Mordecai's POV
I plummeted through the darkened abyss of my evaporating memories. Around me were the recollections of experiences i had encountered over the years. A striking feeling of remembrance pierced my heart as I scanned the walls. Memories of my initial childhood were beamed across the ever narrowing walls. I glanced down, to much in pain to watch the memories that once consumed me. I closed my eyes and gave-way to the agonizing feeling of plummeting towards a nonexistent floor. Then... I felt nothing, absolutely nothing. My numb body was replaced with a young rejuvenated bone structure. Instantly my medical history of pains subsided and vanished. I opened my eyes, horrified but also perplexed at what had just occurred to my new body. I was in a state of euphoria at what laid in front of me. Nothing but blue clear skies obscured my vision. I felt the blinding light hit my now sensitive retina. I closed my eyes ready for the pain but felt nothing. I didn't feel a single ounce of pain throughout my entire body. I was really starting to freak out at this point. I shot opened my eyes, ready for anything. I appeared to be in a large green meadow. The meadow was decorated with buds of newly sprouted flowers. I examined the most luscious green grass I've ever laid eyes on. The lawn was littered with golden dotted blue flowers that seemed to dance in the calming wind. A lake of pure blue could be seen just off in the distance. I began to rush towards the sparkling blue lake. I felt like a kid again, running through the fields without a care in the world. I smiled happily as I had almost reached the lake. I stopped and planted my feet on the cold luscious soil. My heart began to pound as I saw her. She was crouched down by the bay of water almost as if she were waiting for something. A nice smile plastered her face as her feet were left dangling in the water. I was curious, almost perplexed at what was occurring was even real. It couldn't be, I kept telling myself. I slowly began to trudge my way out of the mud and towards her seemingly lifeless body. Then I uttered one word I swear I would never be able to say again after what happened...
"Mom?" I uttered in shock. She gave a slight shudder as she slowly turned her head. When her eyes met mine she smiled almost instinctively. I crouched down beside her frail body. I couldn't believe what I was seeing. She kept smiling at me and then started to brake down in a cry.
"Mordecai... I missed you so much." she cried, "you don't know how long I've been waiting to see you again!" she shouted now fully suppressed by tears. I still stared in shock, as I was not able to comprehend the emotions that were now flooding through me. Her eyes were flooding with salty waves of liquid. I arched my back and almost fell into her loving embrace. I never thought I would be able to see her again, or feel her physical touch for that matter. I began to ball up in a fury ball of emotion. What was once happiness was replaced with a feeling of anger and self doubt.
"I'm so sorry, mom!" I cried, "It should've been me." I had always wanted to confess my self pity towards her and tell her it was truly all my fault for what had happened to her. I felt her shove me away in fury. I only had just recovered from her sudden outburst only to look her straight in the eye.
"Mordecai, don't you ever doubt yourself for what happened!" she scolded me. She looked at me. Her eyes showed no emotion but pure doubt. She pointed her fingers straight at my heart in fury.
"B-but it was all m-my fault!" I shouted at her in pure hatred.
"Honey, you don't even know what happened did you!" the tone of her voice seemed to calm down substantially, "You were so little." she laughed a little. "let me show you what happened!"
I felt a wave of pure nausea wash over me. I felt like my soul was being torn apart into millions of tiny pieces. It felt horrible. I opened my tightly shut eyes only to see my mother had vanished. Darkness had overlapped my vision completely. I closed my eyes once more only to hear a faint humming sound protruding from the back of my head. I opened my eyes only to see where I truly was. I was inside of what appeared to be a moving vehicle of sorts. The faint noise of the humming engine lay behind me. I looked out beyond the sheltering glass window. A scene of a starry night time could be seen just outside. I tried to move my arms but couldn't to my dismay. I tried speaking or saying a word, but couldn't. However just then I realized who I truly was. I was inside a vision. I was replaying a memory of me when I was an infant. it all seemed so shocking. I sat there looking through the eyes of my once infant body. I looked outside of the window one last time eager to see more of the night time city landscapes. There, protruding from the everlasting darkness laid two lights. The bright yellow flashing lights seemed to be quickly progressing towards me. The lights began to form of a distinctive figure of a fast moving vehicle hurling itself straight at me. I watched as the car slammed on the brakes. A loud shrilling screech of a noise plastered my ear drums. I appeared to close my eyes and felt my two warm hands cover and protect my newly developed sense of hearing. A wave of fear washed over me as I felt an impact of sorts protrude from the side of the car. I was hurled backwards but caught by the self securing seat belt. My head jerked backwards with a ton of force. I opened my eyes to see spiderwebs of pure sharp glass being thrown around the vehicle. The vehicle almost did a roll of sorts before it landed upside down. The pavement shrilled as metal scraped metal. Then... it all stopped. I pushed my hands upon my temples to cure my newly formed headache. All the commotion that could be heard was enough for my tiny ear drums to handle. I felt a sick nauseating feeling protrude from my stomach regions. I slowly let the blood rush to my head. Then... Blackness.
The next fading memory I had was shocking. I watched two firemen pull my mother out of the wrecked, smashed, damaged vehicle. I watched in horror as I saw them both let go of her fragile body. Her body smashed to the ground like a thousand puzzle pieces. Her body was broke and snapped throughout the course of the wreck. Needless to say, she was gone. My own mother... the one that fully cared and admired me... was dead. She always had been a great friend of mine. She was a beautiful, fragile, delicate women. She loved everyone as a friend and only cared about making other people happy. She was my loved one, my inspiration, my trusted sidekick. She was my mom. However she was ripped from my grasp. Never to be seen or spoken to again. I sat and cried for what appeared to be hours. I felt another pain of nausea wash over me. Everything protruding from my vision was fading in color.
Darkness washed over me yet again as I was transported pack to the euphoria like landscape. I fell in the cold wet luscious mud. I looked up in shock as I had recollected my bearings. I closed my eyes and began to calm my senses. I was overloading in fury. The fury had consumed my rightful being and made me hate absolutely everything. I hated the driver that had perished my mother. I felt a warm delicate hand touch my shoulder. I opened my eyes almost instinctively to meet my mother's. She smiled warmly at me.
"So you see?" she said with a smile, "It wast your fault!" she added. "It was no ones fault!" she stared deeply at me, almost as if she could read ever fiber of my being. She caught on and eventually spoke up. "I know what you're feeling." she paused letting me process what she just said. "You hate the driver that ended me didn't you?" she asked. I stared at her in disbelief.
"How'd you know?" I asked her albeit rather scared.
""Because I'm your mother!" she said quickly. "I know what your thinking here... and here." she pointed from my throbbing skull down to my pained chest. "I'm always there when you make decisions!" she happily added. "And don't hate the kid that ended me, he was foolish and stupid anyways."
"Why should I like the guy!" I retorted.
"Because Mordecai, your the kindest guy I know!" she kept smiling, "I mean, how do you think you got Margaret so well?" she asked. In the midst of being caught up in my mothers spirit, I had completely forgotten the one I loved. A pain of guilt shot over me like a gun. I had forgotten about her.
"I just love her so much." I answered sadly.
"Then you must promise me you'll love her forever!" she shouted happily.
"I promise." I told her. I then did something I would've never thought of doing ever again. I smiled. She smiled back at me lovingly.
"You better get back." she smiled, "someone's waiting for you." she added.
"What?" I asked her curiously. She quickly pulled me into a full on embrace. I felt her love wash over me and engulf me in warmth. I smiled happily and returned the hug.
"And Mordecai?" she asked me sweetly still in my arms.
"Hmmm..." I mumbled barely audible to hear.
"Treat her right for me!" she laughed. I felt another sick nauseating feeling wash over me. My body began to tighten and go limp. I felt the cold numbing sensation wash over my entire body. I felt like someone was holding me tenderly. I felt a warm sensation caress my beak gently and lift me from my slumber. My eyes began to slowly open. I was met with a small fragile red robin. She was crying in the inside corner of what appeared to be a green tent. I eyed her suspiciously. I placed my hand on her warm soft cheeks. She looked shock for a moment but slowly succumbed into the moment. I pulled her beak close to mine again and met her in another fiery kiss. She let go albeit rather shocked. I stared at her limply as I replied, "Thank you!" she giggled at me happily. At that point I knew what my mother was trying to get me to foresee. She wanted me to do what she never could of done for me. She wanted me to be a father.
