Sesshomaru and Rin (Part 2: END)

Rin had always been his pillar of support. He was never into emotions until he met Rin. She had him crave for warmth and love. She had always supported him when things were not quite up to par to his level. She had seen him at his weakest and his strongest. She was always there to give him the push he needed when he did not know how. She was his empathy when he had none for others. She was the kindness to his cruel. She was the one who gave him moral support when he had none. He had lasted two years without her, and he already lost so much. He lived without living. He endured but did not feel strong. He outshined everyone, only to be alone. He fought his way to be on top, only to feel unaccomplished. He had a house without warmth.

Life had returned to the way it was before he ever met Rin. Empty. It was emptiness that currently lived in his hollow heart. He wanted her back, and he had thoughts of doing just that. As much as he wanted to, he stopped himself. He had looked in the mirror for hours, debating with himself if he should be selfish. He had flashbacks, memories, whatever you call them, entering his mind of the days he had when Rin was still his. It was the fact that as much as he wanted her back, he did not deserve her. He had always been a selfish man. Always thinking of himself more than he did her. It was his last memory of her when he had broken up with her on her birthday that made his decision clear. He could see her expression clearly. She tried to hold in her tears, to show him she could be strong too. This was the moment when he realized he had made a big mistake but did not understand it until he lost her completely.

The day after he requested to break their relationship, he had begun his journey to fame. Everything was going according to plan, but fame could only go so far before frustration would settle in. Kagura seemed to be undeterred by it. He had forgotten how much fame could cause a disruption in his private life. This time there was no Rin to soothe his soul.

Sesshomaru shook away the memories and his thoughts. He had to go back to his work that he sacrificed so much for. After his father finally retired and gave him the CEO position of the Taisho Enterprises, he seemed accomplished at first, but then it got old fast. Now that he had gotten what he wanted, was there anything else he wanted to accomplish? He no longer had any goals after that. Taisho Enterprises continued to flourish without a downfall in sight. With his goals met, there was nothing else he wanted in life (or so he thought).

Now, here he stood in front of Rin's flower shop. The scent of flowers permeated the air. He entered the shop, only to be greeted by Kohaku, Rin's so-called fiancé, and herself with their backs turned to him. They seemed to be preoccupied by their conversation to notice him. Their close proximity put him on edge and he couldn't help but clench his left hand.

"Kohaku, you need to tell her. She needs to know," Rin stated in a hushed tone though Sesshomaru could hear it clearly with his demonic hearing.

"But what if she won't accept us," Kohaku murmured, his voice soft and trembling.

Rin smiled at him and delicately put her hand behind his back as if to comfort him. Sesshomaru clenched his right hand this time while his teeth gritted against each other. He could feel his nails digging into his palms and knew there was blood dripping from his own hands. His jealousy overtook the pain.

"Then we'll show her that true love knows no boundaries," she told him with confidence and finality. Her smile is bright as if nothing could taint it.

Sesshomaru froze and he felt his jealousy disappear only to have it replaced with regret and guilt. He stood tall but felt weak in that moment. And as if he could not take the feelings inside him any longer, he turned and walked out of the shop, letting the two be.

Sesshomaru walked alone. Where he goes, nobody knows.
