Adjusting to life.
Part 11: Lover's tiff
"No. Way." Dee dee spoke firmly. "There is no way I am leaving you with her."
In all honesty, Sapphire had seen the protest coming. Dee dee didn't trust Lady K at all and from what she had seen and heard, he had every reason to be protective and angered.
When Lady K had told them about she was planning to find a vent in Oggy' s house to live in (seeing how Olivia was moving into that house as well and she figured it would get lonely after a while) and had insisted on the idea of Sapphire living with her.
"C'mon, it'll be great." She told them when both she and Dee dee failed to reply to the proposition. "It means you two get a bit of space to yourselves so it's more exciting when you see each other again."
Sapphire saw that as both logical and illogical at the same time. She still had some concerns about staying with the brothers, with Joey's temper and marky's flirting. Plus, she naturally felt uncomfortable sharing a bed with the three brothers, with there not being much elbow room. Logically, it made sense to stay with another female of her own kind to ensure more personal room.
The illogical part came from the fact that she and Dee dee would still be more or less living under the same room. They would be able to see each other any time they wanted to. Of course this wasn't the major problem. That slot belonged to the fact that the female she'd be sharing a living space with would be Lady K. The female she wasn't exactly comfortable with, and in all honesty, a little afraid of Lady K
"Plus." Lady K continued, stepping closer, glancing down towards Sapphire. "Isn't it uncomfortable living with the three of them aaalll the time?" It was like she was reading her mind and Sapphire felt and uncomfortable twist in her gut, but she refused to flinch at the pain. "Wouldn't it be nicer to spend time with someone like me? Someone who's not quite so lound and bombastic?"
Dee dee's hand was still resting on her waist and she felt his fingers gently dig into the skin. It wasn't painful, but it let Sapphire know just how much Lady K's words were affecting Dee dee. That immediatly spiked anger in her.
"I've had no issues with it so far." She replied, trying to keep her tone flat. Lady K scoffed slightly.
"Yeah, 'so far'." She made air brackets with her fingers which was a gesture Sapphire had always viewed as being quite immature. "But don't you think it'll become a drag after a while? Not having any personal space from them."
Dee dee huffed, clearly aggitated. "Would you just leave already?" He had just about had enough of Lady K interrupting his and Sapphire's date and quite frankly, he wanted her gone.
Lady K frowned. Her eyes darted between Sapphire and Dee dee before scoffing and quirking an eyebrow. "Fine. Be that way." She huffed, waving a hand dismissivly, acting as though they had just passed off the chance of eternal life. Irritated and confused, confusion only riling up anger. As she saunted off, she paused on her third step away and turned her head slightly, eyeing them both quickly. "Just remember the offer will stay open for when you change your mind." With that, she climbed and scuttled down the house wall, dissapearing from Dee dee and Sapphire's sight, much to Dee dee's relief as he expresed through a sigh.
"Finally." He sighed, his grip softened around Sapphire's waist and he leaned against her. Sapphire smiled, equally relieved that Lady K had left. However, of course, her words still played about in her mind, and she began to question a few things.
It was ten minutes of silence later that Dee dee pulled away slightly and glanced at her, a hint of worry etched on his face. "What's up?" He had asked.
Sapphire looked at him, contemplating wheather or not to share her thoughts of Lady K's words. Yes, she trusted him, but at the same time was it really something to bring up?
She shook her head, smiling gently. "It's nothing." Dee dee was quite for a moment, watching her as if she were a jumbled up jigsaw puzzle. She glanced away and stared out into the garden, hoping she wasn't giving off any vibes that said other wise to her answer.
"Doesn't seem like it." Well, that answered that.
She breathed out through her nose, deciding that if this relationship was going to work she would have to be honest about how she felt, and so would Dee dee.
"I was thinking about Lady K's proposition." She began, out of the coner of her eye was saw Dee dee frown a little, and his hand on her waist tensed again.
"I think it would be beneficial for us and everyone if I stayed with her." Of course, that had ringed around to Dee dee pulling his hand away from her waist and genlty grasping her shoulder, gently and firmly turning her to face him.
"No. Way." He spoke firmly. "There is no way I'm leaving you with her."
Sapphire gave a small tut, lifting a hand up to rest on one of Dee Dee's.
"Dee dee, we won't be far apart and we both know there is not a lot of space in your bed with your brothers. Plus, there is a matter of personal space as well."
Dee dee' s frown had loosened, but he still looked uncertain. "I guess." His hands slipped off her shoulders and Sapphire quickly took his hands in his. She understood his worry completely, but as far as she was concerned, her points were valid and she hoped he would understand. "But I just-" He paused gently bitting his lip. "I don't want her to hurt you."
Sapphire nodded. That too was a valid reason. She stayed quiet, thinking over what would be good for them both.
"Tell you what." Dee dee spoke, after a few seconds of silence, his eyes averted to the floor for a second before he glanced up at her. "If you want, we can give it a try. But, please, if she tries anything come straight back to me. Okay?"
Sapphire smiled gently and nodded. "Okay, I think that would be a sensible idea."
Dee smiled, gently squeezing her hands in his. "Alright." He mumbled.
Both sat together looking out into the garden.
After a while, Sapphire spoke. "I find the sky has always fascinated me." Her voice was a murder but Dee dee heard.
"Oh?" He looked over towards her, wanting to hear more.
She nodded. "Yes.. When I was little, I remember watching the clouds and counting them. Then after tea I would watch the stars and the moon. I only appreciated them more when I was taught how they all work-"
Dee dee listened to her voice, his insides turned to jelly as she spoke. He honestly was n't too sure about everything she said, but he didn't think it really mattered. He only admired her more for how smart she was to him
