I'm back ladies and gentlemen. Sorry for the long wait I had to finish up some school work and writing up other chapters as well. I'm back now and the story will continue where we left off. Derek's sister Iris is here and I'll be making some changes to why she is looking for him. So I hope everyone likes this version, better than the last version.

I want to thank my friend for his help on looking over the chapter. I appreciate it and now we can continue with the story. I don't own anything of Pokemon just my OC. Also for those who don't know: the Italic will represent the Pokemon talking and Bold is for thoughts. Got it? Good, time for the chapter begin.

Forgiveness

Eterna Forest (Rachel's pov)

We couldn't believe it. Derek has a sister and he didn't tell us about her. We're on the ground while Iris tells us about her and her brother. She explained they're not blood related siblings, which was kind of obvious. She tells us that she was found when she was a baby and was adopted by Derek's parents when he was little.

The two became siblings and the two are from the Unova region. We knew Derek was from there, but he never told us he is from a village that is filled with Dragon-type Pokemon. Iris explained that the two of them would help out with the Pokemon and would go into the forests to have fun. Swinging around the vines and making friends with the Pokemon that lived there.

Iris told us how Derek looked out for her whenever any kid tries to pick on her. He taught her a lot about different types of Dragon Pokemon and how to handle them.

"It sounds like Derek is a great big brother," said Dawn who was happy for Iris to have a brother like Derek.

"He was always there for me when I needed it. Whenever it got cold in our village he would always give me some extra blankets to make sure I stay warm."

Awwww, how sweet what a nice big brother you have.

Ryan explained to Iris that I can communicate with him and the others with my powers. So that when I do speak using telepathy she won't freak out or be surprised.

"So, why are you looking for him? What did he do to make you mad and come all the way here?" Ryan asked.

Iris's expression changed as she lets out a soft sigh. "I'm not mad. I was send here because the village elder told me to find my brother."

"Why?" Dawn asked.

Iris explains everything. "In my village whenever we reach the age in which we're old enough to begin our journey, we are given a gift. The village elder gives the oldest a Dragon egg to raise and use on our journey. My brother was going to be given the egg when…"

"What happened next?" Ryan asked.

"A young man tried to take the egg from him," said Iris as she looks up into the sky. "He came to our village looking for strong Dragon-type Pokemon. He then saw the egg and wanted it. The villagers told him to leave, but he unleashed his Pokemon, and threatened to burn the village down if he is not given the egg."

Do you know who it was? I asked wondering who would do such a horrible thing.

Iris shook her head. "No one did, but my brother refused to hand over the egg. So the guy ordered his Pokemon to attack my brother, but then someone came to save him."

Iris stopped for a moment and a small smile appeared on her face.

"It was a gym leader named Drayden and he used his Pokemon to take down the guy's Pokemon. He sends him out of the village and warned him never to come back."

"Wow, I heard of Drayden before from my mom," said Ryan. "He's supposed to be the strongest Dragon trainer in the world, stronger than Clair and Lance."

Iris nods again. "Yeah, he was so strong and he gave my brother the Dragon egg for safe keeping."

I turn to Dawn who looks confused. "Wait, you haven't explained why you're looking for your brother?"

Iris's expression changed again and continues explaining.

"The guy came back and attacked the village when Drayden left. I hid during the fighting and when I came out our village was in ruins."

Did the guy take Derek's egg? I asked.

"No," said Iris. "We found out he actually stole a scroll from the elder's home. Whatever was in it was important enough for the elder to ask Derek to go look for it and bring it back."

"You mean they send him to go retrieve it?" Dawn asked surprised. "And did he agree to find it?"

"Yes," said Iris with a small smile. "It took him a year but he was able to find it, burned."

"So the guy burned it then," said Ryan who looked disappointed. "I guess he never found the guy who did it huh?"

"No," said Iris again. "But he did say he was close to finding this guy and that he'll bring him in."

"So, that's why you're here?" Dawn asked. "You're here to help your brother find the guy?"

Iris shook her head.

"No, I'm here to bring him back because Drayden thinks Derek gave up on searching for the guy after seeing him on TV competing in the Johto league."

Oooooh, so he thought Derek was goofing off? I asked sensing some hint of anger from Iris.

"Well, isn't he?" Iris asked upset at her brother. "I mean, we're at home repairing our destroyed homes and he's off here traveling the world without a care in the world. That's why I'm here, to bring him home."

"Hold on," said Ryan as he gets up. "I have known Derek for three years and I know he wouldn't do something like this."

Ryan, he did lie to us about his past.

"It doesn't matter," said Ryan bluntly. "He has helped us out many times when we needed it and when we went up against evil trainers. If it wasn't for him Rachel we wouldn't have made it this far."

Dawn nods. "Yeah, he helped me out too during our training and when we went up against those trainers. That proves he's not selfish, he's a good guy."

I smile and nod in agreement. Their right, Iris we don't know what happened with his search. If we ask him though I'm sure he'll be willing to tell us the truth.

Iris looked away from us for a moment before she faces us.

"I hope your right. So, where is he?"

Dawn turns towards Ryan and he turns towards me. We don't know, but we assume he'll be at Jubilife city.

Iris lets out a loud groan. "I just came from there. It's a huge city, how will we find him?"

Dawn gets up and kneels down besides her.

"Don't worry we'll find him. With all of us together we'll find your brother."

Iris smiles at who Dawn nods.

"Thanks…" Her face begins to turn red and responds embarrassingly. "Oh right I forgot to ask your names."

Dawn giggles. "My name is Dawn, from Twinleaf town."

Ryan grabs my hand as we walk towards the girls.

"My name is Ryan, from Littleroot in Hoenn," he then introduces me. "This is Rachel, my friend."

I blush a little and respond. I'm a Gardevoir and it's nice to meet you Iris.

Iris bows her head towards us with a smile.

"It's nice to meet you guys too and sorry for attacking you guys earlier."

"Its fine no need to worry," said Dawn as she helps Iris up. "Now, let's head back to the city and find Derek."

Team Galactic HQ (Normal pov)

Nova leaves the infirmary after healing her Pokemon and walks towards her room to get some rest of her own. She has been told that the next day she'll be going on a mission to one of the three lakes. The good thing about this mission is once again she'll get to lead her own team. The bad thing is it's the same stupid teammates she was given last time.

"Hello, little Nova."

Nova lets out a small growl and turns around. "Mars."

Behind her was one of the lieutenants of Team Galactic, Mars. The one person Nova hates the most in the world and the one she wants to surpass.

"What do you want?"

Maris chuckles as she approaches Nova.

"What's with the hostility?" Mars asked as she pets Nova on the head. "Awww don't tell me you're still upset about losing to those kids yesterday?"

Nova slaps Mars's hand away and responds angrily.

"Who told you about that?"

Mars lets out another chuckle and a smirk appears on her face.

"Don't worry about it. What you should be worried about is coming back from the mission tomorrow without losing a battle."

Nova tries to walk away, but Mars grabs her by the arm.

"Hey, don't you walk away when your superior is talking to you."

Nova shakes her arm free from Mars.

"You are not my superior and if you touch me again."

"You'll do what?" Mars walks up to Nova glaring at her. "You forget here I am your superior, I own you, and if I want to I can get the boss to demote you. Understand?"

Nova's fist tightens and glares at Mars. She wanted to hit her. Oh she really wanted to hit her so badly, but she knew that's what Mars wanted.

She wanted Nova to do it so she can own her. She calms down and her fist relaxed.

"I…understand."

Mars pets Nova's head and whispers into her ears.

"Good, see you later little sister."

Mars walks off while Nova is left steaming. Once she sees her sister is gone she talks, but quietly.

"My time will come sister…oh yes and when it does you will pay."

Jubilife City (Dawn's pov)

We made it to the city and began looking for Derek. We went to the Pokemon Center, but saw he wasn't there. So we split up. Ryan went with Rachel to the north side of the city, while I went with Iris to the west side of the city. We've looked everywhere, but can't seem to find Derek.

Wherever he's hiding he's doing a good job at it. I just hope we find him soon so we can settle this problem.

"You sure he went this way?" Iris asked.

"Yes, we just have to keep looking and hope we find him."

Iris lets out an annoyed sigh. "That's getting hard to do if we have searched everywhere."

I stopped for a moment and realize Iris is right. We have searched everywhere, but not everywhere.

"Derek once told me if you're looking for someone who doesn't want to be found, then find them in the place that you would least expect to find them."

Iris turns to me with a surprised look on her face.

"That's what he told me when we were little."

I nod my head. "Okay, Iris where would be the least obvious place Derek would hide out?"

Iris thought for a moment and then she smiles. "I know just the place."

(Normal pov)

Ryan and Rachel continue searching for their friend. They searched and searched, but couldn't find him. They took a break near a Pokemart and went to get some snacks.

"I can't believe it's so hard to find Derek in a city like this," said Ryan as he grabs a bottle of water from the cooler. "Usually he's easy to find, especially when he causes trouble."

Rachel nods in agreement as she grabs a bag of chips. Maybe that's him wanting to be caught, but when he doesn't want to get caught he can hide well.

Ryan thinks about that logic and agrees with Rachel.

"Well, let's hope the girls have already found him. Otherwise we'll have to continue looking."

Rachel can sense Ryan's tiredness and hugs him. Don't worry we'll find him. He'll have to turn up eventually.

Ryan knew Rachel was right. Derek was many things, but leaving his friends behind is not one of them. Plus, he knows Dawn would miss him so he would have to come back for her.

"All right, let's try asking some people. Maybe one of them saw him."

Rachel nods in agreement. It's worth a try.

(Dawn's pov)

We made it to the top of the highest building in Jubilife City and opened the door to the roof. We walked out and see Derek sitting on the ledge of the building looking down. I had Iris wait by the door, while I walk towards her brother. Once I got close enough I sat down next to him and look out into the city.

"I take it you guys met Iris?" said Derek without looking at me.

I nod and faced Derek. "Why didn't you tell us you had a sister?"

Derek lets out a small sigh and continued not facing me.

"Before my birthday my father sat me down and made me promise him something. Do you know what that was?"

I shook my head unsure what it was his dad wanted Derek to promise. Derek lets out another sigh and tells me.

"He told me never to change who I am. To never to turn my back on family, friends, and break my promises, otherwise my word will mean nothing."

"And have you?"

Derek nods slowly.

"When I came here looking for the guy who attacked our home I couldn't find any trace of him," Derek picks a piece of rock he had beside him and throws it into the city. "No name, home address, and not even anyone who knew the guy. Along the way I decided to get involved in some gym battles hoping to get some information on the guy."

"Is that when you gave up looking for him?" I asked getting him to face me and spoke in a serious tone.

"I never gave up looking for him."

I quickly apologized so he wouldn't be mad.

"I'm sorry I didn't mean it like that."

Derek calms down and looks away from me again.

"No, I'm sorry Dawn I shouldn't have snapped like that."

I place my hand on his and smiled.

"It's okay, please continue."

Derek faces me and I can see him smiling a little.

"Okay, well I needed to do something besides search for the guy so I joined the leagues and battled different kinds of trainers," he picks up another rock and throws it into the city. "It was at these battles when I found out who the guy was, but was unable to bring him in due to lack of evidence from the police…and because the guy wore a mask during his attack on our town."

"Oh, wait then how do you know who he is?" I asked.

"Because he told me what he did and that without any actual proof I can't bring him in."

Derek gets up and lets out a loud groan.

"I beat the guy in battle many times, but he keeps getting away before I can bring him back. That's why I haven't come home yet because I need to bring him with me to pay for what he did."

I got up and followed Derek.

"Why didn't you call your family back home?"

"I did," said Derek as he sits on the floor. "I told my mom, but by then she told me Drayden already was convinced that I was goofing off so he send Iris to come get me."

I sat down in front of him and moved my hands on top of his.

"Is that why you're avoiding her?"

Derek nods his head.

"I don't care what the villagers think of me, but if my own sister hates me…it would hurt," Derek holds my hands and looks sad. "Tell me, does she hate me?"

I smile at him and motion for him to turn around. He looks behind and sees Iris standing there.

"I'll leave you two alone."

(Normal pov)

Dawn leaves allowing Derek and Iris to speak alone.

"Iris, you look well."

Iris tries to smile. "T-thanks, you look good too."

It was Derek's turn to try smiling.

"Thanks," Derek hesitates for a minute before speaking again. "How did you guys know where I would be?"

Iris sits down in front of her brother and explains.

"Remember when I went to school in the city?"

Derek nods his head.

"Yeah, you felt different, you couldn't make any friends, and you felt lonely."

Iris finally smiles and takes her brother's hands.

"I climbed the highest tower in the city and stayed there so I could be alone. Then you came to find me and we sat up there for hours, even when the police told us to climb down."

Derek lets out a soft laughter.

"Oh yeah, she was soooo pissed at us for being up there. They had to get Drayden to get us down."

Iris lets out a small giggle as the two siblings laugh together. After a minute of laughter they quieted down.

"I guess you figured I would be up here too huh?"

Iris nods. "Yes, up here in the highest building to think and toss some rocks. Like back home."

Derek's smile was replaced with a sad one. "Is everyone mad at me? Even mom and dad?"

Iris shook her head. "Not them, they haven't given up on you and neither will I. I'm sorry for not trusting you brother."

Derek leans forward and kisses Iris on the forehead. "It's okay sis. Don worry about it. I forgive you sis."

(Dawn's pov)

I took a picture of Iris and Derek hugging. I then send the picture to Ryan so he can know we found him and things are okay with his sister.

I wiped away a tear from my eye enjoying the reunion between the two siblings.

"I'm happy for you Derek. I just hope you catch the guy so you can come home a hero."

Awwww the two siblings are back together and are going to get along again. Also yes in this story for those who don't know Mars from Team Galactic has a sister, who wants to kick her ass. Who wouldn't? Also hope you all like the little back story I had with Derek's past which is different from the original story. Still, I think this way is better than the last one.

Thank you to my friend who has helped me with the story and for looking over it. Thanks also to everyone who have left reviews and support this story. Please leave some reviews and let me know what you thought of the chapter. Nothing negative please or any flame reviews. All right, see you all next time, take care, and I know it's a few days away but Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays.
