Chapter 9 The Bloody Meeting
The Seiren team and Rocky were walking down the hall to their respective locker room before the opening ceremony. Kuroko felt her pocket vibrate. She pulled out her phone and saw there was a text from a certain red head.
"Pardon me, Coach, but may I be excused?" Kuroko suddenly asked Riko. Riko ticked and started to stretch the teal headed girl's cheeks, a creepy aura radiating off her.
"Didn't I tell you not to wander off?" Riko asked with a sticky sweet smile. By now everyone on the team was staring at the two girls, sweating nervously.
"I'm not wandering off. I've been summoned." Kuroko calmly replied while maintaining her poker face.
"By who?" Hyuga inquired, voicing the question that had popped into the whole team's minds.
"It's from my former captain, Akashi-kun." She answered calmly again, but if you knew her well, you could see the past in her dull, teal eyes. Riko saw this and sighed.
"Fine. Furihata, go with her." Riko ordered. Furihata was about to argue back when Rocky spoke up.
"Wait, Coach Riko, let e go instead with her." Rocky firmly suggested. This surprised everyone. They knew Rocky grew cold every time someone brought the name 'Akashi' up. So hearing her volunteer to go and see, more or less, her cousin was unfathomable, but here she was, volunteering to go and see the devil himself.
"May I ask why, Rocky?" Kiyoshi asked. Rocky and Kiyoshi had grown very close over the short period of time they had known each other. She had also gotten close Mitobe of all people, too.
"Two reasons," she held up two fingers. "Akashi isn't so friendly with outsider. Knowing him, I'm betting it is a group text saying Miracles only, correct? Also, there's this huge family event coming up. I need to speak to him about it eventually. Why not get it out of the way now?"
Riko thought about it for a moment. Risk the mental and/or physical health of one her players or send Rocky with Kuroko, someone who has first hand experience with the demon. 'Sorry, Rocky,' thought Riko. "Well, okay then. Go. But if you two are late, I'm going to skin you alive." Riko threatened as the female duo left and the rest of Seiren left for the locker rooms.
(Walking, walking, walking to our doom, I mean, to our meeting place!)
Kise was playing with his phone. Murasakibara was trying to open a stubborn bag of chips and failing. Midorima was gripping on to a red pair of scissors. Aomine just lazed on the steps to the stadium.
But before the Seiren girls reached this destination, Rocky said something that hurt and yet relieved Kuroko.
"I know you blame yourself for what happened between Sei-kun and I, but it was going to happen sooner or later, with or with out you. It was only a matter of time. Don't beat your self up over what is destined, okay?"
When they reached the group of bays, Rocky leaned against the bushy ledge that Kuroko had just turned, just out of sight of the other Miracles.
"Oi, Mido-chin, can I barrow your scissors?" Murasakibara asked the green haired teen.
"No, this is my lucky item for the day." Midorima shot the purple haired teen down. Just then Aomine spotted Kuroko.
"Oi, Tomo, what took you so long? these idiots won't shut up!" Aomine complained. This caught the attention of the other Miracles, mainly Kise's.
"Kuroko-cchi!" Kise ran up to said teal head to give her a giant bear hug.
Bonk! "Dumbass! Leave her be!" Rocky scowled the blonde model. Kise stepped away from Kuroko and rubbed his now sore head. "Go die in a corner!"
"Wah-ssu~! Why is Rocky-cchi so mean to me?" Kise cried momentarily until it hit him, metaphorically this time. "Rocky-cchi?"
"In the colorless flesh and bones." The albino replied with the smartass remark.
"Sorry I'm late, everyone. I had to convince Riko-chan to let me come." Kuroko explained. "Thankfully Rocky-chan volunteered to come or else I would have not been able to come." (AN: No dirty thoughts people. Keep it clean, perverts.)
"Yo." Rocky made a peace sign with her fingers. "Long time, no see. More or less." She then walked over to Murasakibara and took his bag of chips away from him.
"My chips." The childish giant whined, reaching out to get his bag back. Rocky pulled away just in time to have her chest just barely grazed by his fingertips. She didn't yell at for it because she knew he meant nothing by it and it was her fault ultimately.
"Ah, ah, ah." Rocky reprimanded him. "You're scaring the chips. You need to be calm and gentle when opening a bag." Rocky demonstrated for Murasakibara and then handing the bag back to him. "Here you go. Can I get a hug now, Mura-kun?"
"Thank you, Rocky-chin." Murasakibara took his bag back. He then lifted her up with one arm off the ground and squeezed her, giving her a big bear hug he knew she love to get from him. Unbeknownst to the group, but while all of this transpired, the devil himself finally came to speak.
"Sorry, everyone for being late." Akashi apologized, announcing his arrival at the same time. Everyone stopped what they were doing and turned towards the red head. "Rocky, what a pleasure it is to see you here."
"Can't say the feeling is mutual." Rocky bluntly replied, actin as if her cousin wasn't worth the time of day.
"I suspect you are here to discuss the the upcoming Red Ball?" He asked her with the same tone of voice as Rocky had just used on him.
"Got no other reason to talk to you..." Rocky snidely answered to her cousin. She cleaned her ear as she said that, not caring what the others thought. "... Akashi(1)."
said person's yellow eye momentarily returned to its natural fiery red, but it quickly and ultimately return to the poisonous yellow. Akashi growled at the insubordination of his American cousin.
"Silence!" the red haired teen snapped at the albino with great fierceness. Rocky stood seemingly unfazed while everyone, including the normally emotion less Murasakibara and Kuroko, to jump with fear.
Rocky quietly growled back. Then she, too, snapped back. "Never!" Rocky was as loud as her Japanese cousin, but her voice was more study and unwavering versus Akashi's forceful, sharp voice. It was like a war fought with voices instead of swords and shields.
There was silence between them for a few seconds until a certain broke it.
"Family aside, why are we here, Akashi?" Aomine impatiently asked. He, like everyone else here, needed to return to his team soon.
"Sorry for the inconvenience, but is it wrong to want to see my old friends?" Akashi turned to the blue head with a smirk that left no room for argument. Said devil then turned to Midorima. "Shintarō, let me barrow your scissors."
"Oh, yes," he complied. Midorima handed his lucky item to he red head. "May I ask why?"
"My hair has been bothering me lately. I've been thinking of cutting it for a while now." Snip!
Rocky heard the closing of the cold scissors and cringed. She had always loved Akashi's soft hair growing up. The albino knew that Akashi was living about his hair being in the way. He has had that haircut for as she could remember. He was doing it to piss her off. Well mission accomplished. Akashi said some other things, but Rocky had numbed his words out. She snapped back when she heard Akashi start talking to Kuroko.
"Hello, Tomoko. Have you missed me?" Akashi cupped Kuroko's left cheek. Kuroko maintained her blank face, but she was panicking on the inside. Akashi sensed this and smirked. "Seems you have."
"Leave her alone." Said Rocky. Akashi turned to her, head hung low. With the head distracted, Aomine quickly pull the teal head away. Amazingly, he was the one to sense the rising danger first.
"Who are you..." Akashi spoke darkly. After a second of silence, he lifted his head and had the look on his face was the stuff of night mares. "... TO TELL ME WHAT TO DO?!"
And with that he charged at her with Midorima's scissors. No one attempted to save Rocky for they were too shocked that their former captain even attacked his cousin. They also knew deep down that she could protected.
Rocky barely dodged the attack. Barely. She grabbed his arm as he flew by and then turned him around, tucking his arm painfully behind his back.
"Oh, how the mighty as fallen, and he doesn't even know it yet. Oh, and happy birthday." Rocky whispered in his ear quietly enough that only he could hear it, and no one else. Rocky let him go, not bothering to relieve Akashi of the scissors
"I see the family reunion went well." Said a new, but familiar voice. Everyone turned to look at the owner of the voice.
Rocky gasped. "Tiger! Where the hell have you been?"
"With Alex." Kagami replied with a smirk. Though she couldn't see it, Rocky felt it and smirked back. "What's going on here?"
Akashi, in another short bout of rage at the interrupting fool, lunged at the other red head. (AN: I recognize Kagami with blood red and Akashi with a rosy red.) Kagami barely dodged it like Rocky had but, unlike her, he got scratched.
"Wheat the hell!" Kagami snapped.
"You dodged it. You will be interesting to watch." Akashi turned around and walked away from him. He stopped in front of Rocky. "It was nice to finally meet the famous 'Tiger'. Here is your invitation. Have someone read it to you if you like, but you know the drill. Also, there is money in there from Father. He wants you to buy yourself a new dress." And he continued on walking, taking with him Midorima's lucky item.
They stood like that, until Midorima realized that Akashi had his lucky item.
"W-Wait, Aka-" Midorima stammered.
"Let it go. You will win your first match without it." Aomine told Midorima.
"It is against each other that we will fall." Rocky wisely stated. Eyes fell upon her and stayed there until Rocky's discomfort and agitation grew to be too much. "You all want to be skinned alive? I suggest you get your asses in gear and return to your teams! NOW!" Rocky grabbed her team players with eerie accuracy and dragged them away. As she walked away, Rocky called out to Aomine. "Oi, Ahomine, tell Momoi-kun to give me a call later."
The four colorful males left behind stood there for a moment and were about to disburse, when Murasakibara asked an interesting questoin. "Nah... Midochin, what's the "Red Ball"?
"I'm not actually sure. Akashi mentioned it once to me in our second year at Teiko. He only mentoined it, I suspect, to tell me why we couldn't meet up." Midorima answered the giant teenage. He pushed his glass up and pull out a second of scissors.
"Oh! Oh! Oh! I know what it is!" Kise excitedly blurted out as he bounded up and down like the idiot he was.
"And what is it?" asked Aomine.
"It's this really elite gathering for the rich or famous people. And even though it is an important gathering, it is also a very secretive one, too. That's why you've never heard of it in the papers. The Akashis hold it every year around this time. While Akashicchi's father always says there is no business allowed, there is always some sort do underlining business in the ball. This year, I heard a rumor that this year, he is will be. Trying to marry Rocky off." Kise grew dark for a moment. "But to be honest, I actually think it is Akashicchi that wants her engaged instead of Akashicchi-sama. Akashicchi's-sama(2), when I met him, adored Rockycchi as if she was his own flesh and blood. It would explain a lot more if it was Akashicchi." Everyone was shocked to hear all of this. First, there was a secret elite ball that there former captain's family held every year. Next, Kise knew about it and kept quiet about it. (AN: That was a shock in its self. A quiet Kise.) Lastly, the biggest shock was that Akashi, who they had known to love his cousin more than his known life, might have betrayed Rocky by doing the one thing he promised he would never do and marry her off. Kise was right, it would explain the fight that had just transpired not moments ago and much more.
They pushed their thoughts and questions on the matter to the back of their minds for later pondering. They did not need any more heavy emotions then they already carried. They said their good byes and dispersed to their teams' looker rooms.
'Let the games begin.' They all thought as they walked away.
Finally! *starts crying*
I'll up date again within two to three days of posting this.
(1) Rocky doesn't recognize the second Akashi as her beloved cousin and the name 'Sei-kun' is reserved only for the normal Akashi. She will call him 'Sei-kun' to anyone but him.
(2) I've made Akashi's father a lot like Kise but Father (I haven't given him a name and I don't plan on naming him. He is referred to as 'Uncle' or 'Father'.)is more likable and mature.
