Short chapter, hard to write, late of me. Sorry. Next chapters will be better, I just needed to wrap up some stuff. Don't give up on me please :
Caitlyn walked through the bustling streets of Piltover. Despite her job being to deal with criminals and Vi's mishaps, she always loved returning to her city and seeing it in peace, a sign that she was doing her role just fine. Whenever her hand wasn't waving at the people who greeted her, it moved towards the cheek on her constantly moving head as she began to think.
'And nothing seems too destroyed... Ezreal did a good job. I thought he'd just piss her off to no end.' Caitlyn thought, laughing at the thought. Ezreal was smart but his personality clashed with Vi's almost whenever they spoke but, with Jayce being busy, he was the only other person she could've asked.
As the sheriff walked inside her office building, she began to hear odd noises. The closer she got to her door, the louder they became. Out of curiosity, she pressed her ear to the door.
'You deserve this! Just take it.'
Caitlyn's eyes widened as she heard Ezreal say that, followed by a grunt. She opened the door quickly, with her eyes closed.
"What the hell are you tw- oh," Caitlyn said, opening her eyes mid sentence.
"Oh, hey cupcake, how's it going?" Vi said, as she wrapped her arm tighter around the explorer's neck. Caitlyn sighed as she sat on the edge of her desk, watching her partner pinning Ezreal down. His hand waved as if asking for help.
"What's going on here?" Caitlyn asked, sighing. Whatever it was, it was sure going to be amusing.
"Ezreal decided it'd be nice to take my food when I left the room," Vi said, sitting on his back.
"You took my- ffff," Ezreal began. He raised his head to speak before it was slammed down again by Vi's hand.
"I'm guessing you had fun this week then?" Caitlyn asked, as Vi stood up slowly, dragging the explorer with her.
"Guess so. How was Izuna? What did she say?" Vi asked, crossing her arms.
"Jayce ended up telling her... I ran into him at the institute. I got summoned so many times on the way, how were things here?" Caitlyn said, sitting at her desk.
"Wait, you didn't even talk to her? What the hell, Cait?" Vi said, angrily.
"What's the matter? She knows Jayce, she's summoned him a few times. I ran into Joey and he said she's fine and has just been practicing with Mel," Caitlyn said, sighing. She couldn't remember if he had said that but it seemed safe to assume. "Relax, Vi. Oh, and let Ezreal go now."
"Fine... Guess that makes sense. Took you forever anyway," Vi said, releasing the boy.
"Jinx destroyed a restroom as a result of one of her pranks. Other than that nothing else happened," Ezreal said, stretching his arms. He gave Vi a half wink and, as he walked by her, whispered. "You owe me one for this."
"Get out of here, I'm sick of you," Vi said, playfully pushing Ezreal out. She sat on Caitlyn's desk.
"I'm back for a minute and you already start doing things to annoy me?" Caitlyn asked, staring up at her.
"Of course! Only a few more days, I can't wait," Vi said, excitedly.
"Neither can I," Caitlyn said, smirking. It was good to see Vi again.
Inside the clustered room, a quiet sigh could be heard. The summoner stood in a pile of her own clothes; dresses, shirts, skirts, and even a few robes made a makeshift carpet. Izuna stared at herself in her mirror.
She began to think about her body for once. She had never really done anything special; she was naturally slender, pretty short, and had near perfect skin. She slid a white hairband into place, pulling any loose strands of hair into place, and put on a short, plain strapless black dress with a white sash around her waist, tying it into a small bow behind her.
'Will my body change that much in four years?' Izuna thought comparing herself to Mel. She stared down at herself. 'I should get going.'
With that, Izuna walked out her door and began to head towards the student wing of the institute. She thought about how soon her former classmates would have to move to another building for resident summoners as the new students would come in for their first year. Her head began to bob as she continued thinking.
'I wonder what's gonna happen with me then? There's rarely new teachers so maybe I won't have to m-'
"Oh, I'm sorry, Izuna," a familiar voice said as she quickly found herself on the floor. A hand appeared in front of her and she grabbed it, pulling herself up. She quickly realized who it was and put on a bright smile.
"Hey Joey! I haven't seen you since graduation," Izuna said, giving a small wave.
"Seems like forever, doesn't it? Time flies without having to sit in a desk for eight hours a day. How have you been? You look beautiful, what's the occasion?" Her former classmate asked, returning the wave.
"T-thanks, hehe," Izuna mumbled, being startled by how casually he said compliment. She regained her composure and answered the actual questions, with her still reddened face. "I've been alright. Practicing, waiting for Vi's return, and I'm going to dinner at Catherine's room with Joey and Mel."
"Ms. Mikado? Lucky you, her food is quite good, I hear. Hopefully I'll see you on the rift sometime; I've gotten into platinum rank recently. Lately I've been having to play more mid then top but it's alright. What will you do if Vi gets banned?" Joey asked. Izuna turned away slightly and bit her index finger.
'Dang it, why is Joey so perfect and casual about being the best summoner in our class.'
"I have a few champions I can turn to but it'd be nice to have my most trusted champion if I could," Izuna said, turning her head forward again. "I'll see you soon then. I'll be diamond rank at the same time as you, I bet."
The girl playfully stuck her tongue out and Joey smiled his signature smile. With a recently shaved face covered in stubble, he looked more adorable than usual. She was still surprised he didn't have a girlfriend; there sure wasn't a lack of interested girls.
"I should get going... It was nice talking to you Joey," Izuna said, brushing imaginary specs of dust from her dark outfit.
"Alright, have fun. Tell everyone I said hello then," Joey said, beginning to walk.
As soon as he began to turn a corner, Izuna dropped her waving hand and began to walk towards her destination.
Having already stopped halfway to the student wing, almost a minute later she found herself standing outside of Mel's door. She knocked on the door, placing her fidgety hands behind her back.
She had begun to get a strange nervousness as she neared the room. A tiny worry had built up of Mel saying something inappropriate as a joke that maybe Joey wouldn't be too fond of but, then again, Mel was usually extremely proper to anyone. It seemed like a stupid thing to worry about; her overly analytical mind always found a way to slightly stress her out.
"Izuna, you look lovely," Mel's voice said, snapping Izuna out of her thoughts.
As always, the older girl looked incredible, making Izuna question her femininity. She dressed herself in a white and black Ionian styled kimono with slightly floral pattern, a similar black sash, and a matching white flower pin holding up her hair, which was styled into a bun. She looked graceful and beautiful.
"Y-you ready?" Izuna said, unable to muster up anything else. She felt so plain.
"Of course, it was nice of them to want to invite me; aren't most teachers done with their students after the year?" Mel said, walking out, closing the door behind her. She gave Izuna a hug. "I hope you decided to wear underwear today."
"I-I always do!" Izuna said, despite her current lie. She turned around and began to walk, pulling the front of her dress up. "They always say how good of a student you were..."
"That's nice of them. Did you ever meet Allison or Caleb?" Mel asked, looking at her.
"No? Who are they?" Izuna asked as they walked back towards Catherine's room. The names did sound familiar.
"Mr. Nakano and Ms. Mikado's former teammates. From their old team. He has told you, right?" Mel asked, sounding a bit concerned.
"Oh! They sounded quite familiar... I haven't met them. Why?" Izuna asked.
"I met Caleb during a trip to Piltover once. He told me a few stories about some memorable matches and it kinda made me admire Mr. Nakano and Ms. Mikado. He never told you about his Baron Nashor steal with Fizz?" Mel asked.
"No... What did he do?" Izuna asked, intrigued. Joey rarely spoke of his team for some reason.
"Caleb told me they were losing and the enemy team was doing Baron. He made Fizz leap in, the enemy jungler smited early due to his surprising maneuver, and he stole it with Fizz's Urchin Strike. He said it made them be able to come back and win," Mel said, smiling slightly.
"He barely talks about that stuff. It's hard to believe he was ever a summoner sometimes, he rarely acts like that part of his life ever happened," Izuna sighed. "Apparently he was offered a chance to be in the challenger tier but he declined it."
"I wouldn't doubt that. From what I've heard he was quite the summoner... Are you nervous?" Mel asked, stopped a few feet from their destination.
"A little, hehe..." Izuna said, scratching her cheek slightly. "Can you tell?"
"You haven't stopped playing with your hands since I first saw you today. Just relax, it's just dinner," Mel said, grabbing her hands. She stared down immediately. "Your hands are freezing, are you okay?"
"Huh? I didn't notice... But I'm okay. Let's go, I'm getting hungry," Izuna said, smiling. The girl attempted to take a step forwards but Mel, who still held her hands, pushed her against the wall and gave her a quick kiss.
"Save room for dessert," Mel said, letting her hands go as she walked forward.
"Let's just get through this without awakening Joey's angry father side, alright?" Izuna responded, smiling slightly.
"He has one of those? I wouldn't have imagined that," Mel said, as Izuna finally knocked on the door.
"I'm actually not sure either. We don't need to find out though," Izuna said, as the door opened a few seconds later.
"You guys came just in time, the food is almost ready. It's nice to see you again, Mel, it has been a while," Catherine said, moving aside. She dressed similar to Mel, which was expected due to their common home city-state.
"Thank you for having me, Ms. Mikado. Do you need any help?" Mel said, bowing slightly.
"If you want to... I have it almost ready," Catherine said, turning to Izuna. "Joey's being lazy on the couch."
"I'll go help her with the food, alright?" Mel said to Izuna. She nodded in response.
As the two headed into the kitchen, Izuna headed towards the small, living room area. She passed the decorated dinner table she had already seen a few days after her graduation, which was set up for them but the last seat would be filled this time. As she neared the couch, her father turned and gave her a wave.
"How are you?" Joey said, as she sat next to him.
"Better now," Izuna responded quickly. He was surely talking about their conversation that morning. This dinner had occupied her mind enough so that she'd stop thinking about the notes. "I'm excited. We're going to start our attempt in ranked matches when Vi returns."
"Hopefully she stays out of trouble this time. You look nice... Though, not as nice as your old man," Joey said, jokingly.
"You're talking like you're a sixty year old man. You're only like... Double my age," Izuna responded, laughing.
"That's true. I do remember a while ago when you weren't so sassy at me; before you could talk very well. It was all downhill after that," he said, receiving a jab from his daughter.
"Shut up, I'm not sassy," Izuna began, rolling her eyes. "Tell me about Allison."
"She was the jungler for Catherine and I's team after we graduated. I don't know what else to tell you; she was like you, a very good summoner. Although, a bit too aggressive sometimes. Catherine didn't mind so they got along pretty well. Why?" Joey asked, finishing his small story.
"Mel asked of I'd ever met her. She said she met Caleb and he told her some stories about your team. You never speak about that to me," Izuna said, curiously. "Why?"
"No reason in specific. Nothing seemed to special; you'll do incredible things during matches eventually. It'll surpass anything I've probably done," Joey said, laughing. "The League has changed extremely from the time I was a summoner."
"Come here, you two. Dinner is ready," came Catherine's voice from the other room.
"Well...I've never stolen a Baron," Izuna said, standing up.
Joey stood up slowly and scratched his chin slightly. As he began to walk, he sighed and shook his head, signaling her to follow.
"I can't remember which one you might be talking about, c'mon lets go eat," Joey said. Izuna followed with wide eyes.
'What does he mean which one?!'
