Chapter 9: Mai's POV
Okay now! Day one is almost over and its almost dream time. If one thing hasn't changed, it's that I still hate the dreams. I can figure the stuff out without the help from my Spirit Guide, but who could live without him? He's one of the few people I'm still open too. He knows how I feel and visa-versa.
"Well, I'm going to hit the hay!" I yelled to everyone, just to make sure they could hear me. I heard a few good nights and then I went to the dreamscape. As the orbs floated around, I could only wonder "Where or where has my little Gene gone?" I yelled. That's weird.. Usually he's here by now. Oh well, he'll most likely show up later.
"…" Time passed and yet I was still sitting here. Walking around, I see a lady with long black hair and a white night gown. Walking closer, I see she didn't go down without a fight. She's all scratched up with her nice gown ruined. "Hey, lady! Are you the ghost that holds up the barriers?" I yelled to her as I ran closer. Dumb Mai! Dumb!
Walking over to her, she was mumbling something I couldn't make out, while rocking back and forth. Oh god, she's insane. "Qui miserunt eum in odio transibunt portam. Qui miserunt eum in odio transibunt portam, Qui miserunt eum…" She kept mumbling it.
I stared at her for who knows how long. Before I knew it, I was staring into her eyes. "KYAAA" I yelled. Her eyes.. They had tears of blood. I couldn't help but look though. All of a sudden, I felt like I couldn't move. Frozen with fear. Her eyes, they make you think shes looking into your soul. Quite scary.
All of a sudden, she attacked me! Her fingernails were digging into my flesh, leaving scratch marks everywhere. She just kept digging at me! With her Freddy Krueger claws! I finally jumped out of there and back into the real world.
I woke up with a jump. Luckily, I wasn't screaming. But, the marks did stay, and I was bleeding. Really badly. Craaaaaaaap! I grabbed my bag of stuff and I ran out of the tent before the girls could wake up. I went into a bush and hid, while bandaging myself. Then, I proceeded to put on a green turtleneck and black skinny jeans. Well that looks publicly acceptable. Except for the fact that it was summer. Ohhh welll.
I went and made breakfast for everyone, and I made some tea too. I waited for a half an hour before everyone woke up, with Naru being first. He walked into the base tent half asleep, not even realizing I was there. As he sat down, I snuck behind him.
I used my awesome new PK powers and made his water bottle float to him without him noticing. Then, after he noticed it was there, I proceeded to sneak up behind him, and when he went to take a sip,
"JUMPER CABLES!" I yelled as I pushed my fingers into his sides, causing him to jump and spit water all over the floor and me. "HAHAHAHAHA OMAIGOSHICANTBREATH HAHAHA!" I kept laughing until his look became so deadly it reminded me of my dream. I instantly stopped and returned the glare, causing him to look away.
Everyone ran into the tent, with looks of worry on their face. What they saw could have made anyone's day. I smiled, and told them breakfast is ready. They all ran and I heard monk and Yasu yelling "FOOOOOD!"
After a delicious breakfast, we went and did the same thing we did yesterday, including the nap on my behalf. Thankfully, it was a dreamless nap. Its not like I needed the dreams though. I already knew how to solve the case, and just wanted to see if Naru had gotten any dumber. That's not the real reason, but just thought I should make sure.
They all finished up what they where doing, not having any luck. "Uhhhhhhhhg, okay, lets go look down by the little river for clues, okay? Okay." I said as I started walking. "Mai, theres no river around here." Yasu said. I scoffed. 'Oh really? Follow me." I lead them into the forest and guess who was right? We were all walking around, me with Yasu, Masako with Naru (She just had to insist on clinging to his arm?!), and Monk with Ayako.
My group and Monks group stuck together, cause they just had to gossip about Masako. This ended up with Monk and Ayako yelling at each other. "Monk, Ayako, calm down! There's nothing to worry about!" "Yeah, listen to Mai ya old hag!" Ayako never takes that well. She went to hit Monk with a purse, but when he went to dodge it, he knocked me into the creek face first.
"MAI!" They all yelled. I got up and said. "Guys, I'm right here, no need to yell." I looked down; I was soaked. All of a sudden, blood began seeping threw the bandages and into my shirt. "Mai, are you bleeding?" "I don't really know, I probably soaked threw my bandages a while ago though." I said to much. I began to walk away but Monk picked me up. I almost yelp with pain, but a sudden sleepiness began to take over.
I heard Ayako and the others yelling to keep my awake, but it was really hard. "Guys, just let me sleep, I feel like Genes calling me.." I said, not even realizing Naru had run over. I was set down and that's the last thing I felt.
