I Don't Own Percy Jackson

Katie and I ended up being thrown over the shoulders of one of the man-bears, and carried off. He didn't seem all that bothered that our bags were thrown unceremoniously to the ground. He also seemed completely oblivious that two girls who were trained to fight, and perfectly capable of taking down a monster his size, were kicking and punching him with all our strength.

The second twin wasn't as lucky as his brother with Tyson. When he went to grab my brother, Tyson managed to dodge him at the last moment, causing the hairy man to tumble into the open closet. I heard him smash into the back wall, and flinched at the sickening noise it made. Tyson slammed the door behind him, and looked down towards me and Katie, who was still pounding her fists against the back of the man-bear carrying us.

'Run' I mouthed to him. He looked at me pleading, but I shook my head, telling him I didn't want him to follow me. Before we turned a corner, the last thing I saw was Tyson picking up the bags we had dropped before he ran away.

We had been stuck on the man-bear's shoulder for at least five minutes, which meant that Katie's and mine's ADHD started playing up so we were in agony. Not literally I should point out, but when you're stuck hanging over a man-bears shoulder with nothing to do was pretty much agony for anyone with ADHD. Or least have a short attention span.

Eventually we stopped, and the man-bear removed a hand from my thighs where he had been keeping me on his shoulder and knocked on something. As soon as he finished knocking, thinking quickly before he could pin me down again, I lay my hands flat on his back and flipped myself off his massive shoulder and stumbled to my feet.

I quickly gained my balance and spun around to face a stunned man-bear. I uncapped my pen, and relaxed slightly as it grew it the familiar three foot long sword that had never let me down since I gained it. I pointed the blade at the tip of his hairy nose, smirking as he was forced to go cross eyed to keep the tip in his eyesight.

"Let my friend go, and I won't hurt you." I spoke lowly.

"Why couldn't you do that earlier?" Katie asked, sounding really bored being stuck on the man-bears shoulder.

"He looks strong; I wouldn't have been able to get lose." I defended myself. "Now let my friend go."

The monster bared his sharp looking teeth at me in a sinister grin, growling deeply in his throat. I braced myself for an attack – I wasn't kidding when I said he looked strong – but none came. Instead, the white door behind the man-bear was thrown open. Giving Katie a wonderful view of a very angry looking Luke Castellan in nothing but grey pants, giving us girls a lovely view of his muscular chest. I'll admit, I was staring.

"What the Hades is going on here?" I heard Katie gasp when she realized who the blonde was. From what I could see, she was having trouble deciding whether to look at his face or his chest, not that I could blame her.

Hearing her gasp, Luke finally seemed to realize that she existed. He turned to her, and gave her one of his million dollar smiles.

"Katie Gardner? Wow, wouldn't have expected to see you here. It's been a while, what have you been up to?"

"Oh you know, just hanging around." She said casually, patting the man-bear's back, who, by the way, was still looking at me, growling.

Recognition flashed in Luke's eyes.

"Put her down Oreius, wouldn't want our guest to be uncomfortable would we?" Reluctantly, the man bear dropped Katie onto the floor, making her yelp in pain when she landed on her butt.

"Gently Oreius," Luke snapped. "What did I just say about keeping our guest comfortable?"

"Guest's," I finally spoke up. "You wouldn't forget about me would you Luke? You know, the girl you tried to kill."

"Sophia! Glad to see you're still breathing." He said pleasantly, as though he attempted to murder me last summer.

"Wish I could say the same about you." I growled.

"I would have thought that you of all people would have forgiven me by now. From what I've seen you have a knack for forgiving people."

"I forgive people who I think deserve to be forgiven."

I kept my face blank as I stared into his eyes, not letting him crack me.

"I hope you realize that I was forced into doing that. You're my friend Sophia; I would never hurt my friends like that." For a second I almost believed him, but then I remembered the scorpian.

"Oh, right, forgive me. I don't know the proper way to react when someone asks me to be their queen, and then sets a scorpian on me when I decline." I snapped sarcastically.

"Oh it's quite alright Princess," I raised an eyebrow at him, princess? "Why don't we step inside and catch up? I'm sure you'll have plenty to tell me about camp."

He moved out of the way and gestured with his arm to the open doorway. I looked past him, and recognised the red walls. I pretended to think about the offer for a moment, and eventually shook my head.

"I'd rather stay out here."

"Here?" He asked, his smile slipping slightly. "In the hallway?"

"Yeah, why not? It's such a beautiful hallway." I gestured around me at the dull, bare, beige walls. "Well, it would be beautiful if you actually decorated. Hey! Maybe that's what we should talk about."

"What a wonderful idea," Luke looked as though the idea was anything but wonderful. "But how about we talk inside the room, you must always be polite to your host after all."

"Really? Because I remember my mom telling me it was always the host's job to make the guest as comfortable as possible. And to be honest I'm quite comfortable out here."

Luke sighed and closed his eyes in frustration.

"You're making this very difficult Sophia."

"Didn't they tell you? I'm a very difficult person in general." Katie giggled quietly from her place on the ground. I gave her a quick wink and looked back at Luke smirking.

Luke glared at me, then turned to look at the man-bear – Oreius – and nodded once. He turned on his heel and stalked into the room grumpily. I looked at Katie in confusion but she just shrugged. Before I could open my mouth to question the blonde who had just disappeared into the red room, a big hand grabbed the back of my jacket, lifted me up and threw me head first into the room.

I hissed as I skidded across the top of the carpet, the rough material burning the skin of my hands and chin. I tried sitting up, but I ended up getting pushed back down by something heavy. I groaned as my chin hit the ground with a smack.

"Oh my gods, Sophia! Are you okay?" Katie asked as she tried to get off my back.

"Yeah, great," I groaned as Katie finally got off me. "I just love being thrown into rooms. Quick question though, how much do you weigh?"

Katie glared at me and stuck her hand out for me to grab.

"So glad you two could finally join me." When I was back on my feet, I turned and glared at the blonde who now wore a black button down shirt.

Luke was sat on one of the red couches facing us, his feet propped up casually on the block like coffee table, his arms draped across the back of the couch, smiling at us as though we hadn't just been thrown into the room.

"Now, now ladies no need to look upset. I am merely looking out for my cousins. After all, family has to stick together."

I laughed incredulously and crossed my arms across my chest.

"Who are you to talk about family? Last time I checked, family doesn't kill family."

"In case you didn't notice, our family isn't known for being your average loving, caring family." He put his feet back on the floor and sat forward, clasping his hands between his knees. "Our parents especially."

"What do you mean?" Luke chuckled.

"I would've thought that you of all people would have been a bit smarter than this. Take a seat."

"I'd rather stand thank you." I argued, keeping my eyes locked on his.

"I'll pass," Katie supplied, moving closer to me, crossing her arms.

"Your choice," Luke leant back into the cushions, once again propping his feet up on the coffee table. "Anyway, as I was saying. The godly side of our family isn't exactly known for being faithful. The cheat on their husbands and wives with their own brother's and sister's, they've killed their own parents. They've raped mortals, even tricked them into believing that they love them. Using them to breed demigods, just so they can use their children to do things they're too scared to do themselves. They then leave those mortals with a half-blood that they have to protect against monster's they have no clue how to fight in the first place, leaving them heat broken. They use mortals for their own gain; they use us, their children."

"How can you know that?" Katie snapped. "How do you know that they use mortals? How do you know that they don't love them? How do you know that they don't love us? Immortality is a curse, being forced to watch your loved one's die while you never change. Of course it's going to look as though they don't care; they have to pretend to protect themselves. To protect –"

"Oreius, keep guard outside. Don't let anyone in." Luke ordered, cutting across Katie.

"Yes sir," Oreius the man-bear growled. He stomped out of the room, slamming the white door behind him.

As soon as the door was shut, Luke jumped to his feet and began pacing in front of the windows. The sun had now risen above the horizon, lighting up the blue ocean. After a while, Luke turned to face us.

"All they care about is protecting themselves. If you believe otherwise you've been brainwashed." He glanced over to the golden sarcophagus. Slowly, as though in a trance, he began walking towards it. "I've been shown a better life, we're demigods are worshipped. Where we don't have to hide from the world. But we can only get that if we bring the gods to their knees."

He looked over at me, his eyes dancing manically.

"Help me Sophia, together we would rule forever by Kronos. Worshiped by all, feared by all."

"Kronos?" I asked, trying to ignore where this conversation was heading and Katie's confused and worried eyes on me. "As in the titan Zeus had cut up into pieces and thrown into Tartarus? That Kronos?"

"Of course, what other Kronos is there?" Luke asked looking bewildered.

"I don't know, but I was hoping there would be another one I didn't know about." I admitted, looking down at my feet.

"Join me Sophia, the offer still stands." He moved to stand behind the golden stand, placing his hands either side of the bejewelled tiara.

"No thanks, I've got better offers." I declined, shifting uncomfortably. 'Tyson, please help!'

"You sure?" He moved around the stand and walked towards me, hands in his pockets.

"Positive." I stiffened as he started to circle me. 'Tyson, where are you?'

"Just think about it for a moment." He stopped behind me, leaning down to whisper in my ear. "You sitting a throne, dressed in the most expensive and finest clothes you can find. A glittering crown on your head, servants to waiting on you. People bowing down to you, showering you with gifts and respect."

"As tempting as that sounds, I'm going to have to say no."

"Why?" He yelled, moving so he could stand in front of me. "What is there in this world that makes you turn down a life of royalty?"

"My family for thing, my friends for another." I defended myself, unwilling to back down. "I am not going to throw that all away just for a crown. Which, no offence, doesn't look all that appealing."

Luke yelled in frustration, causing me and Katie to step back in surprise. He pointed a finger at me and opened his mouth to say something, but was stopped by the Oreius being thrown through the wooden door and then through the glass windows. Katie and I looked at eachother in surprise then turned to the door where the hulking frame of my half-brother Tyson was standing, his fists clenched in anger.

"No one, hurts, my, big sister!" He yelled, looking at Luke angrily.

"Sister?" He looked at me in surprise.

"Oh yeah, forgot to mention. I have a Cyclops for a half-brother. Isn't that great?" I asked enthusiastically.

Luke started to back up as Tyson stalked towards him, causing him to walk into the stand the tiara was on sending it to the ground. Causing it to fall to break in half.

"No!" Luke yelled. "Do you have any idea how much –?"

Tyson grabbed him by the front of his shirt and threw him into the wall above the bed, causing Luke to fall onto the bed with a groan.

"You have no idea how happy I am to see you Tyson," Katie breathed, and I nodded in agreement.

"Tyson did good?" He asked innocently.

"Tyson did very good." I praised. "But right now we really have to go."

I made a point to look at Luke, who somehow was already slowly trying to get up.

"I second that," Katie agreed.

I grabbed one of Tyson's big hands and dragged him to the door then realized something.

"Ty, where are the bags?"

"In lifeboat for safety." He answered, looking proud of himself for thinking of something like that.

"Can you remember where the lifeboat is?" He nodded proudly and took the lead, my hand still in his.

Tyson dragged us through many different hallways and rooms, avoiding the monster's we came across as much as possible. Unfortunately, as it always has been with me, our luck ran out quite quickly.

We had made it to the deck and Tyson had quickly pointed out a life boat towards the bow of the ship. We made our way towards the boat, but were stopped before we had made it halfway across the deck by Luke and two very angry looking man-bears.

"Did you really think you'd get away that easily?" Luke asked, looking a bit ruffled.

"We were hoping," I shrugged.

"None of you are leaving this ship alive," He growled.

"You see, I don't agree with you there." I looked at him with fake sadness.

"Too bad," Luke growled, opening his arms wide, gesturing to the entire deck. "You're not getting out of here, you're surrounded."

Katie, Tyson and I moved together so that the three of us were back to back. We stood silently, watching as monster's appeared through doors, windows and seemingly out of thin air as well. I kept my hand wrapped firmly around riptide in my pocket.

I snuck a glance at Katie, and when she noticed me looking at her, I gave a slight nod. She widened her legs slightly, tensing as she closed her eyes. I grabbed Tyson's hand and squeezed gently, silently telling him to be ready. Hoping that he understood my meaning.

"I'm afraid to tell you that there is a slight problem with your plan." I raised my eyes to look directly into Luke's, letting him know I wasn't in a good mood. "First of all, you really shouldn't have tried to capture me on my father's domain. Secondly, you should never put flowers out when an angry daughter of Demeter is on board."

Vines leapt out of flower pots and hanging baskets, wrapping themselves around monster's necks, strangling them, and pulling them overboard.

I ran forward, dragging Tyson by his hand. I vaguely heard Katie behind us as tried to keep up with us and get rid of as many monsters as she could. Arrow's flew past our heads as monsters drew weapons.

I kept my eyes on Luke as we ran forward, smirking as he didn't try to move. His monster buddies either side of him.

I concentrated on the water surrounding us, willing it to rise. The water from a nearby paddling pool I hadn't noticed erupted and sped towards Luke, washing him and his friends towards the railing. The three of us picked up the pace trying to get to the boat that seemed further away than we first thought, Katie and I knocking down monster's with our powers, Tyson knocking out any that managed to get near us.

When we got to the boat, I quickly used whatever water was left to whip off the plastic covering. I ushered Katie and Tyson into the boat and looked back, I saw Luke yelling new orders and pointing towards us. Feeling a surge of power, I somehow managed to mentally grab one of the waves crashing against the side of the ship and pulled it up over all the monsters on deck and dragged them down into the ocean, giving Luke an unexpected salt water shower.

I saluted him with two fingers and hoped into the boat, giving Katie a quick order:

"Find me the thermos I had earlier then hold on."

I gave Luke a quick smile, then uncapped my sword and cut the wires that held the lifeboat to the ship.

"Sophia!" Katie handed me the thermos then gripped the side of the boat tightly.

"Great, hold on!" I yelled, trying to keep my balance on the free falling boat.

"I am!"

I pointed the top of the thermos to the back of the boat, and opened the lid. A huge gush of wind exploded out of the thermos, almost making me fall over and into Katie.

Tyson was clinging to the side of the boat, looking slightly green as we hit the water and began skipping over the waves. I kept the wind blowing for a while, and when I was sure we were far enough away from the Princess Andromeda I forced the lid back onto the thermos. I finally fell backwards from the force of the wind finally stopping.

"Sophia," Katie panted, keeping her head over the side of the boat. "Never do that again."

The three of us ended up sitting in silence for about five minutes, trying to catch out breaths. Finally Katie spoke up.

"Where are we?"

"36 degrees, 44 minutes north, 76 degrees and 2 minutes west. Not far from Virginia Beach, why?" I replied without thinking. Katie blinked at me.

"No reason." She looked out at the shoreline that was Virginia Beach. "Hang on, if that's Virginia Beach, that means that the Princess Andromeda travelled at least-"

"Five hundred and thirty nautical miles exactly." I answered automatically.

"Sophia," Katie said slowly. "How in Zeus' name do you know that?"

I paused for a moment, finally realizing what I had said.

"I-I'm sure."

"Maybe it has something to do with you being Poseidon's kid. It makes sense; why else would you be acting like a satnav?"

"Yeah, it's fantastic." I agreed sarcastically. "Who wouldn't want to be a walking, talking GPS unit?"

She looked at me apologetically, but I just shook it off. I looked towards the shore, slowly steering the boat towards the beach, trying to find somewhere we could dock without attracting unwanted attention. My eyes locked on Chesapeake Bay, maybe we could find somewhere to hide there.

"Try holding onto something again, I'm going to take us onto land. Less of a chance of Luke following us." I pointed my thermos towards the back of the boat again, not giving either of them a chance to argue. I opened the thermos cap causing a blast of air to shoot out, and began directing us towards the bay.

I didn't slow us down until I could feel myself getting dizzy. We were no longer on the ocean, I felt the change from salt water to fresh water immediately and instantly wished I was back on my father's domain. I didn't like it here, it didn't feel right.

"Are you alright Sophia?" Katie asked me in concern.

"Fine, just a bit dizzy. I'll be okay."

I sat down heavily on one of the benches and held my head in my hands. Thankfully the dizziness was slowly disappearing.

"Maybe we should land over there," I raised my head to see Katie pointing off towards a swampy looking area.

"Why there?"

"There'll be plenty of dirt, plants and water to protect ourselves if we're attacked. Besides, neither you nor Tyson look good."

"Okay," I relented and started to steer the boat towards land. "But only for a couple of minutes, we need to keep moving."

"We can't exactly get to the sea of monsters in a lifeboat can we?" Katie argued, knowing the reason I wanted to keep moving.

"Who say's we can't?" I lined the boat up with the muddy land, and made sure it was steady before climbing out, shouldered a bag and threw the thermos inside it. "C'mon, let's find somewhere we can hide for while. We don't need to catch any unwanted attention do we."

As soon as Katie and Tyson was out of the boat, both with a bag over their shoulders (and after making sure Tyson wasn't going to throw up) we began walking. We had barely gotten ten steps away from the boat when an arrow only just missed Katie when she bent down to pick up a yellow flower sticking out of the ground.

I quickly drew my sword and pointed it towards where the arrow came from, I quickly noticed Katie pulling a dagger from her belt.

"Who's there?" I called into the tall grass.

"Sophia?" I heard a familiar voice call.

"Will?" I squinted my eyes, and saw a human figure walking towards us. "What are you doing here?"

I threw my arms around the blonde, glad to see he was okay.

"I should be asking you that," He hugged me back, and we stood there for a few seconds before he pushed me back. "What happened?"

He lifted my chin with his finger, looking at the angry red mark Luke's carpet had kindly given me.

"Crazy cousin, don't ask." I waved him off. He grabbed one of my hands and ran a finger over the red, peeling skin of my palm. I hissed and tried to shake him off, but he held on going into doctor mode.

"Why can't I leave you alone for five minutes without you getting yourself hurt?"

"What can I say? The fates hate me." He looked at me pointedly and I sighed. "Okay so monster's hate me. Hey, by the way. Do I smell like sushi to you?"

"No," He said slowly, looking slightly confused. "Why?"

"No reason," I shook my head.

He looked behind me at Katie and Tyson and smiled widely, causing my stomach to flip.

"So she dragged you into this then?"

"You don't seriously think we'd let her go alone do you?" Katie joked, Will laughed as I glared at her.

"Good point," He agreed and I hit him lightly on his arm.

"Is it national annoy Sophia day or something?" I asked sarcastically, crossing my arms. Finally removing my hands from Will's grasp.

Will and Katie laughed while Tyson just looked on confused. When they finally stopped laughing, Will looked around uncomfortably.

"We probably shouldn't be standing here. I don't like the feel of this place." I nodded.

"At least I'm not the only one who thinks that."

"I know, travelling with you for two weeks last summer actually paid off for something." Will said, still looking around. "I told Annabeth that something didn't feel right, but she assured Clarisse and I that we would be safe here."

"Annabeth said did she?" I asked, feeling a bit annoyed that she didn't trust Will's instinct. But if I backed him up then maybe we could actually talk some sense into her. I swear she thought too much sometimes.

"C'mon, I'll take you to where we're hiding out for the time being." Will started towards the tall grass. I looked behind me at Katie and Tyson, nodding my head towards Will telling them to go first.

I waited until both of them were ahead of me, and looked around again. I really didn't like this place, and the sooner we got out of here the better.
