Dino Thunder
The Dino Thunder Rangers were in their Command Center underneath the Black Ranger's house. The girl from earlier was patched up and lying on a cot nearby since Mesogog was after her it was decided that she would be safest with them. Plus, they needed answers from her.
They were still morphed, waiting for her to wake up so that they could question her. Dr. Oliver had tried to send the kids home, but they wouldn't listen to him.
"Do you know her?" the Red Ranger turned to the Black one, after all she had whispered his name before she passed out.
The Black Ranger shook his head, "No." He knew he had a bad memory at times, but he didn't know many girls her age that weren't his students and she didn't seem like she was from Reefside. For some reason though she seemed familiar, there was just something about her.
"I wonder what Mesogog wants with her. She's just a teenage girl after all," the Blue Ranger wondered.
"You don't think he has another Dino Gem do you? You know to make another evil Ranger?" Kira certainly hoped not, one evil Ranger was enough.
The group shifted nervously, hoping it was nothing like that.
"Dr. Oliver," Jade called out, looking at her surroundings and realizing that she was in some sort of Command Center.
The Power Rangers rushed over to her bed, "Why would you think that one of us is this so called Dr. Oliver?" The Black Ranger crossed his arms, unwilling to admit that that was who he was until he knew more about what was going on.
Jade swung off the bed, "Oh I dunno, this photo seems to support my claim," she held up a photo that was on the desk. In the photo, the ninjetti rangers were chilling at the park.
"That means nothing," the Black Ranger countered.
"It does when everyone else in the photo is missing," Jade angrily shook the photo in his face.
The Black Ranger staggered back a step, "Wha-no…that can't be..."
"Maybe you should keep in better touch with your so called friends, Tommy," Jade continued.
Tommy ripped off his helmet and stormed forwards grabbing the insolent girl by the arms he began shaking her, "Who are you? How do you know all this?"
Jade's eyes widened in fear and she was unable to speak as the man her family considered family continued to yell in her face and shake her senseless, "You're… you're hurting me," was all she managed to get out but it was a tiny whisper that could barely be heard over Tommy's yells.
"Enough! Let her go," a brunette boy stepped up to the two.
"Did I tell you to reveal your identity? Just because I did, didn't mean you could," Tommy argued with the boy.
"I'm the leader here, you listen to me. Let the girl go now," Connor shifted on his feet, making it clear to his mentor that if he didn't listen to him things would get physical even though Connor knew he would lose in a battle with Tommy.
Tommy released Jade who stumbled back, rubbing her now bruised arms.
Connor turned to her, "It's alright, now if you could just tell us what happened," he led her back to the makeshift cot.
Still frightened Jade nodded her head and noticed that the Blue and Yellow Rangers had followed their leader and demorphed as well, leaving an African American boy and a petite girl in their places.
"First let's start with who you are," Kira suggested, shooting her teacher a wary look, she had never seen him so violent before with an innocent. "I'm Kira, this is Ethan, and that's Connor," she introduced herself and the other teenagers.
"My name is Jade Hart," that caused Tommy took look at her with a puzzled expression. She wondered why he hadn't demorphed, only taken off his helmet. Did he perceive her as a threat?
"Yes, Kim is my mom. The original Pink Ranger," she clarified for the teenagers. Tommy scrutinized the girl once more. Yes, she definitely looked like Kim. And she was what seventeen that would be around the time…no she couldn't be.
"And before you ask, no, you're not my father," Jade could see the look on his face and answered his question before he could even ask.
"Look who I am is not what's important here," Jade took a deep breath and began to tell them about the attacks and how her family was now missing.
"What would Mesogog want with former Power Rangers?" Ethan questioned.
"Unless he knows about Dr. O's past and is using them as leverage," Connor suggested.
"No," Tommy shook his head, "As Jade pointed out earlier, I've been out of touch for some time."
With a sudden thought Tommy went over to his computer and began typing away as the others gave each other confused looks at the abrupt change.
Tommy sighed; "It's not just my old team that's missing, all the former Power Rangers are," Tommy had tried to contact other former Reds that he kept in touch with after the Forever Red mission, but no such luck. This was bad.
Jade swung her legs back and forth as they discussed various strategies to rescue the missing Power Rangers. In the end, they decided that they should wait until they had more information.
It was decided that Jade would stay with Tommy, their earlier conflict forgotten in light of the situation and the tense emotions it evoked. It was much easier this way than having to come up with some cover story for the teen's parents.
"Alright, the house is upstairs," Tommy led Jade up the stairs and showed her around.
"So you built a Command Center beneath your house," she asked incredulously.
"Yeah, easy access," he shrugged not understanding what the big deal was.
"Easy to explain when a visitor accidentally stumbles upon it," Jade mumbled not thinking it was a very well hidden place for such technology.
"And here's where you can stay," Tommy opened the door to a spare bedroom.
Jade walked in and looked around finding the room sparsely furnished and lacking a feminine touch, it was obvious that her mother's friend was a bachelor.
"Here," Tommy came back and handed her some sweats to sleep in since she had left home in such a rush she didn't bring anything with her, "We'll go shopping tomorrow."
Tommy threw his covers off, giving up on the sleep that was eluding him. He hadn't realized how distant he had become. How could he not have caught on to his friends steadily disappearing? And how had he not known that Kim had a daughter?
Grabbing a glass and filling it with water Tommy leaned against the kitchen counter and wondered how Jade had never come up in conversation with any of their mutual friends. Then, he realized there had been slip ups over the years, but usually he or someone else quickly changed the subject whenever any mention of Kim came up when he was around.
Frowning Tommy set his glass down as he heard strange noises. Prepared for anything he went out to locate the source of the noise and was led to the guest room that he had put Jade up in. He wasn't used to having other people stay in his house, much less teenage girls and he wasn't sure what to do. So he lightly wrapped on the door. When there was no answered, he pushed the door open slightly.
He leaned in a bit and saw Jade thrashing around on the bed, moaning and obviously having a nightmare. Tommy then made his way fully into the room and strode over to the bed. He took her into his arms and whispered soothing words to her. God she reminded him so much of her mother when she was younger and he couldn't stand to see her cry.
Thus, Jade spent her first night in Reefside crying in Dr. Oliver's arms as the events of the last few days finally caught up to her.
