Hi! Sorry I haven't really updated... It's just been a very crappy and emotional, what, 20-ish months? There was a lot going on in my personal life and I was having a bit of trouble working on this while that was happening. Honestly it was kind of a miracle that Chapter 7 came out when it did... Well, I'm pretty sure you guys are curious as to what's gonna happen next, so I'll let you guys get to that. Have fun~~!(Also, yes, I did change my username. Mostly because I felt bad for using Amyra's name for this long...)
"Yeah. I promised Karma that I would hang out with him today…" I muttered, scratching the back of my head. I watched as Karasuma-sensei gave me a look that said something along the lines of "What?" or "I don't get paid enough for this….", which it was; I kind of didn't want to know. Before he could actually say anything, Koro-sensei appeared and announced that class would be starting in a few minutes. I quickly bowed to Karasuma-sensei and made my way back to my seat.
~Later~
Apparently, it IS possible to be more done with the teacher you thought you were done with like, a week ago. And by "done with", I mean resigned to the point of quitting this job and going back to Fiore. But I have a feeling that Koro-sensei would hunt me down if I did that, so I guess I won't be doing that. Yet. But after that very….. eventful study session that I apparently didn't really need, I find out that the principal had visited and aggravated the octopus to the point of making multiple clones instead of just one per student. Which, in the end, was just plain exhausting for him, but fairly amusing for us. While the rest of the class was staring at the teacher, I trotted up to the exhausted blob of slime and began to poke it.
"Hey….. are you still alive?" I asked in an almost childlike voice, the smirk most definitely evident on my face. When he didn't respond, Okajima asked something else.
"Why are you trying so hard anyway?"
"All to get your scores up! If that happens…." he trailed off, as if he were going into some kind of fantasy. Having a feeling that I wouldn't like what he was thinking about, I backed up a little. At almost that exact moment, his face turned pink. Then he started muttering something about college girls and not being killed? What?
"Well, even if we didn't do well on our tests we would still be completely fine." I heard one of my classmates say. I paused.
"Yeah, we are the E as in End class anyway. We probably have a better chance at killing you than doing well on the test."
I turned and stared at my classmates.
"Are you really okay with that?" I asked, folding my hands together and looking at the ground.
"Huh? What do you mean?" I heard someone ask.
"Are you okay with being nothing? With being pushed around just because your grades aren't as good as someone else's? The fact that you can keep even a low grade in an elite school is amazing, so why is it suddenly a bad thing if you're smarter than the average person?" I asked, my eyes starting to sting.
"There's nothing wrong with not knowing everything, that's why we learn. But this entire school system is not showing that in the slightest." I finished quietly. I heard a rustle behind me.
"Now I see how it is. As you all are now, you are not qualified to be assassins. Including you, Amyra-san." I barely processed his words as he placed a tentacle on my head.
"Please go to the schoolyard. Call Karasuma-sensei and Irina-sensei as well." Koro-sensei said, his face oddly unreadable as he left the classroom. I took a few deep breaths to calm myself and and followed my classmates to the field behind the building as Koro-sensei began his lecture.
"Amyra-san, I have a question for you." I frowned.
"...What?" I asked, shifting slightly.
"When you attacked me when you first came here, did you think that your attack would hit?"
"...No."
"Why is that?"
"Because I was just checking your capabilities to dodge a sudden attack."
Though I had to admit- That plan wasn't even thought out at all. I think hanging out in Fairy Tail has given me an extremely bad habit of attack first, think later... why do I feel like everyone is staring at me?
"Irina-sensei, in your job as a professional assassin, do you have only one plan prepared?" Koro-sensei asked, shifting his gaze slightly.
"No. As you'd expect rather than one preferred plan, it's better to have a few possible routes. For assassins, it's part of the basics; to construct thorough backup plans in case unforeseen circumstances arise." I suppress a smile, thinking about all the times my guildmates- especially Natsu- just went straight into life threatening situations with literally no plan for if things went south.
"Well," She continued, "Your case is so far from the norm that he plans I had prepared were all thrown into disarray, but just watch. Next time I will succee-"
"-That's impossible. Now then, Karasuma-sensei, when you teach the students knife-work, is the first blow the only crucial one?" Karasuma-sensei paused.
"Of course the first blow is the most crucial, but the movement afterwards is just as important. Against a formidable opponent, there is a high probability of your first blow being dodged. The precision of your second and third strike can mean the difference between victory and defeat." As soon as he had finished, the octopus began to spin, but stopped as a ball of fire suddenly flew past his head. I sighed and immediately made my way toward Karasuma-sensei, knowing full well what was coming next.
"Karasuma-sensei... the... 'issue' has arrived." I said, with a blank expression. As if on cue, a certain pink haired mage appeared screaming,
"FOOD!"
Welp, That was fun. Hopefully I can start updating a little more often now, but that's up kind of up in the air at this point. See you guys next chapter!
