The god of love stood by the large windows of his little apartment, looking sharply at the moon. He knew it would only be a matter of time before the very room he was standing in turned to hell.
The wind rushed through the dark room, ruffling the curtains with a distinct smell of sea salt. The room erupted with a soft golden glow before it disappeared into the night.
"You're quick, Triton." Eros said to the man who had just appeared behind him.
A silence was all the answer. The two minor gods stood in the dark hall, the moon their only light. Triton hid in the darkness, not wanting to alert Artemis of his presence in Eros' temple. Eros, however, did not care.
"How long do you think they'll take to find out where he is?" Triton asked, seating himself on a chair out of fatigue. The little scuffle he had with his dad had surely tired him out.
"I give them a little over half-an-hour," Eros answered, "Philly is a huge city."
"Not if Ares' kids noticed that little explosion."
"True," Eros contemplated, "Speaking of which, the bronze guards Nike gave him have also molded with him. He's got a shell, as I would say, right under his skin."
"He's going to need all of that," Triton said, laying his head back and closing his eyes, "Especially considering…" He trailed off.
"I know…"
A calm silence soon followed, both gods wondering how Percy was going to deal with no longer having water on his side. They knew he'd kill himself out of depression. Or maybe even become vengeful.
"I really hope that this wasn't part of her plan," Triton said, knowing that the other god was on a similar line of thought.
"I wouldn't be surprised if it was," Eros answered, absent-mindedly massaging the place where his quiver normally was as he looked outside, "Having to pull out my quiver was painful enough for me. A god. Putting him, a demigod, through all of this is just murder."
Triton chuckled, "He's no mere demigod, Eros." A prideful tone lined his voice, "He's a son of the sea. He's my brother." Eros could almost detect the barest hint of jealousy as well, "He's Percy freaking Jackson."
Eros also chuckled, "Does someone envy the demigod?" Triton's reply was only a glare, but it was given with a smirk.
"Maybe a little-"
"Wonderful," A voice said from the doorway of the room, "I always knew you were jealous of my awesomeness."
Triton groaned as he leaned back into the chair, rubbing his face with his palms, "Why didn't you warn me?"
"It is fun teasing you." Eros said with a smile, "So how are you feeling, Perce?"
"Fine." Percy replied, leaning against the wall and flopping down, "Just fine." The earlier smile was still on his face, but both the gods knew that it was all for show. He curled his hand into a fist and smashed it into the ground.
A golden bow sprung out.
"Sorry," Percy apologized to Eros.
"It's alright," Said Eros, not really wanting to sadden the poor demigod, "Just make sure you don't break it. I really don't want to tear my skin apart again.
"You guys have all the fun, don't you?" Triton said, a small smile on his face as he got up, "Acting all hurt." He offered a hand to Percy, "It'd be a sight to see if they found out what really happened in Rockerfeller."
Percy took his hand and helped himself up, "Please, they'd obliterate the lot of you, especially my jealous little brother here."
Triton scowled, softly punching Percy's shoulder. A hollow sound soon followed.
"I figured as such," Eros said, "All the gifts you've been given the last few weeks have become a part o-"
"Given?" Percy asked, confused a little, "I know about Iris's boots and your bow, but the rest?"
A look of hidden panic flashed across Eros' face. Something that did not go amiss to the demigod, nor to Triton.
"You see, Percy," Eros began to explain, "Thanatos could not risk being discovered as an ai-"
"So you let Hades become an enemy?" Percy rubbed his face with his palms tiredly, leaning heavily on the wall, yet again, "You let me anger another one of the big three, to save his ass?"
"We did it to save yours!" Eros argued back, pacing around as he tried not to reveal as much, "We thought it best if some of our intentions remain hidden fro-"
"From me?" Percy growled, a steely edge in his voice as he advanced forward, "Tell me, Eros," He spat out his name, "How many of the gods and goddesses I've met hid their intentions from me?"
"Not fro-"
"How many?!"
Eros did not answer for he feared that he might reveal her plan to Percy. Though he may not like hiding it from Percy, as nobody liked being a hypocrite, he understood that it should be hidden. They were all looking out for the demigod, and they wanted him to have a happy life.
But they also knew that he had to lead a change. He had to want to lead a change.
"Percy," Triton said, "I don't who this 'we' Eros mentions, but I'll tell you what my intentions are, right to your face." He placed himself right in front of Percy and looked him right in the eye, "It's to make sure those son-of-bitches Olympia-"
A silver arrow with a blank tip shot out from Triton's heart.
At Camp Half-Blood
Chiron trotted along the path that lined all the various cabins in camp. He surveyed the campers performing their activities, ensuring that they were all learning and having fun. Smiling at the campers at the archery range, he relaxed his senses for the first time in many weeks.
His hooves clopped along as he passed by the gossipers of the Aphrodite cabin. But they weren't as loud to deafen his acute hearing from the little chatters of the Love cabin.
"… And to believe those prissy girls are in Eros' cabin," One of the girls complained, "Sure, Eros is the place to go if you want puppy love advice, but our.."
"Little cabin in the place to go if you want to get back what you lost, eh?" Finished another, giggling at the obviously inside joke. Chiron was about to leave the girls alone, but what soon followed had him running for the Eros Cabins, "The hunters in Cabin Eros, hah!"
At the Olympian Throne Room
The Olympians sat in their thrones, silently observing the events taking place in Philly. Till now, none had made a comment on the absences of Hermes and Hephaestus. However, most understood that Zeus had commanded Hephaestus to remain in his forges, fix Jake up, and not return till then. Hermes, on the other hand, had perhaps gone AWOL.
But the emptiness of one throne brought peace to everyone's mind. The throne of Pose-
The doors thudded open with a hug crash, the aforementioned god of the sea occupying the wide breath. His mouth was set in a thin line as his eyes flashed a dangerous green. The rest of the Olympians could see the raging storm in them.
"Hello, dear broth-" Zeus welcomed as he spread his arms. But his welcome was cut short.
"Perseus," Poseidon boomed throughout the room, his trident appearing in his hands. "Triton," his throne dissolved. "My dear family," The sea god said cynically, "You can all go to Hades!"
And he disappeared from the throne room.
"We've got a rogue god." Ares said.
At Eros' temple, Philadelphia
Eros crouched next to Triton's prone body as Percy feverishly tried to heal the wound. None cared about the two Olympians lying in wait outside, hidden in the darkness. None cared that they were open targets.
They just wanted to save Triton.
"Brother…" Triton gasped out, placing a hand on Percy's, "It's… no…" He coughed out ichor, "use." He pointedly looked at Eros, sending a last, desperate message.
"Percy," Eros said as he place a hand on the demigod's shoulder, "He's right," He clenched Percy's shoulder tightly, "The black of arrow of death… Immediate death for demigods while for gods…"
"Fade," Triton summed up with another cough.
"No!" Percy yelled, grabbing a glass of water from the table and drenching the wound, "First mom…," He hit pushed on the wound, "Mrs.O'leary…" He choked out as he hit Triton's chest, "Now… you…"
"Percy…" Triton placed his hand on Percy's chest, "The…" His voice gave way, sounding raspy. He placed a finger on Percy's forehead, telepathically sending the message. "The sea…" Even with it being telepathic, he sounded weak, near death, "Always need an heir."
The sea god tried to raise his hand towards the pendant around his neck, but he was too weak to do so. He rested one hand on Percy's chest, the other on his own. His body was becoming translucent now, slowly dissipating as Percy's tears fell down.
His pendant fell through his neck and onto the floor. His legs started to fade, so did his arms. Everyone in the room knew it was only a matter of time before…
The son of the sea took a deep breath, looking directly into Percy's eyes. He knew he was fading. He knew his mother would miss him, cry for him. He knew Percy would too. But he needed to say this. These last words…
"Raise hell, my brother."
And he faded.
I know I know.. Its rather short. But, it's a sad scene and I want all sad scenes to be short. More impact… Who am I kidding? I wanted it to be short.. because it was.. just sad.
I'll post one more chapter later… I promise…
I'm soooo sorry and I hope you all aren't mad at me for the delay. I hope this chapter is enough. I know its short, but its kinda like a teaser.
