"History Repeating"

Please enjoy and review!

Alexandra was out in the woods staring up at the full moon dressed in her white night gown and wasn't wearing any make-up or jewelry.

She was thinking over Katherine's words, wondering if she truly did want to become a vampire to kill and feed on people, but the very thought made her stomach drop.

Leaving her father hurt her and being with Stefan and Damon for eternity was fine, but they were changing strangely enough.

The sound of someone yelling in pain made her stand and walk over curiously.

"Hello is someone there?" she called.

No answer came and she walked on into the forest, finding a figure of a man on the ground half naked, groaning in pain.

Upon closer inspection, she found out who the man was and gasped as she ran over to him.

"George, what's wrong?" she asked kneeling beside him.

George Lockwood looked up at the girl with a pained look on his face and also had one of fear in his eyes.

"Alexandra, y-you…n-need to…run." He rasped out.

"No, you need help. Let me help you." Alexandra said as she tried to help him up, but he shouted in pain as sweat dripped off his body and his arm broke.

She gasped in fear for him and he threw himself out of her arms.

"George?" she called.

"Run! Now!" he yelled as he looked up at her.

George's eyes were gold which made her heart beat frantically in her chest as he screamed in pain as his bones all began to break and thick brown fur grew over his body.

He howled in pain making her turn and run, not caring about the rocks and fallen branches cutting at her feet as she ran.

A long, loud howl broke through the silent night making her sob in fear as she tried to run faster, getting closer to the Salvatore home and more importantly, Katherine and Emily's house.

Hope filled her when she saw it coming ahead of her and she was about to cry out when she was suddenly tackled to the ground.

She screamed as she felt the hot breath of a wolf on her neck while slobber dripped from its jaw.

"Help! Somebody please help me!" she screamed.

The wolf then dug its fangs into her shoulder and began to tear at her skin making her sob and scream in fear and pain, begging for someone to come.

No one came and she struggled to be free of the wolf, kicking and hitting at it but it simply tore through her, her vision soon fading as she started to lose the fight.

"ALEX!" someone screamed.

The wolf moved off and seemed to run away when suddenly Alexandra was cradled into the arms of someone, her vision having black spots fading in and out.

Katherine was looking down at the girl who looked grotesque with her body covered in blood and chunks of her skin torn off.

Biting into her wrist, Katherine held it out to the barely alive girl's mouth when Stefan, Damon, Anna, Pearl and Emily ran over, gasping in shock.

"Alex, you need to drink. This will save your life. Drink." Katherine begged through gritted teeth.

"Katherine, it won't work. She's too badly injured." Pearl said.

Anna was crying while Damon and Stefan sobbed as the older tried to hold his younger brother up as they stared at the body.

"It will. It will, damn it." Katherine snarled as she forced Alexandra to drink.

Emily looked around sadly as she then walked over and pulled Katherine's arm away from the girl's mouth, Alexandra still trying to fight the darkness but she could feel her heart slowing down.

"It won't work. I'm sorry." Emily said as she gently moved a strand of Alexandra's hair back.

Tears were sparkling in her eyes as she stared down at the girl, wishing that this hadn't happened to someone so innocent and pure.

Stefan officially broke down as he fell to the ground and started to vomit while Damon was sobbing hard, his breaths coming out harshly.

Katherine held Alexandra in her arms, kissing her head as she sobbed.

"Your magic. Emily, you can heal her or surely bring her back." Anna begged as she ran over.

"I can't. The spirits won't let me. I wish I could, but I can't. We have to let her die." Emily said.

Pearl pulled her distraught daughter into her arms and let her cry, the woman unsure of how to tell poor Johnathan about his daughter's untimely death.

Alexandra's hand lifted up slowly and weakly, placing her hand on Katherine's face and wiped away the tears making the vampire look down at her.

"Alex?" she asked.

"I-I…l-love you…all. T-Tell m-my father…for me." she rasped out nearly a whisper.

Stefan and Damon ran over to her, both having red eyes from crying and tears were still falling as they kneeled beside her.

"Allie, please don't leave us. We still need you." Stefan begged as he took her hand and kissed it.

"We were supposed to be together forever. Please, stay with us. Don't go. Don't go!" Damon whispered desperately.

Forcing a smile for them, the life slowly faded from Alexandra's eyes as she then died.

Chris' eyes snapped open as she looked around her room, seeing everything was as she left it except for Jeremy being in her bed, holding her.

Feeling moisture on her face, Chris touched it to see that she had been crying in her sleep.

The movement woke Jeremy as he blinked sleepy eyes at her.

"Hey, you all right?" he asked rubbed his eyes.

"Yeah, I'm fine. Why are you in here?" she asked him.

"I heard you crying and screaming. You really freaked everyone out. We came in here seeing you thrashing around. You stopped after a while, but wouldn't wake up, so I stayed in here with you." Jeremy explained.

Chris then realized that her nightmare was what made her act that way and she felt awful for scaring her family like that.

"So what was it?" Jeremy asked sitting up in bed.

"It was a nightmare. I was running in the woods and a wolf mauled me." Chris answered.

Jeremy looked at her in shock, unsure of how her fear of wolves had become a nightmare.

It wasn't possible, but then again, she may have a phobia of them and he didn't know how phobias worked out for people.

He pulled her into his chest and hugged her, gently rubbing her back as she lay in his arms.

"It's okay. You can't be hurt with me here." He whispered.

She nodded at this as she held him, the looks of pain and heartbreak on Alexandra's friends' faces of her death; especially Katherine's since she obviously loved the girl, were burned into her memory.

(At school…)

After showering, getting dressed in a purple skirt, black tank top and black boots, Chris grabbed breakfast, assured her family that she was fine, and then went to school.

She went into her history class which was second period and found a new man was inside, looking over his notes.

The other students walked inside, sitting down as they whispered over the new teacher.

"Good afternoon everyone. If you hadn't heard from the other students, I am Alaric Saltzman your new history teacher. Yes, I know, it's a mouthful, but feel free to call me Mr. Saltzman, Alaric or even Rick. My family originated from Germany, then came to Texas in 1755, but I was born and raised in Boston." The teacher said.

Chris gave him a curious look, then spied a large ring on his finger that seemed familiar to her, but she wasn't certain where she'd seen it.

(Later on…)

Caroline found Chris reading under a tree and sat down next to her with a huff.

"Are all guys jerks or is it just me?" the blonde asked.

"I'm afraid to ask." Chris closed her book.

"Okay, you know Matt; maybe you can explain this to me. He brought me home when I was drunk, we spent the night together and it was nice and peaceful and I felt safe." Caroline said.

Chris made herself comfortable as she turned to the blonde, listening to her properly.

"That sounds nice, but where's the issue here?" she asked.

"He snuck out! He snuck out without even telling me. It's such a typical guy thing and then this morning, instead of talking to me, he just gave me a 'Hey' and that was it. We didn't even talk about it." Caroline ranted.

"Caroline, breath. I don't want you to pass out." Chris advised and the blonde took in a breath.

"So what do you think? Am I imagining something's going on here?" Caroline asked.

"Actually, it sounds like Matt might like you. But even if he does, he must be feeling conflicted. Elena was his first love and everyone expected them to get married and have kids. He still has feelings for her, and as for him sneaking out; your mom would freak if she caught him in your room at night. Maybe you should just talk to him about it." Chris said.

Caroline looked to be thinking over her words carefully and smiled brightly as she then tackled the girl in a hug which stunned Chris as she fell back on the ground.

"Thank you! I would've talked to Elena or Bonnie, but they've been busy with other stuff and keeping secrets from me." Caroline said as she sat up.

"Well, darn them." Chris muttered.

The blonde watched as Chris sat up and pulled her book back out, opening it up to read, but Caroline took it from her making the brunette give her a curious look.

"We should hang out more. Why haven't we before?" Caroline asked.

"Because you're Elena's friend. I want to make my own." Chris explained as she tried to reach for her book, but Caroline held it out to the side.

"Well, now I'm your friend. Let's go." Caroline then took her hand and pulled the girl up.

This confused Chris and shocked her as Caroline pulled her along, Tyler passing by them and stared at them curiously since they weren't a duo he usually saw together.

Matt walked up beside him as they watched the two girls go off.

"Uh, since when do Forbes and Baby Gilbert hang out?" Tyler asked.

"I have no idea." Matt shook his head.

(At home…)

Chris threw herself down on her bed, tired from the day she had with Caroline dragging her into shops, picking up new clothing and nail polish.

It seemed like a horror before, but when she was with the blonde, Chris found herself having fun.

True, Caroline was chipper and was a ball of giddiness, but she was also a bouncy ball of sunshine and was actually able to make Chris smile.

If Caroline didn't focus on herself most of the time, more people would be interested in getting to know the real her which was an insecure, but also kind person.

Chris then got up and went to relax in a bathtub.

She gathered up her bath supplies and filled the tub with the warm water and poured in the honey scented bubble bath.

Once the tub was filled, she turned off the taps and then undressed before she settled back in the tub, letting the warm water and scent of honey sooth her.

All of a sudden, the lights started to flicker on and off, while screaming and banging was heard.

Feeling worried, Chris got up and quickly dressed in her clothing from today, not caring she was dripping wet and ran out of the bathroom.

When the yelling stopped and lights stopped flickering, she saw Caroline was storming away looking mad and terrified.

"What the Hell was going on?" Chris asked.

"Ask Bonnie." Caroline snapped as she threw her jacket on and then left while Elena ran after her.

"Caroline, wait!" Elena yelled.

"No, I've had it with this fake witch stuff." Caroline said.

Groaning, Chris turned and gasped as she jumped back in shock as she saw Emily Bennett standing behind her.

"Emily?" she gasped.

Emily smiled at her, then turned into Bonnie much to the girl's shock and confusion.

"I knew we'd see each other again, Alexandra." Bonnie said.

"Emily, how-? I'm not Alexandra. Why do I keep seeing these things? How do I know them?" Chris asked desperately.

Bonnie cupped the distressed girl's cheeks, seeing a flash of Emily in the green eyes the young witch had.

"I can't answer that now. I need to be somewhere. I won't let him have it. It ends tonight." Bonnie said as she walked off.

Unsure of what she meant, Chris grew determined as she ran off after Bonnie, wanting to get her answers from Emily while Jeremy passed her on the stairs.

"Hey, where's the fire?" he called.

She didn't answer and Elena was on the phone with someone when Chris ran out without her jacket and shoes, trying to catch up to the witch.

"Chris, wait! Stop!" Elena called.

Chris just kept running, following Bonnie who was far ahead of her, running for the forest and found they were heading to the old Fell church that had been burned down during the Civil War in 1864.

She ignored the branches and rocks jabbing into her feet and slapping at her body as she ran, some of the hanging branches pulling at her hair as she forced her way through.

"Hello, Emily. You look different." Damon greeted as he appeared in front of the witch.

Seeing him, Chris hid behind a tree, her soaked form shaking from the cold November air while her body was sore, her feet having the most damage.

"I won't let you do it." Emily said.

"We had a deal." Damon reminded.

"Things are different now. I need to protect my family." Emily said.

"I protected your family. You owe me." Damon stated.

"I know. I'm sorry." Emily said.

"You're about to be a lot more than that." Damon threatened.

He then ran at her, but Emily held her hand out, throwing him into a tree, a branch stabbing him through the back and poked out of his stomach.

"Damon!" Chris cried as she ran out from her hiding place.

"Emily, why are you doing this? What is going on?" she asked.

"I'm sorry, Alexandra. I didn't want you involved in this. I never did." Emily looked at her sadly as she walked off.

"Little help up here." Damon called weakly.

Chris looked up at him with tears in her hazel eyes, remembering how he killed Lexi, but a part of her still cared for him.

Not a single part of her could hate someone, but she could still feel anger.

"Chris!" Stefan called as he ran over, taking in her appearance in worry.

"What happened?" he asked.

"Emily." She said.

Seeing his brother, Stefan then pulled him off the branch, Damon grunting in pain as he fell to the ground.

"Oh, that hurts. This is why I feed on people." Damon whined as Chris kneeled next to him.

"Very funny." She scoffed.

They then looked over to Emily to see her holding an amber crystal that Chris remembered seeing Bonnie wear with her costume and that Caroline said she got from Damon.

"Stefan." Emily greeted.

"Hello, Emily." Stefan called.

"These people don't deserve this. They should never have to know such evil." Emily glared at Damon.

"What do you mean evil?" Stefan asked.

"Emily, I swear to God, I'll make you regret this." Damon panted as he forced himself to stand as he healed, but stumbled to the ground.

"I won't let you unleash them into this world." Emily yelled.

"Them?" Stefan asked.

"What the Hell is going on?" Chris demanded as she stood up.

"What part of the story did you leave out?" Stefan turned to Damon.

"What does it matter?" Damon grunted.

"Emily, tell me what you did." Stefan called.

"To save her, I had to save them." Emily answered.

"You saved everyone in the church?" Stefan asked.

"With one comes all." Emily said.

"Them who?" Chris asked getting annoyed.

"There's a tomb under the church. Katherine was sealed under it apparently. Now I'm learning with all the other vampires." Stefan answered making her eyes go wide.

"I don't care about them. I just want Katherine." Damon said desperately as he finally lifted himself off the ground.

"I knew I shouldn't have believed a word out of your mouth. This isn't about love is it? This is about revenge." Stefan turned on him.

"The two aren't mutually exclusive." Damon tried to shake off Stefan's grip.

"Damon, you can't do this." Stefan said.

"Why not?" Damon yelled pushing him.

While this was going on, Emily was drawing something in the ground as Chris looked between the trio, unsure of what to do.

"They killed 27 people and called it a war battle. They deserve whatever they get." Damon said.

"Twenty-seven vampires, Damon. They were vampires. You can't just bring them back." Stefan said.

"This town deserves this." Damon said.

"You're blaming innocent people for something that happened 145 years ago." Stefan argued.

"There is nothing innocent about these people. Don't think for a second it won't happen again. They know too much. They'll burn your grand-witch next to us when they find out. Trust me." Damon pointed at Emily who glared at him.

"Things are different now." Emily said.

"Don't do this." Damon begged.

"I can't free them. I won't." Emily said.

"No. Please, I already lost Allie; don't make me lose Katherine too." Damon begged close to tears.

"Incendia!" Emily cried as fire lit the ground.

Stefan pulled Chris back as the flames formed a pentagram and the trio stared in awe and fear.

"No, no, no. Please." Damon begged as Emily took off the crystal.

"You never lost Alexandra. Her body was burned for a reason. The flames made sure her spirit would be reborn." Emily called over the flames.

Stefan looked confused by this, but then looked over at Chris in shock as he realized what she meant and tears immediately came to his eyes.

She met his eyes and was confused by why he was giving her that look, then thought then over to figure them out herself.

"Bonnie." Elena yelled as she ran over, hearing Emily's words.

"Emily, what did you mean? Emily!" Chris called.

Emily then threw the crystal up into the air.

"No!" Damon screamed.

The crystal exploded the remained raining down on them much like fireworks while Damon glared angrily at Emily.

Around her, the fire went out as she returned Bonnie control of her body and she looked around confused as Damon attacked her.

"Damon, no!" Chris shrieked.

Bonnie screamed as she was fed on, but Stefan ran over and pulled Damon off as Elena and Chris ran over to Bonnie who dropped to the ground, unconscious.

Stefan bent down and listened to her heart.

"She's alive, but barely. I can save her." He said as he bit into his wrist.

Elena held Chris close and then sent a glare over at Damon who was staring at Bonnie, then his eyes went over to Chris when Emily's words entered his mind.

Bonnie groaned as the blood was forced down her throat, healing the wound on her neck and then Stefan back off.

"Her neck. It's healing." Elena gasped in relief.

Bonnie then got up and Elena pulled her off to the car to talk to her while Chris looked over to Damon, seeing the heartbreak on his face from losing Katherine, but when he looked at her, his eyes held hope.

Though Chris was scared because yet again she had seem a side of Damon that he had been hiding, the demon inside and she knew Stefan was hiding it as well.

"Chris, you should go with them." Stefan said.

She shook her head at him.

"No. I'll go home alone." She said.

"It's not safe." Stefan said.

"I need to be alone now. I-I just…I need to be alone. I need to think this all through." Chris stuttered.

Damon watched her sadly as eyes darted between them, fearing she was now terrified of him now that she had seen what he truly was.

"You're scared." Stefan stated with tears in his eyes.

"I'm confused. So much happened tonight that I don't fully understand. I need time. Please." She begged.

He nodded at her and let her walk off, going into the forest to leave.

Crying along the way, Chris hugged herself as she walked along the side of the road, wanting to get home and clean up.

She got home and then opened the door, stepping over the threshold when she felt a presence behind her.

Turning, she gasped when she found Logan Fell was behind her and stepped further back from the door.

"Little Christina Gilbert. I haven't seen you since you were…a baby." Logan grinned.

He took in her appearance, but ignored it as he glanced over her head to search inside the house.

"What are you doing here?" she demanded.

She had a terrible night and she didn't want her aunt's ex-boyfriend to cause any more problems and hurt poor Jenna once again.

"I'm here to see Jenna. We need to talk. So, why don't you invite me in?" Logan asked.

"Why should I? So you can string her along and hurt her again?" she asked.

"Look, I know I was gone for a while, but I can explain. Come on, please invite me in." he requested.

Staring into his brown eyes, she saw a smug look in them and there was something off about him that made her glare at him as she was on edge.

"Go to Hell." Chris slammed the door in his face.

To be continued…
