Puck marched through the forest, his hand wrapped tightly around my wrist as he pulled me along with him.
"Robbie! Puck! Will you stop?! It hurts!"
He briefly glanced back at me over his shoulder, his face still etched with worry.
"No can do Pipsqueak. We need to get you back through a trod, and fast." He pulled her along quicker. "I don't know who put the block on you to stop you coming into the Nevernever, but regardless of who it is will be pissed when they find out." A sort of smile appeared on his face. "And then you and I will both be in BIG trouble."
"I don't understand!" I wailed whilst trying to remove my hand from his grip.
He let out a exasperated sigh.
"This won't do." He muttered.
Pausing, he finally let go of my hand. I began rubbing my wrist looking down at the red mark where his hand had gripped it.
"Ouch! Have you se.." I looked back up to find Puck no longer there, instead there was a large grey horse.
"You have got to be kidding me."
I didn't know how exactly I knew the horse was Puck, although the bright green eyes were somewhat of a give away, I was just struggling to be surprised at this point.
"No time. Hop on."
"No."
"Now, Pipsqueak."
I was about to decline, being as stubborn as I am, until I sound I only learnt just recently to recognise grumbled some distance behind me. I froze, Puck froze. We stood for a moment barely daring to move.
A moment later a savage yell echoed around the forest.
Puck didn't have to ask again, I was on his back before I even realised it.
"Why do I feel like this is Deja vu?" he asked as he began weaving his way through the wood.
Puck went fast, I struggled to hold on as he ducked and weaved, several times I imagined myself slide from his back and falling heavily onto the hard ground, only to be pounced on seconds later by little knarly goblins with spears. As though responding the my thoughts a spear went hurtling past my head.
I yelled.
"Try keep it together Pipsqueak!" Puck yelled.
I almost laughed, considering our current situations I thought I was keeping it together rather well and was perfectly justified in screaming at having a spear thrown towards my head for the second time in one night. I kicked him in the side.
After some time the forest began to slow change, the trees became less clustered and more sparse. The yells of the goblins could barely be heard, we'd finally lost them. Puck however didn't slow.
"I think we've lost them!" I shouted.
"I know! We're still in a rush!"
Horse Puck continued galloping for what felt like forever, the skin on my thighs was becoming sore from gripping so tightly. My hands ached from gripping his mane. He didn't start walking again for some time.
Horse puck huffed ans drew to a stop.
" Hop off, you can walk now."
"Thank god!" I yelled as I slipped to the ground. I hobbled forward a couple of steps.
Puck laughed.
"Its hardly funny."
"I'm trying desperately to stop myself from making a dirt joke. You should thank me. "
I scowled at him
"You do and I will throw something hard and heavy at your head."
Soon he had us storming through the forest again, this time not dragging me so long as I kept up. He hardly spoke the whole time, which was totally bizarre, I could see he was figuring things out in his head. For Puck to be serious I knew that we were in danger, for the weeks I'd known him, never once had he been so serious and that was the most terrifying thing. If Puck was scared, that I should be more scared. We continued for hours, on and on past the same looking trees and bushes. Thorns sliced at my hoody leaving tears in the fabric, my hear was all over from our escape and from ours of walking through bushes and trees. I was becoming incredibly tired, it had been evening when we left so it couldn't even begin to work out what time it should be now. The sky was still the same darkness, no hint of a sunrise. I was going to ask Puck why, but I just couldn't be bothered. Maybe I didn't want to know?
I tripped over a thick vine and sprawled across the floor. Exhausted, I couldn't pick myself back up. Puck looked back confused and rushed to pick me up after noticing me prone on the floor.
"Maybe we should take a rest." he reluctantly suggested.
"Maybe." I dead panned back.
He sat me against a tree, seating himself next to me.
"Rob... I mean Puck. What on earth is going on?"
He looked at me, smirking.
"Honestly Pipsqueak? I'm not sure. Just that we need to get you out of here as soon as possible."
I nodded.
"How are we going to do that?"
"We need to get you to a trod."
"Okay," I said "Let me guess, easier said than done?"
Puck tapped me on the head
" 're catching on quick kid." he paused "I have friends nearby who can help, we'll go to them first."
I gasped in mock shock.
"You have friends?"
He laughed.
"Oh, I have friends all right."
