Hello again! Sorry this took so long, I struggled to think up what to include so I went with what the heck and gave Sigyn a freakin' awesome emotional rollercoaster. But wth, I'm starting chapter 10 IMMEDIATELY. It's gonna be so gud! I'm so excited to write it if I'm honest, and it all started because I had a dream about the Cult TV show "Supernatural" which I've never seen before.

Anyways, thanks to all my lovely reviewers I have just over 30 reviews! Yay! So happy :) Maybe I'll get to 100 before the end of the story! Please continue to review, it means a lot to moi.

Haunt me chapter 9- Engage with a nightmare

The aroma of cooking food roused me from my slumber. I sat up groggily, groaning as I had constant and unexpected flashbacks of the previous night. A crack of sunlight shone through the window and sliced my eyesight. I looked beside me to see you a glass of water by the bedside. My arms were shaking, and my legs were so sore and stiff I couldn't move without grunting in pain.

"I really hurt." I whimpered to an empty room. I forgot about Loki's presence. It seemed I also forgot that he could hear for a mile in each direction. A moment later he was stood in my doorway, concern furrowing his eyebrows.

"Are you well?" He asked; his voice was quiet.

"I'm better…" I croaked. My throat was dry, and I soon gulped down the glass of water Loki had provided.

"How do you feel?" He made no move- he stayed rigid.

"I feel very disorientated, thirsty and hungry. At the same time, my legs and arms really hurt! What happened?" I exclaimed in surprise. I began pulling the covers down to examine the apparent damage. Loki shot forward and placed a restricting hand on my arms.

"Don't." He whispered, his emerald eyes earnest.

"Why?" I whispered in response, fear settling its roots into my fluttering heart.

"It's better that way." He replied, avoiding my question's intention.

"It's my body, Loki, I need to know what happened. You weren't there- I need to know how exactly the damage was caused. And I need to know what damage there is, more importantly." I was unnecessarily defiant about the issue, but I needed to know.

I pulled the satin back, and it rolled caressingly over my skin. I gasped at the ghastly sight of my body. I was wearing only my undergarments- I looked up at Loki in shock.

"Did I come home in this state?" I cried, completely dazed.

"I used magic to undress you from another room, if that's what you were implying." He answered helpfully. His eyes were wide, just as I imagined mine to be.

"No, I meant the dozens of cuts and bruises that have formed like Asgard's constellations!" My voice was getting shrill as I panicked.

"You were bleeding heavily when I managed to get the beast to release you."

"Bruce is no beast. I spoke to him last night… I think. Anyway, he's really kind. If it wasn't for him, I might still be there in an even worse state than I am in now!"

"You'll need to visit Fury and ask him to seek treatment. I managed to remove most of the glass, but even the aid of magic failed to remove certain stubborn shards of it. That's what caused all the cuts." Shocked, I stood up and surveyed the full damage in the mirror.

"I look hideous." I whispered, broken. Before I could blink, I was being held tightly by Loki.

"You're not. You're very beautiful. You always have been, sweet thorn." He walked away after that. He brought me my morning meal, and helped me dress, as my legs were stiff and I found it hard to walk. I wore a pair of small heeled shoes, so I wouldn't humiliate myself in front of the Avengers.

"Please avoid a fight today. Or else I'll interject, and probably never get let on parole, as Fury puts it." He warned me gently, as I limped to the SHIELD alert button.

"I'm too stiff to move properly. I'll resort to magic when the time comes." I assured with a laugh. He laughed with me, although concern was still concealed within his eyes. We were escorted into the building, and I hobbled the way there. I felt so weak.

"Tony is so in for it." I muttered darkly as I saw the man laughing in the glass room. He was wearing glasses that were dark. I recalled their purpose- they were sunglasses that protected eyes from the sunlight.

"Hey look who finally decided to join us!" He cried with a loud cheer. The whole team looked fine- some were pale, mind, but they were nowhere near as damaged as I. I limped bravely to face Tony again.

"What happened last night Tony? Why am I covered in cuts?" I cried, gesturing to my arms and legs.

"Well, in my drunk and unaware state, I may have underestimated your vulnerability." He winced at my dark expression.

"What did you do?" I cried again.

"I threw several bottles at you as you drank down the Everclear shit. If it helps, I've told Al not to sell it there anymore." He tried to defend himself.

"I hate you. I actually hate you." I sighed in defeat. I was in no state to fight Tony. It was coming, though. He breathed in relief.

"I see you two have resolved your issues?" Steve asked with a hopeful smile.

"Issues…" I trailed off. Then the memories hit me. I turned slowly to face Loki.

"Oh. Those issues." I said, starting to hiss. My inner anger was beginning to show. I had forgotten about what Loki had done, due to the whole drinking commotion.

"Sigyn…" Loki backed up a step. His eyes flitted nervously around the room. He didn't want to be seen defeated by me, but at the same time wanted to apologize. I scanned his mind to discover that.

"No. Don't try and squirm or charm your way out of this, you little rat. You lied… deceived me for personal gain. What was it all for?" I cried.

"I think my intention was obvious enough." He answered abruptly, avoiding eye contact.

"You little…" I shook my head and glared. I laughed a humourless laugh in disbelief.

"Can I interject here?" Tony interrupted. I clenched my fists in an effort of self control.

"What?"

"You may or may not want to hear this, but you explained your entire predicament to me whilst you began to drink. And I did listen. You said that he asked you, whilst he was in the disguise as Natasha, if you loved him. And then you asked him if you thought he loved you, unaware that you were talking to him yourself. He could have said no, if he did not. But what did he tell you when you asked if he loved you?"

I thought about Tony's intelligent point. My resolve wavered long enough for Loki to step forward and regain his superiority. I gulped at him when he stood fully straight. His expression was icy. My Loki was buried deep in the complicated soul I loved. His back was straight. His figure was imposing, and a small chill settled within me. I thought of Loki's answer when I asked him if he loved me. As deceiving as he was, I couldn't avoid the fact that he admitted he loved me- sort of.

"Loki…" I was at a loss as to what I should have said.

"It's fine. I shouldn't have deceived you like I did. It was unfair of me. I shouldn't cheat these things." He flashed me a smile with his brilliant white teeth. There was an awkward silence that hung around the room. Do you… love me then? I asked in my head. In a heartbeat he responded out loud.

"I… yes, I do." He said, smiling my familiar smile that made my heart melt. I couldn't contain my joy then- I ran up to him and pulled him in for a crushing hug. I winded him, but he picked me up and spun me round nevertheless. I forgot of the presence of the Avengers, until I heard the snickers of the amateur agents scattered around the room, in case Loki decided to escape.

"Oh." I gasped, pulling away awkwardly. Loki dropped his smile, and I dropped mine. In the brief and beautiful moment, my limp had been abandoned. But it came back with a vengeance. I almost fell to the floor if Loki had not steadied me, and a rush of vertigo sent me wincing to the table and chairs. Concerned, Steve spoke.

"Are you alright Sigyn?" His eyebrows furrowed in worry.

"Yeah I'm okay. Just some annoying creature really hurt me with glass last night." I said venomously. Tony looked down in guilt. Before the conversation could progress however, an awful shuddering that vibrated in my teeth and made the ground shake brought us all to panicking gasps and hurried words of confusion.

"Fury..?" I called out in uncertainty. He appeared suddenly, his eye wide with fear and determination. After a moment longer of the shuddering, a large and painful thud hit the roof of the room and silence reigned.

"We haven't been strictly honest with you Sigyn." He began.

"What is that meant to mean to me?" I asked, my heart rate still too fast.

"Loki told us you would know who the culprit of these interruptions were should we tell you." I looked to Loki, who gave me a look of slight fear but calm.

"The culprit your 'trickster' claims is called Thanos." He said, tapping a computer screen to bring up a small passage of information. I couldn't breathe.

"Thanos! I grew up with stories of him. He is said to be so dangerous no one who opposes him lives to tell the tale." My voice was shaking.

"But the objects landing on our roof are called Chitauri. Your little friend over there originally led them. And pissed them off by accepting defeat." Fury continued, whilst shooting a hard glare at Loki. I shut my eyes and put my shaking hands on my face. Loki stiffened at the mention of his name.

"What do you plan to do?" I asked.

"Thanos is apparently landing according to the one Chitauri that survived the impact. We expect Thanos won't survive the impact either. His body mass is apparently too large to be sustainable from such a long distance." A small flicker of hope within me caused me to open my eyes and withdraw my hands.

"We've had Loki imprisoned for almost a year and a half now, and he seems to have partially repented for his evil. Tomorrow when Thanos is due to land for he is almost in our atmosphere, he will accompany the Avengers and I to meet and kill Thanos on sight. You have to stay here, since you're officially not a member of the Avenger team." His explanation was longwinded, but I got the gist of it. He paused for breath and analyse my emotions and then continued.

"Should he make it back alive however slim his chances, he may be accepted as you are with us." I squinted, trying to understand the bargain.

"Basically, I'll no longer be a prisoner but like you. I have to stay here but treated equally."

"But his crime was horrendous!" Tony cried.

"Yes, but he's caused us no trouble at all, and it's fairly obvious he's not going anywhere with Sigyn around. If he causes us trouble, we will harm her in return." He said, looking at me with remorse, apology but determination.

"You'd harm me if Loki misbehaved, should he survive?"

"I'm sorry Sigyn, but we are authorised to do so. You are after all E.T, and we have a license to probe and experiment on you. You ain't human." He said. I looked back at Loki in disbelief. His eyes begged me to not object.

"Fine. You will say farewell before you depart tomorrow, yes?" Fury nodded.

"Of course, we shall wake you for we need to take Loki away." A silent tear slipped down my cheek at the thought and fear of my trickster engaging in battle with one of my nightmares.
