Things weren't going his way. This was the only conclusion Jellal could come to as Erza avoided him and when he received a call from Siegrain he knew it was official.
It wasn't that Jellal hated Siegrain though. Siegrain was his brother. It was just that Siegrain didn't have a kind bone in his body. He wasn't a bad person by any means, he just believed in helping the most deserving over others. The only problem was that Siegrain had high standards of who was deserving.
To say that Siegrain was a brilliant if unprincipled politician was like saying that Hitler was merely a cruel and oppressive dictator. Yes you may be right but they are more than that. Siegrain's power within America is nothing short of absolute. Working his way up the ranks of the department of Homeland security Siegrain established himself as its head before bribing and blackmailing his way through the civil service. It is said that Toma Fiore maybe the president of America, but Siegrain is its master.
So why was he calling now? He was a busy man so generally he only called once a month. Jellal decided to answer the phone and find out.
"Hello Sieg, what do you want?"
"What a sad day when civility has all but disappeared from conversation."
"You called a senator, an idiot of biblical proportions whose every word reveals him to be a gigantic buffoon who should be booted out of office before he destroys America."
"That is politics, everyone knows you can't be afford to be civil in that arena. Anyways I'm calling to let you know that you nearly caused an international incident. Erza's parents are freaking out over their daughter after Simon came home alone. As they are a part of a an important political dynasty its kind of a big deal. I managed to calm them down and convince them that she's with a friend of mine, a Mrs. Charlotte. They want to speak with Mrs. Charlotte and Erza, so I need you and Erza to come over to the airport to explain things to them."
"Why do I need to be there. Shouldn't Mrs. Charlotte be there to explain things with Erza?"
"Why, Jellal, Mrs. Charlotte doesn't exist. Or rather, you're going to cross dress as Mrs. Charlotte."
"Are you insane?! They'll never approve of me. How stupid would they have to be to not see through this?"
"Oh you of so little faith. People see what they want to see. Show them a well bred, well mannered lady and that is what they'll see. And they're arriving tomorrow morning. I would suggest that you talk to Erza about this and prep her on her answers."
As Jellal prepared to hang up, Siegrain's voice came floating up from the receiver, "Oh, and Jellal I think you'd make a cute girl."
Jellal groaned, it seemed his problems were only mounting with no end in sight to them.
Oh the things I do for love, Jellal thought, as he prepared to humiliate himself in front of Erza. Because really, there is no way to hold on to dignity while asking the woman you love to help you shop for a dress and some lip stick.
A/N: Hello any fans I have left, thank you for waiting this long. The good news is my next chapter will likely be up soon, the bad news is that I'm vey close to discontinuing this story. But I'm sure that there are better Jerza stories out there to replace this one. May I suggest Aero CLuster's Poetry in Motion? Anyways writing this was a chore, I'm sorry it wasn't out faster, I just lost inspiration, and manipulating the facts until Siegrain wasn't evil was difficult to do then I decided screw it, I follow canon so rarely that deviating from Siegrain's actual personality isn't a big deal. Now to find some way to make Erza less passive... And if anyone hasn't guessed, the Erza's parents thing was to a.) get Jellal to cross dress and b.) to resolve that big glaring plot hole known as parental supervision. Guess which one was my priority.
And this is really off topic but god, reading this makes me realize how much of a hypocrite I am. I loathe stories where romance is the main plot point and the driving tension is love with my soul. It was why I was bored to tears by the Fault in Our Stars because though Greene treats cancer patients with humanity, the emphasis on the love story ruins the book for me. Yet here I am writing a fanfiction in which the plot is the romance. And am I the only one who finds it ironic that I'm writing a romance story that resembles the Great Gatsby, one of the greatest and most famous anti love stories of all time in which no one gets a happy ending? Don't worry if I finish this it will be with a big goofy happy ending. If I finish... And I hope you guys aren't annoyed and tired of my ridiculously long random author's notes. I should really stop with these. It isn't like they're there to increase my word count or anything...
