AN: Another short chapter to explore Luri and Aria future relationship to give you readers something to read before the next main chapter is ready for release. This time I want to highlight the fact that Aria might not be the kind of person that is easily change or the kindest person to be with. An experiment on how to make a realistic situation that would slowly push Aria to take interest in our poor ghost child.
Again, this may or may not be cannon for my story, if I feel that it doesn't fit with my story or you guys don't like it. It will be considered as a non-cannon chapter. But if it is the opposite, I will find a way to fit it right into my story cannon wise.
An OC-Self-Insert Fanfiction
Chapter 9: Even a simple gesture can hold more meaning that entire words in a book
X1313131313X
*Shift* small hands belonging to a young child move in various motion before it stops and awaits for the person in front to respond.
"Umm...its 'I need you to pay bills?..." the Asari said with a hint of uncertainty. The boy in front of her shakes his head and scribble downs on his book before showing it to the awaiting Asari with words written, "Sorry but no...its actually 'I need you to pay attention'. Come on Aria, you've seen this sign many times before, how can you get confuse between attention and bills is a mystery to me"
The now named Aria frowns and with great frustration said, "Dammit, again brat, I want to get this over with.."
The boy frowns a bit at the favorite nickname Aria always use to address him, but he just nodded and did another series of hand gesture before waiting for Aria to translate what he just signed, "Its 'You sick'?..." Aria tried to translate. Again, like multiple times before, Luri shakes his head in a no. "Well what is it then?...", Luri hesitant a bit before he scribble down, "You don't want to know"
Unknown to Aria, Luri had actually signed, "You Suck" it was a gamble taken by the young child and if Aria actually manage to translate it...well, lets just say Aria sign language lesson would had ended earlier for the day.
"Ugh, goddess dammit!" Aria groan loudly as she bangs her head onto the table they are using with numerous pads and old fashion paper, courtesy of Luri book, containing vital, for Aria, learning notes on sign language.
Luri played around with the pen still in his hand and sigh silently at the yet another slow progress on their sign language lesson the ghost boy is giving to Aria since the child is more 'fluent' in the language. The fact that they have the complexity of translating words into Aria language does not help at all. So far they manage to work out the problem of getting the perfect version of sign language that they both can learn with little difficulty.
The only problem...
Aria is apparently lazy when it comes to things that doesn't interest her, Luri had to pester her a lot before she even considered learning it, and add in to the fact she cant stay in her home everyday just to learn sign language because that would be to uncharacteristic of her. People would get suspicious and 'rumors' would spread across the known galaxy that Aria was getting lax. Not something she would want as that would promote troublesome idea into some lowlife, 'scumbag' as Aria put it, criminal or wanna be warlord that they could take on Aria and take her place as ruler of Omega.
The slow learning process is just agonizing for Aria but little does she knows that it is killing Luri that Aria hasn't shown any significant progress in their lesson. The young ghost just manage to master the sign language but the only person who can interact him cannot even grasp the basic of the basic to even hold short simple conversation with the boy. Each lesson puts doubt in Luri heart that Aria is even trying her god to honest best in learning as he would catch glances of Aria very bored and uninterested face.
For Aria it feels like forcing her brain to learn a language that would be practically useless unless she knows anybody that need sign language to communicate with her, and she only knows one person and that is the 'brat' as she like to call Luri and no mater what, the boy isn't that interesting enough for Aria to do all she can to learn.
For Luri, it feels like he can 'scream' all day long with nobody can understand him, and the only person who is capable to learn and understand what he is 'screaming' would continue to remain ignorant and rather leave the boy as a faint memory.
Its torture for Luri, waiting for Aria to learn just enough to even do simple sign like, 'good morning' 'how are you today', 'are you okay'...
A common gesture many people takes granted for, something Luri has been deprived for a long time.
Every single time, they would both sit down and start their lesson,
Every single time the child would hope and wish that Aria finally manages to grasp sign language,
Every single time his hope and wish would be crushed with no mercy,
Ever single time their lesson would end with no progress being made,
Every single time Luri would see Aria go off with a slightly cheerful expression,
Every single time Luri would feel that Aria doesn't care about him,
Every single time, Luri would steel himself and be patient with Aria,
But this is the first time Luri would just be...disappointed...
Luri clenches his fist with the pen still in his hand till the pen could be seen to be bending and straining so much that it is threatening to break in half. Luri looks up to the obviously bored Aria with her head still laying in its small territory on the table. In a flash, Luri writes down on the book and the instant he finish, the ghost boy slams the book down next to Aria resting head not so gently to gain her attention.
Aria react to the sudden shock by straitening up in surprise and blinks a couple of time before noticing the book that startled her and the boy with the blank face who did it. Her face turns into a scowl and yelled without thinking, "What the hell brat?! Cant I get a decent rest once a while? This whole thing you force me to do is just making my head hurt."
Luri, for the first time since meeting Aria, ignores her angry yell without a care for her wrath and just proceed to tap impatiently on the book for her to read what he written.
Aria notice the book and read the hastily written words saying, "No lazying around, lets continue on with the lesson"
After she read it, Aria just roll her eyes, a habit she got from the many humans she met, and groan out a, "Ugh, cant we just end today's lesson? I mean it is obvious that I'm not really doing well for the day so lets just end it for now brat.."
Luri single eye twitches and his hands clenches in anger at Aria on how so nonchalant she is with all the hard work he put in to teach her in the easiest method he can churn out to the best of his ability.
Luri grabs his book and swiftly write down, "No aria, we are lucky to even have a lesson once a week. Its bad enough that you don't show up most of the time, please Aria, don't waste a single second of our lesson. We may not know when is the next time you are available for our next lesson."
It is true that Aria occasionally skip on their lesson day, even though Aria clearly said that she was free for the day. The first few times Luri put up with it, but after that it became infuriating for Luri to make preparation and wait for Aria to start their lesson.
The first few times Luri waited for hours, he couldn't exactly go out of Aria home and look for her due to her strict and enforced rule of not leaving unless she gave permission. Aria doesn't stay at her home that often and most of the time she just crash in at her favorite club for the night. Luri, eager to start teaching Aria sign language, would just wait for hours on end at the work table, totally ignorant of Aria just at her favorite place relaxing.
He waited and waited, till he fell asleep and woke up the next day only to see that Aria still hasn't come home yet, leaving the child alone. It saddens Luri but he kept his spirit up and thought that Aria might have just accidentally forgotten about their lesson and just opt to ask Aria where she been when she comes back home.
But every time she does come home, the only 'excuse' she gave to Luri question for not attending their lesson is a variation of, "Oh, I didn't feel like learning brat" or "Go back to whatever you were doing brat, not here for the lesson, just came here to pick some stuff" or "Fuck off with the lesson brat, not really in the mood here!" or the worse one, "I don't fucking care about learning sign language today brat, its not like its the most important thing for me to do. So stop asking and I'll fucking go to your lesson whenever I feel like it you little fuck! Goddess you are the most annoying pathetic fucking teacher any one can ask for!"
The last one hurt Luri so bad that he lock himself and cried alone in his room for days before he muster up enough confidence to even go out off his room.
Its best to say that teaching Aria was not as simple as Luri thought...
Aria read what Luri recently written and said, "Brat, I have more important thing to do than this. I don't need your permission little shit." Aria went to stand up but Luri hastily write down on his book and gave it to her.
"Please Aria, just this once stay and maybe we will make some real progress now. The only reason you're really slow with learning sign language is because you don't even focus on my lesson most of the time. If you actually use that brain of yours and-" that all Aria read before she flung the book back to Luri, anger radiating from her.
"I don't need you to fucking lecture me brat! The only reason you got to be such a 'master' is because you got all the time in the world to yourself fucker. If I had the same amount of time you had to learn, I would have fucking mastered it before you even got to the basic you whiny little shit. Beside, it isn't even going to help you when I even manage to learn sign language. Nobody can see you little pathetic brat and you don't need anything to keep you alive so things like asking me for food is useless. It not like anybody even care if you were even alive-"
Her rant was cut short by Luri throwing the book with all his strength directly at Aria face, knocking her off her feet by sheer surprise at Luri audacity to be so defiant to her. The book lands on her and Aria manages to shake off her daze head and looks up to see a trembling and crying Luri with the mix expression of anger, disappointment and sadness...
Aria notices that the book on her have some new words written on it in large two bold highlighted word, "I KNOW!"
Shocked, Aria look back at Luri who is trying to keep his crying under control and failing miserably. Luri notices Aria staring at him and went on to glare her with all his anger directed at her. This made Aria even more surprise at the boy daring action.
Suddenly, Luri did a series of aggressive hand gesture that is slow enough for Aria to make out what it is before he ran off to his room.
Aria suck at sign language but for the first time she recognize and knows the meaning of those hand gesture, and the realization of those sign meaning hit her so bad that it is as if a dreadnought itself slams into her.
'I WANT YOU TOO CARE!'
Even Aria cold and harden heart realize she just made a really big mistake, and for the first time for a long time. She felt guilty, she never realize that the ghost child would crave for attention and care. Actually it is HER attention and care he wants all this time.
Old maternal instinct long since buried began to surface and this time she made no effort to push it back at the sheer horror at what she had done to the poor child. Aria felt her heart wrench at the thought of Luri being alone most of the time and practically jump at any chance to see her again to accompany him in his lonely existence. She could be literally the only thing that is keeping him sane for all this time ever since Aria met him...
Aria glances at the direction where the ghost boy had fled and sigh before grabbing the poor ghost book, standing up and walk towards the child room. She mentally prayed for the first time in centuries to her goddess that it isn't to late to apologize and amend the wounds she created.
This isn't a fitting thing to do for the ruler of Omega
But right now...
Aria doesn't fucking care...

Finally, I apologize if there is any grammar or spelling mistakes. Also, re-reading the old chapter, I notice that I like to make my OC life a living hell, should I tone it down a bit or should I just stick with it?
