For Blood
Pt.2
"Let's go Matt…now." Terry's voice was hard and threatening as the Neo-Batman swung the bedroom door open a bit further.
Matt, however, was not in the mood for leaving as he folded his hands across his chest. "I don't have to go anywhere with you."
"Well you sure as hell ain't staying here if that's what you thought!" Terry growled, those icy eyes narrowing into a death glare. "We're going to discuss this when we get back home."
"No. How about we discuss this right now?!" Matt yelled, adjusting his posture, fists balled to his side as the younger brother eyed his eldest sibling with some kind of mixture of disdain and retribution while Max shifted a gaze between the both of them nervously. "You're selfish, you're stupid, and you don't deserve to be Batman."
Terrence took a step forward, pointing his finger at Matt. "Don't push your luck, BOY!"
"I'm more of a man than you'll ever be. I don't hide the way I feel about the people I love. I pursue them, I don't abandon Max all the damn time and then have the nerve to not accept RESPONSIBILITY for her pain out of all the SHIT she's done for me!" Matt felt his jaw crunch as he fell back onto the bed with a grunt. Max gives a holler as he falls and is suddenly grabbed by the collar and yanked back up by a pissed off Terry.
"You don't know what the FUCK you're talking about! You've just stepped into the game that we fight to win every single day. You're a naïve brat who doesn't know what to do with his dick when he sees a beautiful woman."
"Neither do you," Matt grunts, jaw turning a dark purple already. "At least I go after what I want. You can't make Max happy…she cries because of you." He winces as Terry raises his fist to deliver another blow.
But Max cries out once more and flies off the bed grabbing Terry's arm to stop him from swinging. "TER STOP! He's your little brother!"
McGinnis turns his angry stare for Max next. "Exactly. He's my little brother. You know he's just a young and horny brat looking for a piece of slit to mess around with and you were going to give it to him anyway."
Gibson shakes her head slowly, eyes brimming with tears at his words and apparent lack of understanding. "You're wrong…why are you being so mean to me?"
"Because look at you! Max you use sex to lure people in; even if you don't know it. You could have killed him."
"I never would have…" Why was he being so mean? Why didn't he see that she had pushed Matt off…why didn't he see that he was hurting her? Matt punched Terry in the gut, making the eldest bend over in agony as the younger McGinnis grabbed his brother's shoulders and kneed him straight in the jaw. "YOU'RE HURTING HER," Matt screamed angrily.
Batman and Robin clashed with one another – tossling within the room as they yelled profanities. They both fought for the exact same reason – they were just blind to it. Matt was protecting Max – because he loved her; Terry was trying to make sure no one else took her – because he loved her. He didn't have the strength to make her his after all these years…but he wasn't going to let anyone else snatch her up either. It was a cold resolve; selfish and heartbreaking as he never came to realize that he was only tearing the two of them farther apart. Terrence's actions were inevitably going to make Max grow weary of the lack of care that she was being showed. Gibson yelled for them to stop but her words fell on deaf ears. Matt was knocked down on her carpet and Max dove in, jumping on top of him to defend the boy. Matt tried to push her off, but her body tied to his; Terry paused and growled. "Max, move!"
"NO! I WONT LET YOU HURT EACH OTHER ANYMORE!" She felt hands grab on to her from behind and she shook her head feverishly. "NO! NO! NO!" Silence ensued the apartment save for their heavy panting as Terry paced in agitation.
"You're protecting him?!"
"I'm protecting you both!"
"Bullshit! Fine, do what you want." He turned and left, leaving behind the sound of the door slamming as Matt held Max's waist and panted.
"I thought he'd never leave," came a songlike voice from the window as the two looked up and gasped in shock and horror. Kavin stepped inside so fluidly, smiling as he watched Max back up in fear. "Do not be afraid my love. I have come to save you. Is this the life you wish to live? I think not."
Matt sat up and growled, "YOU'RE NOT TAKING HER!" He ran forward but Kavin merely smirked, clutching to Matt's throat.
"What to do beloved? With just the slight of hand I could break his frail little neck…"
"MATT!" Gibson screamed.
"Yet I know that doing such an act will only pull you farther away from me. So I shall install plan B." Kavin pulled out a gun-like device and shot Matt in the neck with a toxin that instantly put the teen to sleep, dropping his body like a ragdoll. "Now my love, shall we go."
Max narrowed her brows hatefully as her hair began to stand and float about her face, eyes shining more profoundly; the furniture began to vibrate and rise as Kavin sighed in both awe as well as frustration. "I'm not going anywhere with you!" With a thrust of her arm the lamp flew forth, striking him on the head – but Kavin merely shook it off and smiled.
"You'll have to do better than that, my love." Spoken too soon. A large dresser knocked him back into the wall, causing the vampire to disappear completely for a few brief moments before smashing his hand through the wood and stepping out of it a little shaken up. He groans and leans against the open window with a hand on his head. "That was…better." He looked as the second dresser went for him next under Max's control – yet Kavin dodged out the way, sending it through the window into the outside world. He blurred before Max had time to move out the way, appeared before her, pressed the gun to her throat and injected the toxin – wincing at her scream of shock which died away swiftly once the toxins began to take effect. Kavin sighed and picked her up. He took a deep breath and ran, jumping out the window and landing in the next apartment building over. The family sitting in the living room blinked in shock, unsure what to say as the elder Vampire merely smiled, nodded in greeting, and walked right of the front door.
Terry had just made it out of the building when a dresser crashed onto the car parked at the curb. The Batman paused and stared at the furniture. He recognized that dresser…his eyes went upwards next, taking in the open window…hearing Max's scream. "SHIT!" McGinnis turned and ran back inside, ran to the elevator, pressing the buttons impatiently as his heart began to pick up pace in fear. The elevator was moving too slow! He turned for the stairs next when the transport dinged. McGinnis turned and ran back for the elevator, shoving the couple that was going inside out of the way as the door closed again and he hit her floor number. Within a few mere minutes he was at the door, kicking it in and rushing inside. "MAX?!" he called, checking every room in the apartment. "TALK TO ME BABY!" Still no answer. He made it into the bedroom and took in the sight of the carnage, his brother out cold in the middle of the floor. "MAX!" Terry fell on his knees…and cried. He had failed her.
***************** When Max had opened her eyes she was in a dimly lit room, filled with vintage Parisian furniture and covered in candle light. A fireplace shone in the background with flame as her eyes seemed groggy and fogged. She groaned quietly as she tried to move but found that she could not. Her head looked up and found both arms raised to each side of her face, restricted by some kind of metallic bonds. Her feet were tied together and also restrained in a giant metal bond. She hung against the wall almost in a crucifix-like position. "Ah good, you are awake." Maxine looked forward and saw him walking toward her with two glasses filled with a dark red liquid. "I apologize for keeping you locked up like this my love, but I had to use caution in a delicate situation such as this."
Maxine growled and hissed, baring her perfect fangs for him in such anger that it made Kavin frown a bit. "I hate you! Let me go!"
"I cannot. This is the safest place for you at the moment."
"Safest HOW?! YOU'VE GOT ME CHAINED UP LIKE A DAMN SLAVE!"
"Just long enough to explain everything to you – to have you understand why you cannot return back to your home for a little while. Max," Kavin whispered as he approached and touched her cheek delicately after moving the second glass over to his opposite hand. "I would NEVER hurt you. Or do anything to willingly cause you pain. What they were doing brought you vast suffering. You and I both know this."
"You don't know anything about me!" she stated emptily.
"You are incorrect there, beloved," Kavin contradicted softly. "I know virtually everything about you. Others want to use what you have for blood – I only want to preserve yours. A bite is a powerful thing, beloved." His presses his lips against Max's throat, taking in her scent with an intoxicating breath as Kavin's eyes rolled a little and his groin tightened. His fangs inched closer to her flesh but he covered them and kissed her neck carefully instead before taking a step back. He looked at her with a stare of surrender, weakness, and longing. "I could never hurt you…"
To be continued…
