Chapter 9

Both Emma and Sabrina were fast asleep inside the fort, cuddled up closer together. Sabrina had her arm around his daughter. It was one of the cutest sights he had ever seen. "Sabrina," he called reaching out to touch her shoulder.

"Mmmm," she mumbled in her sleep as she turned her head and opened her eyes to look at him. "Patrick your home." He had to admit she looked kinda cute when she had just woken up, sleepily trying to locate where she had put her glasses.

"Emma look who's home." She said reaching over to wake the little girl.

"Daddy!" Emma squealed with delight as she crawled out of the fort to give him a big hug.

"Hey how's my little Princess?"

"I'm good. Daddy we had so much fun."

"I'm glad you had a good time with Sabrina." He said as she crawled out of the tent and stood nearby to watch their little reunion.

"Oh Emma why don't you show him what you made for him." Sabrina said touching Emma's shoulder as she looked up at her with a big smile.

"Oh yeah I'll go get it." She said as she ran off excitedly.

When Emma left the room Sabrina realized just what a mess they had made in the living room. She had planned to clean up before he got home but they hadn't been expecting him until later tonight. "Um I was just gonna clean this up," she said as she went to grab one of the blankets to fold.

Before she could he stopped her by reaching for her hand, "Its fine, really." He said as he looked into her eyes. They were standing really close together and before she could respond he leaned in and kissed her. She was so stunned at first she didn't know what to do, finally her senses kicked in and she began to kiss him back. Just then they heard the patter of little feet and pulled apart just as Emma entered the living room.

"Daddy look what Sabrina showed me how to make," She said holding up the colorful scarf she had made him.

"You made this? Wow! I love it Princess," he told her as he flung it around his neck.

She laughed, "It looks good on you daddy but your supposed to wear it outside."

"What? I am. Nah I think I'll wear it all the time, what do you think?" He said leaning over to tickle her. While they were laughing Sabrina was quietly gathering her things. She wasn't sure what to make of that kiss. What was it? A thank you for watching my daughter kiss. He was still with Britt so it couldn't possibly mean anything, right?

"You guys look like you had a good time." He said turning to smile at Sabrina.

"Oh we did, right Emma?"

"Ya daddy! We made cookies and went bowling and we made this cool fort, we slept in all night. Oh and Sabrina taught me how to say things in Spanish. Did you know she knew Spanish?" Emma said excitedly.

"Yes sweetie I did."

"Well I had fun. Emma is a very sweet and beautiful little girl and I hope we can spend time together again soon," she said to the little girl.

"Thank you so much for watching her for me. Maybe we can have dinner together, as a thank you for staying with her," Patrick suggested.

She was about to say no when Emma spoke first, "Oh please Sabrina." And she just couldn't say no to the little girl who was looking up at her with the cutest expression on her face. "Alright dinner would be great." She said as she picked up her bag. "But I had better head home. I haven't seen Felix all week, he's probably missing me." She lied as she said he goodbyes to Emma and headed out to her car.

"Felix I'm home." She called out as she opened the door to their apartment and dropped her keys in the dish by the door.

"Hey how did it go?"

"Emma and I had a great time." She answered as she took a seat on the couch.

"That's not what I meant. I mean how did it go with the dreamboat?" Sabrina blushed as soon as he said it remembering back to the kiss they shared only moments ago.

"Something happened didn't it?" He asked.

"No...why would you think that?" She asked getting up from the couch and acting like she was getting herself a drink of water.

"Because you we're blushing and now your avoiding me."

She sighed, "Ok so maybe he kissed me." She said leaning on the counter.

"Maybe? Your not sure."

"No he did but it couldn't have meant anything. He's still with Britt."

"He wouldn't have kissed you if he didn't mean it Sabrina. Maybe something happened with him and the Brittch." Felix said walking over to her.

Meanwhile at the Drake residence Emma was playing in her room after she told him everything about her week with Sabrina. Patrick walked into the kitchen to get something to eat when he noticed the post-it's on just about everything. He walked up to the one on the fridge and read it, she had taken the time to write down Spanish words for different items and appliances in order to teach Emma some Spanish. She had taught Emma how to knit and they and they made cookies together. She was perfect for his daughter, just what Emma needed in her life. He was glad he had ended things with Britt when he did, at the time he wasn't ready for a relationship and Emma didn't really like Britt. He wanted to make sure that whomever he ended up with was someone Emma approved of. He smiled finding another post-it on the side of the TV set.
