They stared at me like I was an alien. The calm guy. Loki was watching me shocked. He always assumed I couldn't speak. I just didn't need to. I got my point across usually without speaking. I spoke to Miah, because I always spoke to Miah. Just nobody else.
"Your powers,"
"They are quite advanced." I looked at him, my eyes boring into his calm and questioning face.
"Were you born with them?"
"Were you born the hulk?" I asked him going for a bored tone.
He winced. "I had a fall-out with some powerful Gamma radiation."
"I was subjected to some powerful Gamma radiation."
"Is that how you became you?" I smiled but I didn't answer, knowing that if I continued to answer questions they'd keep asking them. Who I was is no matter to anyone but me. "Miss Enya, is this Gamma radiation how you became you?" He asked me again, they all stood waiting for some magical answer. I looked to Loki; who on earth were these idiots?
"My brother, Thor. Then the spandex man is Captain America, the first superhero of earth's time. The moronic idiot your technology is supposed to beat is Tony Stark. Owns a lot of moronic investments. He thinks he is a God. But he's just a human on earth. The red head is Natasha Romanoff, known as Black Widow. She is a bad person, even now she's changed things around. Her silent friend is Clint Barton, known as the Hawk or Hawkeye due to his accurate bow and arrow childish games. The small human that spoke to you is Dr Bruce Banner, a green monster known as the Hulk. He's supposed to be some sort of genius who gets attacked by Gamma. He's their pet. And the leader of this bunch of misfits is Nick Fury. The wannabe God." Loki answered my unspoken question. He had become good at reading my facial expressions, knowing what I was asking. I frowned at him, why were they here? Keeping us locked up? What did they want?
Then I had a terrible thought. What if they realised who I was? What I was here for? What if I had dragged Loki into this? But they hadn't known about me; they knew about Loki. They had gone for Loki. For the murder of his father? Or because of me?
I saw the flag stare at me. I stared back. When he looked away I stared at blue eyes. He didn't seem so conscious about our stares. He openly stared at me and I openly stared at him. He had such blue eyes. As blue as Loki's was green; when they changed. So bright and they were so mysterious. I didn't see anything in his eyes, no thoughts, or feelings or anything. He was a mystery; utterly and completely. I didn't like it. I didn't like not being able to read him.
"What did you want?" Loki asked them for me.
"How do you understand her without speech?" Thor asked.
I gave Loki a look and he smiled knowing exactly what I was thinking. He's an imbecile? Right? Did any of them see past their nose? "Yes, he's stupid. He got all the brawn while I have all the brains." Loki answered me as I looked at Thor. He did indeed have lots of brawn, but he had a weakness for humans. I flicked my eyes over the flag man, Captain America, again. He valued humans more so than the demi God. He struck me as the honest type. But he didn't like Loki. You could see that distrust and that watchful eye. "I understand her because I want to." He answered Thor. They all looked at me, trying to understand who I was.
"What do you know about Enya?" They asked Loki. I kept on staring at the guy they called Captain America again as it made him uncomfortable. Wasn't he dead? I thought he was dead. Years and years ago. It meant he was old. Like a fossil. He tried to ignore me and his body kept shuffling around as if that alone would stop me. It was amusing.
"I've told you, nothing. Surely the concept of me not knowing is not a far grasp from your understanding." He sneered at them.
"But you work with her, and she defends you. She has abilities."
"Observant aren't we?" I smiled at his sarcasm and then looked around the room again. I knew how to get out, now all I had to do was figure out an escape route. It seemed oddly familiar.
"Miss Enya," The Bruce Banner spoke my name softly. He seemed genuinely interested in me and my past, for some link he was trying to figure out. I wasn't interested in some hidden link he was trying to match up. Why would I be? I had more than Gamma radiation pressed upon my young body to ensure that I was different. "Could you please just answer some of my questions?" I shook my head and figured the best way out was down the corridor. "I am fascinated for many reasons." He expanded. I stared at him. Fascinated for many reasons. Many people didn't expand, afraid to let everything tumble from their mouths and their words hurt those they spoke to. But this Bruce Banner expanded, wanting me to see who of all he is. What did I say? Gamma is one thing I was subjected to? I was a lab experiment? Do I tell them I was born like every other human, and then from my birth I was tested, prodded, hurt, agonised over. I was tested and changed, injured and had parts remove. I had wiring to keep me in control. I was made to be dangerous. My name was forty-nine? I was one of fifty tests. And one to survive. I was forty-nine, the forty ninth experiment, but only one of my kind. What would I say to people? I have abilities but due to my lack of use they faded unless adrenaline dictated to me what to do? What do I say to those who have no idea?
"Maybe TT.25 would be best." Natasha suggested. "It'd help analyse what threat she is."
And there was my answer. Nothing. I say nothing. And that was why my speech was limited.
"You're going to use the experimental drug on a human?" The Bruce Banner seemed shocked. He didn't like that idea. I wasn't fond of it. I was sick to death of being prodded with drugs.
"She may not be human."
"We've ran the tests, she is human." Bruce argued with the Copper head woman.
"Computer, in containment field one inject subject with TT.25." The Wannabe demanded. I heard a hiss and something sharp jabbed my neck. My hand travelled and I felt something sharp in my skin. I pulled it out, fisting it in my hand. What was TT.25? What was it going to do? They waited, and waited. Nothing happened. Was it supposed to? They were waited for it to. What did I do? Let them know I was sturdy to most things? Or pretend otherwise? And yet, I needed them to leave me be. For five minutes. So I took one last look around and realised they were waiting for something now, so I collapsed. I pretended to collapse, my whole body dropping like a sack of food.
"Enya!" I heard Loki shout. "What did you do to her?"
"It's just a little truth serum. She'll awaken in ten minutes and then she'll tell us everything."
"Enya? Enya! Get up Enya!" A truth serum. They existed? Well, who would have thought? If stuff like this could exist, my technology had to surpass everything and clearly as long as it could be thought of, it could be made. So I'd make it. And I'd make sure no morons invaded my home, destroyed my workplace, and drugged me. "Enya?" Loki sounded lost. What did he have to be lost for? It wasn't like he was loyal to anything but his cause.
"Maybe we should move him away." Tony suggested. Loki's eyes were on me constantly.
"Computer, move containment field two to prison facility room number four." I heard the whirring of gears and then Loki's voice disappeared. "Be back within ten minutes." Nick ordered. They disappeared, their footsteps echoing after one another. Once they were out of sight I knew I probably had three minutes; so I got to work.
