"You actually took notes?" Inuyasha asked in disbelief. How he could manage to pay attention enough to actually take notes was a mystery to him. It took all his willpower just to stay awake for the entire length of the movie.

"It will prove to be useful when thinking of an activity for Rin and myself." Sesshomaru answered. Though perhaps the notes weren't necessary.

"A few dates, flowers, some cheesy words. Doesn't seem that hard." Inuyasha stood up to stretch. "Oh, and fancy dinners. Can't forget that."

"Indeed. I will attempt to take her out tonight."

Inuyasha was silent a moment. He knew what he would have to do now, so he should probably take Kagome out as well.

He smirked, knowing she'd love this date.

Rin locked the door of the shop and quickly glanced at the time on her phone.

She was running late because they had been more busy than usual today. On top of that she had stayed a little longer to clean up broken glass on the floor. A child had picked up one of the glass vases to see some flowers up close, but had accidentally dropped it.

Tightening her coat around herself, she checked the time once more before deciding to pick up something to eat for her grandma.

Surely her grandmother wouldn't be upset that she was late.

It was quiet as he walked. Almost too quiet. The only sound Sesshomaru heard at the moment was the sound of snow crunching under his shoes.

As he came to a stop in front of an apartment he glanced around and saw no one. Really he couldn't blame anyone for not wanting to walk around in the snow. If he had wanted to, he could have had the driver drop him off in this very spot; but remembering how uncomfortable it made Rin yesterday he had decided to be dropped off a block away and merely walked the rest of the way here.

It had seemed like a good plan, but now he wished he had stayed in the wonderfully warm vehicle. Rin wasn't even outside. He had hoped he could have caught her on her way to her apartment but perhaps he was too early? Too late?

He didn't know. He also couldn't just walk into the building. The entrance door was locked. Oh, sure he could break the door down and simply barge in there, but the noise might attract attention, something he didn't want at the moment.

He watched as the falling snowflakes piled on the ground, contemplating on what exactly he'd say. Really he wasn't sure how to go about asking Rin on a romantic date when he couldn't even find an opening to give her the gift he got her for Christmas. Perhaps making her fall in love with him was going to be harder than he thought.

Sesshomaru turned, ready to leave after standing out in the cold for so long. The cold weather didn't bother him nearly as much as it would a human, but even he could be bothered by it after standing in the cold for an hour as it continued to snow.

"Excuse me," came a faint voice.

He glanced at the apartment doorway and saw an elderly woman smiling warmly. He raised an eyebrow, wondering why on earth she thought it would be a good idea to come out and approach him.

He watched as she slowly stepped down one of the front steps before deciding to answer her. "What is it you want, woman?"

"I'm so sorry," she said as she gripped the railing tightly. "I just saw you from my window and wondered if you were waiting on someone? Could I perhaps be of assistance?"

"No." He said simply. "I was just leaving."

Her smile fell slightly. "I see, I hope I haven't disturbed you. Have a good day then."

Just as she was turning, Sesshomaru saw her left foot slip because of the icy steps. A startled cry left her as her body began to fall backwards toward the cold ground.

Using his demonic speed, Sesshomaru caught her before any part of her could hit the ground. He didn't know why he bothered to save her. Perhaps it was because he didn't want Rin to come home and find an elderly woman lying unconscious in the snow. Or perhaps it was because this old woman had come outside with the intentions to help him.

None of that mattered at the moment. Because as soon as he caught her, he also caught the faint scent of his Rin.

Bringing the woman closer to the front door so she wouldn't climb the steps and risk falling, he placed her down gently and ignored her repeated 'thank you's.

"Woman. Do you know Rin?"

He watched as she stared at him in surprise before she smiled warmly and nodded.

"Of course I do."

He raised an eyebrow, waiting for her to continue.

"She's my granddaughter".

Sesshomaru looked around the small apartment, his eyes lingering on any picture he saw of Rin. If asked he wouldn't be able to explain why he enjoyed seeing the way she grew from picture to picture, or why he had an urge to snatch a random photo just so he could have one in his room and see it everyday.

The old woman, whose name he learned was Sumie Sato had invited him inside, saying it was too cold to have a conversation outside.

He didn't mind really. Especially since he would probably be able to see Rin soon. Sumie had told him that Rin lived across from her.

At the moment, Sumie was in the middle of telling him how Rin used to command the snow to cancel school every day when she was younger. Sesshomaru found he enjoyed hearing about her past and liked the fact that he knew something not a lot of people knew about her.

Sumie laughed softly at the memory before speaking again. "I'm sorry, but what is your name again?"

"Sesshomaru." He answered, deciding not to mention that this was the third time she asked. It was strange, but he decided he would ask Rin about it later.

"Sesshomaru, you seem like a very nice man."

He resisted the urge to gape at the woman. When had anyone ever called him nice?

"Now, I must ask. What are your...intentions toward my granddaughter?" she asked, her eyes narrowing slightly.

"You think I mean to harm her?" he questioned. The very thought that he could ever hurt her in any way appalled him, though he didn't really know why. When had he ever cared about hurting someone?

"No," her eyes softened. "I have no reason to think you would wish to harm her. But she's my granddaughter and I would like to know."

She smiled softly at the prince. Yes, she had recognized him but had decided not to bring it up since he said nothing about it. It was true that she felt he meant Rin no harm, but that didn't stop her from wanting to make sure.

Oh, sure she had grown old. Her memory wasn't the best now and yes her eyesight was not as it used to be, but she was not blind. His ears seemed to perk up when she had began talking about Rin.

He wasn't talkative, that much was obvious. But there was more to him than his sharp golden eyes and obvious good looks. There was a softness there that she witnessed briefly. No, she definitely wasn't blind; and she hadn't missed the way his eyes softened and lingered on the photos of Rin.

Sumie wasn't certain, but something told her that he was having a hard time impressing Rin. Truthfully she wouldn't be surprised if that was the case. As far as she knew, Rin had never even had a boyfriend before. She was always so busy, and it didn't help that Rin also took care of her.

Sumie felt a twinge of guilt at the thought.

Another reason she wouldn't be too surprised was because the two seemed to be complete opposites. Although, she couldn't say that for certain since she hadn't even known the prince for long.

From what she could tell he was intimidating, quiet, and hid his feelings almost expertly.

Rin was easily approachable, loved to talk, and wore her emotions on her sleeve.

He was a prince.

She was a florist.

Yes, maybe he really wasn't getting anywhere with Rin. Perhaps he could use some help?

"I wish to court her." He answered truthfully and watched as Sumie's eyes widened and seemed to sparkle at the thought.

The sound of the apartment door opening caused both demon and woman to turn their attention to the young woman walking in, a bag of food in her hand.

"Hey grandma, sorry I'm late I had to-" Rin stopped mid-sentence as her eyes landed on the silver haired demon. Confused, she looked around the apartment quickly, making sure she was in the right place.

"Hello Rin," Sumie said happily. "How was work?"

"It was..good," she said slowly, not taking her eyes off the demon.

He smirked, and the action caused her thoughts to form properly.

"What...what are you doing here?" she asked, pointing a finger at the prince.

"Hello Rin." Sesshomaru answered, the smirk never leaving his face. "You will accompany me to dinner today. Go change. I will wait here for you."

Rin, still confused as to why or how the prince ended up in her grandmothers apartment, could only stare at him as if he were the craziest man she had ever met.

" I would suggest a dress," he added when he noticed she hadn't moved.

She glared at him. "What makes you think I'd actually go with you?"

'Oh yes' Sumie thought in amusement. 'He definitely could use some help'

"Rin," Sumie said sternly.

Both Rin and Sesshomaru turned their heads to look at the elderly woman.

"This man saved me from falling down the steps outside. I would very much appreciate it if you accepted his invitation as a thank you," she said.

In that moment Sesshomaru decided he liked the old woman.

Rin shifted her gaze and stared disbelievingly at the prince. "You did?"

He merely nodded.

She sighed and closed her eyes for a moment. Maybe having dinner out wouldn't be so bad. After all, she was grateful that he helped her grandmother. She could call Kaede and see if maybe she would come and keep her grandma company.

"Fine, I'll go out to dinner with you."
