Ryder was busy moving scrap wood from the barn to the bonfire when Kitty walked around the corner. It'd been a few days since her performance at the karaoke bar but he hadn't seen her since.

"Recovered yet?" He chuckled when he spotted her.

"Ughhh." Kitty groaned. "I had the most awful hangover and I don't even remember most of the night but I think I'm nearly back to normal."

"Good to hear. Do you remember singing to Paul?"

"Unfortunately, yes. Why couldn't my brain have erased the memory of me doing that? I still can't believe it happened."

"I can't believe it either."

"Stupid alcohol."

"Haha, you looked like you were having fun though!"

"Yeah I never thought I'd like singing in public but there you go. I might start doing it more."

"What do you mean?"

"It turns out Blaine from school was also at the bar, he saw my little show and asked if I wanted to join New Directions."

"As in the Glee Club?"

"Yeah."

"You can't be serious."

"He said I had a very nice voice and it'd be even better when I'm sober and they'd love to have me."

"But that's social suicide."

"Ryder, look at me! I'm practically at the bottom anyway, at least I'd be at the bottom with other people. Hey, isn't Brittany in Glee?"

"Yeah but that's different. She joined to take it down for Sue. She wasn't joining because she liked it."

"She stayed because she liked it though."

"Knowing Britt, she probably forgot how to leave."

"Well she stayed popular and never got slushied."

"That's because everyone knew Santana would take them down if they did anything to her. Plus Britt is sweet to everyone so everyone likes her. Not the same story for you now, is it?"

"Hey!"

"What? You're not exactly nice to everyone. You're rude, sarcastic and often very mean." Ryder saw her smile drop and quickly added "But I still like you though because I've seen through it and others would too if you got to know them, or let them get to know you."

'Well I'm auditioning for Glee Club."

"If you're sure… then good luck!"

"Thanks." Kitty scowled before storming off back to the house, annoyed that Ryder hadn't been more supportive. She stomped up to her room and slammed the door. She threw herself onto her bed before scrambling for her iPod, deciding she needed to find the perfect audition song.

Two days later and Kitty was now stood in front of the New Directions, ready to audition for the Glee Club. She had spoken to Ryder a couple of times since their disagreement over Glee but they hadn't had a proper conversation. He didn't even know her audition was today.

"Hey, don't be nervous." Blaine smiled at her. "You'll be great. I heard you sing before and you have a good voice."

"Thanks. I've just never sung in front of people before… when I've been sober anyway." Kitty smiles slightly, wishing she could drink now for some Dutch courage.

"Well when you're ready Kitty, let's hear it." Mr Schuester smiled.

"Okay… well my name is Kitty Wilde and I would love to be a part of this group." She smiled.

"Phone rings, don't wanna pick it up. I'm so scared I'm going to say too much. I tip toe around your questions, why you got to dig so deep?" She starts to sing.

Tears fall, and the glasses break. Inside these walls, the floorboards shake. But from outside, it's alright, as long as you're looking from fifty feet.

I've been trying, trying to hold my head up high. I've been lying, lying keeping it all inside. Keeping it all inside, trying not to trust you, yeah. Take another leaf, I'm a book, yeah?

I'm done, I give up. I don't wanna pretend no more. That's it, so what? I've lost a friend before, gonna say it like it is. No more wondering 'What if', that ain't the way you oughta live. Cause I don't want you to love me, if you don't want to love me for me.

Cause I don't want you to love me, if you don't wanna love me for me. A doll house is all that you could see, but it's so far from my reality. I got problems, I got issues, sometimes it's all too much for me. Wrap it up with a pretty little bow, but there are some things you can't sugar coat. So I give it to you anyway, even though it won't taste so sweet.

I been trying trying to hold my head up high, I been lying lying, keeping it all inside. Maybe I could trust you, yeah, take another leaf, I'm a book yeah yeah?

I'm done, I give up, I don't wanna pretend no more. That's it, so what? So what? I've lost a friend before, gonna say it like it is, no more wondering "What if?" That ain't the way you oughta live, cause I don't want you to love me, if you don't wanna love me for me.

Sick of all the fighting, all the slamming of the doors. The pain, the parents, too deep to ignore. Step back, step back, can you see it through my eyes? I know, I know, it may be a surprise. Don't wanna be perceived for something that I'm not, just wanna be accepted for the little that I got. If you could see me now in my glass house, not ready to let you in. Oh, yeah yeah. Not ready to let you in.

I'm done, I give up, I don't wanna pretend no more, that's it, so what? I've lost a friend before. Gonna say it like it is, no more wondering "What if?" That ain't the way you oughta live, Cause I don't want you to love me if you don't wanna love me for me.

Cause I don't want you to love me, if you don't wanna love me for me."

Kitty sang, keeping her eyes mostly on the floor. She glanced around the room a few times during the song. As she finished, a movement caught her eye by the door. She turned round to see a figure disappear from the doorway. A tall figure that had brown Bieber hair and was wearing a letterman jacket.

She stared at the spot where he'd been stood as the Glee Club clapped.

"Kitty… Kitty?" She heard them trying to get her attention.

"Sorry." She mumbled.

"That was great. Blaine was right, you have a really good voice. Welcome to the Glee Club!" Mr Schuester grinned.
