Gilberta was quietly reading a Magazine when the doorbell rang. She's been staying at home nowadays so she also knew who this visitor would be. He's been consistently visiting and she knew the doorbell would ring a few minutes after Ludwig leaves the house.
Matthew stood in the doorway. His timid smile was honestly heart warming and she doesn't have the energy to be mean to him. She already figured he means well and honestly she mostly blames herself for this situation. She never found comfort in blaming someone else for her actions. She was done blaming, when her parents died she blamed them everyday and nothing changed until she herself did something.
She closed her eyes and she stepped back from the doorway, a gesture of welcoming him in. Matthew entered the house and quietly spoke.
"Please sit down, have you eaten breakfast yet?"
"I've had a cup of coffee." Gilberta replied.
"Would you like me to peel you some fruits?"
"Sure."
Matthew smiled at her once again as he headed to their kitchen without hesitation.
It was nice and comfortable like this every morning, of course there was awkwardness but Gilberta cherished the feelings Matthew showered her with. It's been almost a week since she got out of the hospital and almost everyday since she got home Matthew would come bringing her gifts, from fruits to pillows and vitamins. It feels like her heart is about to burst from happiness when she thinks that someone is there to care for her aside from her brother. For the longest time it felt like it was only her and Ludwig against the world after their parents died.
She was thankful Matthew was considerate of her feelings first though, when she said she wasn't ready to talk about the situation when he first came to visit. She said she was too exhausted physically and mentally. Today after almost a week the bruises have lightened and her mind seems clearer she took a deep sighed and decided one way or another they'll talk about it.
Matthew appeared carrying a tray filled with a bowl of mixed fruits and 2 glasses of water. He placed it down a table and looked at Gilberta who signalled him to sit near her.
"I've already decided on what I'll do." Gilberta stated as a matter of fact.
Matthew looked at her with a soft expression.
"Me too." was he short reply.
Gilberta was a bit surprised with his quick and quite a mysterious response. Curious she asked,
"And what will you do?"
Without hesitation Matthew replied,
"Support you with whatever your decision will be."
"Don't you want to have a say in it? I mean usually men like to control decisions don't they?"
"Honestly I'd just want to support you, I don't think I know a lot about you to be making such a life changing decision for you."
"Your life would be affected to you know, what if I decided to keep her and ask for child support?" Gilberta's tone was serious but Matthew couldn't help but smile a bit at her reaction.
"Then I'd take responsibility, you didn't make her alone you know."
Gilberta's eyes widened at his response. It was a breath of fresh air to be hearing something like that. She wasn't such a newbie in the industry so she knows the dramas and the scandals and she wasn't so blind to the world not to know that as much as such a decision is hard for her it would also be hard for Matthew. A wave of pleasant feeling filled her heart and even without wanting to tears flowed from her eyes.
This surprised Matthew and he panicked a bit. But he slowly placed his hands on her back and whispered. "It's okay whatever you decide no one will hate you for it."
This made Gilberta cry all the more and without a warning she threw her hands around him. And sobbed on his chest. Matthew reciprocated the embrace while still comfortingly patting her back.
Artist Note: I still can't think of a title for this but I think we've reached a new Milestone in the story with a decent interaction! It flowed all quite naturally as I am writing this. I still don't know where this will end up in as an author but I do hope I can create a great story for everyone :)
Suggestion and Comments always welcome! Please leave a review if you can!
P.S. Also changed the story's rating from K+ to M. Although I want the story to be child friendly I think the theme itself is hard to be kid friendly
