CHAPTER 9
"Around two hundred people are looking for you. Aren't you a popular girl?"…
…"You need to be punished for what you have done."…
…"It's time you learn your place and start respecting rules. I'm going to do something and I want you to remember this moment every time a thought of escaping comes to mind."…
…"That's exactly how it is around here, you know. The more you fight, the more pain you'll feel. Just relax and go along with it. Spare yourself the pain."…
Sounds of doors banging echoed, clinking of metal against metal was never ending, a loud smash boomed out from the bed in which she was chained faced down on.
Where am I?
Not Heaven.
Hell? Still?
She could feel a dark silhouette emerging towards her. So eerie. So dangerous.
There he was, hovering over her from behind like a predator, pinning her down with his bitter physique. Her body was not his to possess, but he claimed it to be his very own object anyway.
Where was the all-conquering, all-positive girl who'd fought with high spirits to be reunited with the outside world? It was more likely she had overplayed her hand of cards, protested one too many. Now she was paying profoundly for her retaliation.
She bit hard on the white bed sheet, clenching at the soft fabric in between her teeth as she felt him plowing her from behind. The sharp familiar pain boomed throughout her body again once she felt him sliding in and out of her anal. Just taking pleasure in her flesh, and she had no word in it at all, only surrendering to his madness. Every nerve in her body quivered in response to his cold thrusts. She heard him sighing, groaning, and panting. Felt the cold sweat of his body trickling down to her back. They felt like drips of acid.
"Tell me you want me. Tell me you want to fulfill me," His voice fumed with shadowy desire.
` She felt his cold hand snaking around to grab her neck, the grip tightened, leaving her almost breathless, choking her. Terror surged through her veins. Consumed by fear, words bolted from her. Restraining was the real entity that was straggling her. Not being able to fight back or scream for help for fear that it would only make the matter worst.
The hard thrusting continued, his length moving in and out of her. He released himself, pulsing and shooting forbidden seeds inside of her. He still seized control of her. The sliding and thrusting became slippery from his juice. All she could do was swarm like a helpless being.
She lifted her head while the savage raped her, eyed her wrist. Blood!
The red liquid oozed out of her wrist, drenched down to soak the white bed sheet. Soon she would be drowning in a pool of her own blood. Panic hit her like a lightening, but she couldn't move. She felt him bending down close to her ears. He whispered roguishly, "But, they'll never find you."
A bright white light beamed out suddenly, clouding her entire view of what was happening. Her heart knocked hard against her ribs. She felt the chains from her limbs being unraveled, freeing her to move. The room was still a mist by the luminous light, blinding her as she tried to adjust to the new surroundings.
She found herself sitting up, feeling around only to discover that she was no longer on the bed. Instead, her fingers hit a cold smooth surface. She began to feel around her for any objects or even a wall. Nothing.
She felt her wrist, no cuts, no feel of blood.
An indulgent sound of music from a violin played out, embracing her space with its comforting melody. She breathed a sigh of relief. There was something about this white empty space that soothed her. Not having Kaiba around was one less source of tension.
The light died down, but the room or whatever it was that she was in remained pure white, only now she was able to view her own hands without having to squint.
She gazed around and found a girl standing from a far. Her back was turned, and she remained still.
"Hello?" Serenity called out, surprised to find her being able to speak again. Her voice had trembled with cautious when she spoke.
The girl from a distance did not respond to Serenity, she continued to stay peaceful and motionless.
Serenity decided to approach the girl carefully, her bare footsteps created a slight tapping sound with each step of the way. The violin increased its tempo as if it were playing out her feelings.
The mystery girl had long auburn hair and wore a light pink summer dress. Serenity could hear her beautiful voice humming cheerfully as she moved closer towards her.
Standing only inches away from her, the girl spun around. Her dress moved gracefully as she did. To Serenity's astonishment, the girl looked exactly like her. It was surreal.
"Who are you?" Serenity asked.
The girl looked cheerful. Her eyes full of hope and joy the way Serenity's had before her world was turned upside down. Her skin glowed as she gave Serenity her most charming smile. "Do you remember me?" she asked Serenity.
"Barely," she spoke. Serenity had not seen herself like that in a while, and it had felt like an eternity since she last worn a smile. "Who are you? My conscious?"
"I'm the little ounce of fight you have left," she answered. "I'm the little hope inside of you," she said. A smile still embraced her appearance, and her aura seemed to be swelling with bliss. "It's not your time to die. Not yet."
"Why?"
"Because there are joyful adventures that are waiting for you outside of his hell. It's his hell, Serenity. Not yours. Once you escape, you'll be free from his inferno to find happiness in life. But, he'll always be a prisoner that's trapped inside his dark ways, suffocating in the fumes of the hell he has created for himself," The girl said.
"So, what now?" Serenity asked.
The girl moved closer, closing the gap that was in between them, "I'm going to send you back."
"Can I stay here awhile longer?" she pleaded.
The conscious ignored Serenity's plea, knowing that there was no point in postponing her destiny. She rested her hands on Serenity's shoulder gently and opened her mouth to speak slowly, "Brace yourself."
/
She gasped for air as if she had been thrown into an ocean during a deadly hurricane. Her eyes shot open, and she immediately realized that she had been yanked away from the white space. Still, the reality remained a chilling nightmare. It dawned on her that her suicidal attempt had failed.
A white bandage was wrapped tightly around her fragile wrist. Still lying on Kaiba's bed, she reached for it with one hand to feel it, trailing her fingers up to discover another bandage. That one was smaller, leading her to believe that someone had stuck an IV in her vein. Her eyes loomed around until they fell upon Kaiba who was clammed up in a chair by the bed. He looked pissed as hell and was in a blood boiling mood. The veins from his neck were visible.
He had just showered, dressed in nothing put a dark pair of lounging pants. His skin was damped, and drips of water trickled down from his brown hair onto his broad shoulders, sliding down his firm body.
"You continue to surprise me," he said, pressing his lips into a hard line.
"A doctor was here?" she asked wearily.
"A medical student who is interning at a hospital and has access to medical tools."
"You're not afraid that the student might rat you out and tell people I'm here?" she questioned tiredly
"Hardly, because I killed him after he treated you," he said, shifting in his chair slightly to watch her reaction.
"Oh, my gosh!" She sat up, glaring at him in disbelief.
A wicked grin spread across his face, one fueled by evil, "I didn't kill him. I paid him off. On the bright side, he's free from student loans and doesn't have to go about eating ramen noodles to keep his dormitory. Hell, with how much I paid him, he might as well quit med school and retire. He didn't enter medical school for the love of saving people; he entered it for the hopes of being rich one day. He was the perfect candidate for the job."
"You continue to torment me. How did you know of him?" she continued her questioning even though each word caused her to become weaker. She had lost too much blood. The area around her was still a haze, and her eyesight was not yet cleared.
"Does it matter?' he glowered at her.
Serenity couldn't believe that there was another human being out there who had agreed to conspire with him, leaving a poor girl to fend for herself against a vile man for the mere sake of money. How disturbing and demented.
"Why?" he chinned at her wrist, more amused than angry.
"Because it was the only way out. At least I thought it was," she sighed. "Why do you do this? Take joy in other people's pain and misery."
"Because I can!" He shouted arrogantly.
She looked at him, her eyes locking onto his piercing blue ones, but she no longer found them intimidating. "I'm no longer afraid of you," she said boldly.
"Oh?" his eyebrows creased.
"I was afraid because the only thing I had left was being able to breathe and live among this world physically. I was afraid that you were going to kill me, but I had found myself face to face with a near death experience, ready to perish. Yet, you didn't leave me to die. So what do I have to be afraid of?"
"Strong words, Serenity," he said. "But, it seems like you're only challenging me. Are you pushing me for a challenge? Do you want me to test your limits? Show you just how intimidating I can be?"
She smirked, "Kaiba, I don't have a limit for you to test. Not anymore."
He leaned in close to her with both of his palms resting on the bed, his face merely inches away from hers, "Revealing my true demons will only make the beginning of your nightmare here look like I've been nothing but a little teddy bear towards you."
"What happened to you? Something happened to you," she said, creasing her eyebrows and shaking her head.
"Why do you say that?" he asked curiously.
"No child is brought into this world evil. I have a feeling that someone had backed you into a corner to become this way. So wicked and vile. So deadly. Why?"
"You wouldn't understand," he whispered and stood up. "Come with me to my office. I have some files to be drafted. "
"And if I don't want to?" she asked with a trace of attitude in her voice.
He darted one of his hand to her bandaged wrist and pressed hard on it, causing a shriek of pain to escape her dry lips.
"No!" she protested, refusing to leave with him.
His other free hand snaked down south of her till he hit the hem of her panty. He proceeded in moving his hands underneath it, passing her pubic hair until his finger rested on her clitoris, "Refuse me again, and you might not die a virgin."
She gave in, brushed his hands away from her, and threw her legs off the bed to stand up.
He smirked, "Serenity, I think I've found your limit already. Something to use against you. Too easy."
She readjusted the sash on the blue satin robe that he had changed her into, or that medical student did, she was unsure. She ignored his cockiness, letting him usher her out of his bedroom and into the wide hallway.
He had a firm hold of her arm as they paced for his office, passing the red metal door.
A shrilling sound, as if someone was scratching at an old-schooled chalkboard, alerted her attention back to the metal door. She peeked over her shoulder and found the heavy door shaking violently, as if an entity was trying to escape from it. It spooked her out. Her scalp prickled. That was the first time something like that happened.
What is it that he's hiding or guarding?
"Keep walking," he commanded and continued to escort her.
She realized that she had been holding her breath and exhaled, "Kaiba, that door was shaking."
"No, it wasn't. You're hallucinating. You've lost too much blood," he said, but he didn't sound so convincing.
She was very certain that the door had rattled. No doubt about it. The grip he had around her arm became damped and slippery. Is he sweating or is the dampness from his shower?
She drew her eyes to his face, studying it. There was something different about his appearance. Fear. She knew that feeling and that look all too well, having to experience it the entire time here. She spotted it on his face. It was as clear as daylight.
He was protecting a secret, and by the look of the fear that coursed through his body, the dark secret that he had been guarding was about to get even darker.
