Wow, ok, where to start? I apologize for my long hiatus, but a lot of things happened in my life. I got into a really bad car accident and totaled my car. My job is getting to be really stressful, but hopefully ::fingers crossed:: I'll be getting a new one soon. I'm also living with a loud and disrespectful roommate. All of these things have contributed to my stress and sent me into a crazy writers block. Once again so sorry. For those of you still with me I hope you enjoy.
Also this was the authors note from my other story, sorry if you had to read it again.
Maura made the kidnapper drive throughout the night, at knife point in a stolen vehicle. He was tired and overwhelmed. After almost twelve straight hours of driving he became careless.
He didn't noticed the little girl in the road nor did he hear Maura's screams for him to "watch out." He stopped the vehicle abruptly after realizing what he had done. This caused Maura's head to hit the windshield.
"Shit shit shit," Maura screamed at the man who was "kidnaping" her. "What the hell did you do?"
Both got out of the car and started to approach the body of a little girl who was lying in the middle of the street motionless.
As they got closer, the little girl started to whimper and stir.
"She's alive," he gasped. In one quick motion, he grabbed the knife out of Maura's hand and walked towards the body. Maura pulled him back. "What are you doing?"
"I'm just going to scare her."
"I don't think so."
"If she squeals we're both in trouble, and your father as well."
"That doesn't mean you pull a knife on a kid, dumbass, there are other ways."
"Yeah like what?"
As Maura and the "kidnapper" were arguing they didn't notice that an unmarked police car had pulled up behind their vehicle. When the cops got out they saw the "kidnapper" holding the knife.
"DROP YOUR WEAPON," the older of the male cops yelled as both drew their weapons.
Maura put her hands up but the "kidnapper" dropped the knife and started to run but was caught a few yards later by the older cop. The younger cop picked up the knife, put it in a bag, then approached Maura. He was alarmed by her disheveled appearance. "Are you okay ma'am?"
"Yes, I'm fine, go check on her." She pointed to the girl. He looked at the little girl and used his radio to call for an ambulance.
The older cop had come back by this point with the "kidnapper" in handcuffs, and put him in the back seat of the cop car.
"Stay with her. I'll get the girl." The older cop said as he passed his partner and Maura.
"What happened ma'am," the younger cop tried to probe Maura for more information.
"He was driving erratically and he didn't notice her, she crossed the street so fast and he hit her."
The cop looked at the extent of Maura's injuries and easily concluded that that they did not only stem from the accident.
"What is the nature of your relationship with the man? Did he do this to you," he asked, gesturing to Maura's other injuries.
"He..." But before Maura was able to think of what to say next the ambulances arrived.
The paramedics took over placing Maura and the little girl in separate buses. Maura tried to protest but everyone was so insistent that she'd look suspect if she didn't go. The cop gave Maura his card and told her to call him if she remembered anything else.
Then the ambulances left, heading for Massachusetts General hospital.

Jane stormed through the emergency room of Massachusetts General Hospital. She approached the nurse's station ignoring formalities and demanded to see her niece.
"Julianna Rizzoli, ten year old girl, brown eyes, brown hair in a ponytail, St. Anthony's uniform, what room?"
The nurse who was trying to eat her lunch was caught off guard by the detective's sudden appearance. "Excuse me?"
Jane repeated what she previous stated slower than before but in a more annoyed tone.
The nurse became frustrated with her. "Are you the girl's mother?"
"No, I'm her aunt, where is she?"
"I need her parents to release that information."
"They're dead," Jane announced bluntly. "I am her legal guardian."
"Do you have the information to support that?"
Before Jane had the chance, to punch the nurse, Hope walked in and arrived by her side.
The nurse immediately recognized her from the volunteer work she would do every other weekend.
"Dr. Martin, what are you doing here?"
"My friend is in here because her niece got hurt," she put her hand on Jane's shoulder so it was clear to the nurse who she was referring to. "Her name is Julianna Rizzoli."
The nurse looked at the monitor in front of her, "J. Rizzoli, room number 42."
"Thank you, Lauren," Hope replied and she started to walk towards the room where the little girl was.
Jane gave Lauren a dirty look before following Hope to see her niece.
When they approached the little girl's room, they saw her with her leg elevated and bandages on both arms and her forehead.
"Juls," Jane said as she approached her niece wanting to hug her, but too afraid to hurt her, so she just put her hand on the little girls right hand. "Thank God you are okay."
Hope walked to the foot of Julianna's bed and flipped through her chart.
"Bug! Hi! My leg hurts. Why does my leg hurt?"
Jane looked at her propped leg then to Hope who put the chart down and approached Julianna's other side.
"Do you remember what happened, sweetie?"
"I don't know. I think I fell."
Hope pulled Jane aside. "She was hit by a car walking home from school, aside from her broken leg, her CT scan showed nothing else, the bandages are just from scrapes and bruises."
"Does she seem a little loopy to you," Jane asked just to make sure her brain wasn't injured.
"It's probably just the pain meds they have her on, she probably doesn't remember what happened because she is still in shock."
They both returned to the little girl. Jane kissed the top of Julianna's head. "I'm so sorry this happened kiddo."
Hope smiled at the heartwarming scene as the doctor arrived. He recognized Hope immediately. "Hello Dr. Martin."
Then he looked at Jane, "I'm Dr. Lewis, you must be Bug, she's been asking for you. I have to say that's an odd nickname."
"It comes from aunt which she thought was the other ant..." She stopped herself focusing on the more important issue at hand. "What happened how did she get here?"
"From what the cops understand she was hit by a vehicle, the driver attempted to flee the scene on foot but they caught him, he's in police custody now, his passenger wasn't wearing a seatbelt she was also injured. They tried getting a statement from her but she was pretty shook up too."
"Are the cops still here?"
"No they had to take the man down to the station, but they left their information." He handed Jane a piece of paper.
"Can we speak to the passenger of the vehicle," Hope asked.
"I can't allow you to interrogate her, she's a victim too. I'm really not supposed to say this but some of the injuries she sustained are not from the accident. I have reason to believe that the man she was with was abusing her as well."
"I wasn't planning on interrogating her, I want to speak to her as a doctor."
The doctor opened his mouth to reply but Hope continued.
"Dr. Lewis you know as well as I do that I have extensive experience in working with women who have been abused, just give me a chance to at least speak with her."
Dr. Lewis sighed and reluctantly gave in, "Okay, but just you."
Hope looked back at Jane.
"Please Hope, go ahead, I'm going to stay here with Julianna. Cailin texted me saying she's on her way, when she gets here, I'll call the cops who were on the seen.
Hope kissed Julianna on the cheek and squeezed Jane's hand before leaving the room. "If I find anything, I'll let you know."
"Thank you, for being here for us, Hope," Jane said as she took a seat by her niece's side.
"Of course, Jane, we're family, it's what we do."
Reviews are welcome of course. Thanks for sticking with me.
Be well and have a splendid day :)
