Chapter 9:
"Abby" Alicia says as she taps on the door a couple times, "Ser Ser? You guys decent?" she tries to turn the knob but finds it firmly locked. "Come on guys, I made breakfast." She knocks again loudly and places her ear against the door.
"It is illogical to stay in here."
"Fine, just don't forget your hat."
Abigail frowns behind the door. "I promise I didn't burn it this time" she says loudly and watches with triumph as the knob twists.
Her smile slips away as she looks up at the tall man sliding through the door "cowboy hat again?" He doesn't answer and instead glides down the wood stair case, the old boards creak slightly under his weight.
The toast was slightly burnt and the eggs were a little runny but the orange juice had the perfect amount of sweetness and Saren drank two glasses. Abigail picked at the eggs and watched Alicia chatting away ecstatically about things in which she had very little interest.
"How long are you planning on staying?" Abigail asks blandly, turning her head towards the window and watching disinterestedly as the snow flakes pile up, she'll have to check on the animals after she eats.
The smaller girl laughs slightly "you just wanna get rid of me so you can have fun with your cowboy" she smiles widely as she watches Abigail turn away from Saren's sharp gaze. His lifts an eyebrow but averts his attention back to a charred piece.
Abigail frowns and catches the other girls eyes and says bravely "so what if I am?" This only causes Alicia to laugh harder.
"Don't worry I only planned to stay the night, I have business else where in town. You weren't my only friend when I was here ya know?" She looks over at Saren, "and I wouldn't want to interrupt the role playing game."
Saren lifts an eyebrow higher and pauses his fork on the plate. "The sexual tension is so strong I could cut it with this butter knife" she holds up the knife for emphasis and goes back into a fit of hysterics. Abigail frowns deeply and watches as Alicia clutches at her sides.
"I don't think it's that ridiculous" Abigail says slowly to Saren as she watches Alicia back out of the dirt drive way.
"What is?" Saren watches the back of her head closely. Her hair still has a snow in it from her walk to the barn.
"She was inferring that it was so improbable that anything was going on between us that it would throw her into a fit of laughter just at the idea." Abigail frowns deeply, her face still turned away from him.
"What does that expression mean, anything between us?" He watches her closely. She is now staring at the tree line off the the distance. She takes a slow breath and turns to look at him.
"Between us, it means something romantic, more specifically she was referring to sex, she was implying that we showed no sexual chemistry."
"Sexual chemistry?" he watched her take in another long breath before answering.
"Um well huh um?" Her shoulders drop for a brief moment. "How how about some hot chocolate? Have you ever had hot chocolate before? You'll like hot chocolate, hot chocolate is good. Let's get you some hot chocolate. Come on, you'll like it! I promise."
"If you insist" he says slowly and follows her into the kitchen, silently thankful to get away from the chill of an open door.
The large cup is warm between his hands. He hears a pwshhhing sound as Abigail sprays a white foam over the brown liquid. "What is this white substance on the surface of this drink?"
"Oh, whip cream, you'll like whip cream." She says with a smile as she sprays some into her own cup. "Drink up."
He lifts the hot mug to his lips. He tests the cream on his tongue. "It is exceptionally sweet." Abigail smiles as he tilts the mug up and takes a long drink. He pulls the mug from his lips slowly.
"How do you like it?"
"The taste is oddly familiar." He watches the glass with a scrutinizing gaze before lifting it to his lips again.
"Really, do you think you have something like this on your planet?" She watches him hold the mug to his lips for a long moment.
"Perhaps." He looks at the diminishing white foam intently before looking up at her. "Are you aware..." he trails off as his gaze locks further on the center of her face. He lifts up slightly and nips at the tip of her nose. He sits back with a small bit of whip cream on the corner of his lower lip, he licks it off instinctively.
"What.." She says slowly as she watches him take another long drag.
"It was logical" he says and observes her slowly raise her fingers to trace the lines of her nose.
"Why is that?" she watches him longer before taking a sip of her own mug, she smiles into the liquid.
Her cup is still two thirds of the way full by the time Saren finishes his own. He watches her intently as she takes a small sip. She looks up and catches his gaze. She smiles softly "do I have something on my face again?" She tries to lift the mug up again but finds Saren's large hand planted firmly over hers. His gaze intensifies.
"Do you want a sip?" She smiles a little wider. Saren doesn't answer, instead he lifts her hand up and brings it to his lips. He traces his lower lip over her index finger, he watches her reaction intently.
Abigail's smile drops and her lips fall slightly apart as she notices how dark Saren's eyes have gotten. "Saren?" she watches him wrap his over-sized hands over her slender one.
He lifts one hand from the pile and traces his fingers over her jaw line, stopping as his thumb glides softly over her pink lips. "Saren" she says again and he crashes his lips against hers.
His mouth is hot and tastes like cocoa. He places his other hand on her thigh and she moans involuntarily. His eyes go a shade darker and he's out of his chair, lifting her quickly onto the kitchen counter. He presses against her and she wiggles slightly from the attention.
She runs her finders through his sleek black hair. She breaks the kiss and thrusts her head back. Saren takes the invitation and kisses her neck. He nips her pulse point and she turns into putty. "Saren" she says breathlessly and pushes her body against his more. She claws at the fabric of his shirt and captures his lips.
She rubs a finger over his ear and he gasps into the kiss, she takes the opportunity and teasingly moves her tongue into his mouth. They are soon in a fight of dominance that he is sure to win. Before he can she pulls back from him again and observes his dark eyes and labored breathing. She traces her lips over his jaw. She reaches his left ear and kisses it softly. He moves instinctively against her. She lays an open mouth kiss on the outer edge of his ear and he shudders involuntarily. She finally nibbles the tip of his ear and he moans loudly into her shoulder. The sound is unexpected and she stops for a quick moment.
She smiles slightly and kisses his lips again, bringing her hand up and caressing the sensitive ear. She tugs at his bottom lip with her teeth at the same time as tugging slightly at his ear. He rocks his hips into hers and she lets out an unexpected moan from the contact. "Saren" she breathes out when the kiss is broken again. "I," her mouth is dry and she licks her lips absentmindedly. "Bedroom" she breathes and he picks her up effortlessly. He carries her quickly to the stairs.
Abigail yelps in surprise as Saren quickly loses his balance and falls back from the fourth step. She hits her head on the wall coming down.
Three hours later they are sitting in the living room. Saren in his favorite easy chair and Abigail on the couch.
"I remembered why that drink tasted familiar." Abigail looks from her feet to him.
"Oh really, what is it?" He pauses for a long moment.
"On Vulcan it is the equivalent to Earth alcohol." It takes her a few seconds to understand.
"So you were drunk?" She watches him with a smile slowly spreading on her face.
"I was intoxicated, yes." She tries to suppress a laugh, she barely succeeds.
"Really?" She watches him closely, biting down on her lower lip.
"That is what I said." She laughs for a moment before grabbing onto her head.
"Ouch" she scrunches up her face a little.
"I'm sorry." She frowns further at the words.
"It wasn't your fault."
"I should have been more careful." He watches her closely.
"You were intoxicated" she points out and laughs before again rubbing at her head. "I'm fine" she says as he stands up.
"It would be logical to put more ice on it since you still appear to be in pain." He disappears through the doorway.
"If you insist" she takes the ice pack from him and places it gently on the side of her head. "I'm sorry."
"You have nothing to apologize for."
"Yes I do, if we hadn't of fallen we would of, you know" she nods upstairs "it wouldn't have been right, I should have noticed that something was wrong but I got too caught up in what was happening."
"There is no way you could have known the affect that beverage would of had on me." He watches her closely and knits his brows together.
"But still.." she trails off and looks away from him, the pattern on the couch suddenly becomes very interesting.
"Would you have regretted it?" He looks down and studies his hands.
"No, of course not" she says quickly, looking at him sharply. It is somewhat odd for her to see him as insecure, but his words and his mannerisms at this point make him seem extraordinarily vulnerable to her. "I just don't think it would be right if our first time together was because one of us was intoxicated."
She looks away "no, that's not right. That isn't exactly true, its not why, it would just lower our inhibition to stop the desires that are already there. Not why, but I'd rather our first time to be something that happened naturally and we both want and would be ready for."
"Did you not want to?" He asks still looking at his still hands.
"I wasn't the one who was drunk Saren." He sits up a little straighter. "If you recall correctly I think you would remember that I was" she searches for the word, "receptive, active." She watches him as he lifts his face to look at her. "It would be illogical to believe that I did not want to."
Saren moves from his seat and sits next to her. He kisses her sweetly on the lips and holds the ice to her head gently.
"Are you still drunk?" Saren laughs in that way that isn't laughing and smiles in that way that isn't smiling. Abigail's lays her head against his chest. "I'm always surprised by how much faster the Vulcan heart is than a humans.
"There's a reason for that." She closes her eyes.
