you want to do it so bad?" I asked the future doctor.

He smirked. "I'm a guy. I'm stupid."

I gave another huge yawn and snorted. "Ain't that the truth."

"Hey Em?" Kendall said.

"Yeah, Kenny?"

"Go to sleep."

I obliged, thinking all the time that if it was the last I did, I'd find out what Kendall was hiding.

Kendall's POV

Once Emily was asleep once more, the guys wasted no time in grilling me.

"Tell the truth Kendall." James said. "How do you feel, honest?"

I rolled my eyes at them. "Guys, I'm fine. Honest."

"Dude, you got stuck with the kissing disease." Carlos pressed. "You gotta be feeling pretty lousy."

"Well yeah, there's no denying the headaches or the sore throat or the drowsiness. But looking at Em, who's absolutely miserable, I feel pretty good. Relatively speaking."

It was impossible to tell them that I actually felt worse than Emily looked. I couldn't let them know. Yeah I'm sick. I can't deny that, my fever speaks for itself. But I'm still Kendall Knight. I'm not supposed to be the weak one. I'm not made to accept help, and comfort. I'm made to give them.

"Kendall," Logan interjected. "You know, it isn't bad to be sick. It's natural. Everyone gets sick sometimes. And when you are, you'll end up worse if you deny it."

"Logan." I retorted angrily. "I'm sick. Yes. But I feel fine." I turned onto my side to face away from the guys. "Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm tired."

I closed my eyes and feigned sleep, waiting for my friends to leave the room.

It wasn't long before my faking became reality and I had sunken into sweet oblivion.

AN- So, another chapter gone. I'm sorry it's been so long, but I've become a bit depressed. I got a 3 on the English Composition AP which is annoying because I got fives on all the practice tests. On the bright side, I got an 1870 on the SAT. And I didn't even study. So there's that. But still… that stupid three… WHY?!

Tell me what you think. I promise I'll get into how they got sick soon. But I swear this story is taking on a life of its own. No idea how that happened. FanFictions aren't supposed to think for themselves. They're supposed to bend to the wills of their authors.

Unfortunately, no one's told them that.
