Chapter 8

Looking at the frightened figure before her, Lin said "Oh, so this is Pema. Hmmpf, well I've heard a lot about you during my honeymoon. Well nice to finally meet you."

Still in her hold, Pema looked back and forth between her and Tenzin. I thought Lin wasn't supposed to find out about this… Damn it, how is my plan going to go through now…

Tenzin walked up to the two women and said "I know my dad told you not to tell a single spirit about what you told me before, but I hate keeping secrets. I told my wife and we are not fond of you at all. What you did tonight is a crime and with my wife being a part of the police department, we are going to talk to you about your trespassing."

"Oh and I know my mother was there when you talked to my husband and you best believe that you are lucky that you are talking to me instead of her" Lin continued as she put her down into one of the chairs in their room. "Anyways, since we are all here now, we are going to talk about what just happened and after this we're going to the department once the sunrises. Is that understood?" With Lin's death glare, she quickly nodded.

Right when Lin was going to get settled, Tenzin walked up to his wife and whispered into her ear. He wanted her to talk to Pema and her only and with agreement, Lin allowed Tenzin to go to their daughter's room and watch over her while the two talked. With that, he nodded to Pema then kissed his wife's cheek.

Lin sighed. Spirits, this lady is lucky that I love Tenzin, her head would have been off by now if it weren't for him…

It's been five minutes since Tenzin left and with each minute, Lin's glare towards her began to get harder and harder. "So do you want to explain yourself or are we just going to sit here 'til we go to the police department where we can talk to my mother"

Pema stared at the floor. She knew she was getting a hard glare from Lin and even if she loved Tenzin she was still intimidated and she still feared for her life. I might as well talk now before I have to face Toph Beifong…

"Well, I know you know about the whole thing that happened on your wedding day… but I honestly think that Tenzin is my soulmate. He belongs to me and just me. I've been in love with him since I first saw him and I don't know what he sees in you. You're cold, you're heartless, and you're a who-" Lin slapped her hard. She was done listening, it was her turn to talk.

"Look at me and listen closely. Don't you dare say that. You don't know how our relationship is. Even if you were an Air Acolyte and lived here with his family, you never saw our whole relationship. Yes we may have fought, but dear you have not seen us make up and I doubt you even want to. I may hate you but I am not going to stoop so low to what you have done. You are crazy for stalking our family and it is a crime. You are messing with the wrong family and you clearly don't know what you are doing. I don't know how long you are going to be in prison, but considering that I am a Beifong and my mother is head of the police department, oh AND my husband is the Avatar's son, you are going to be there for a while." With her last word, she walked to her police uniform to find her handcuffs and when she did, she walked back to Pema. "It's still not four in the morning, but once it hits seven we are going to the police department and my mother is going to deal with you. For now, sit tight, I'm going to be with my husband and daughter."

Lin began to leave the room but turned back. "Not like you can, but don't you dare try to escape. There's a reason why I found you outside of our room and I can easily detect if you move the chair even a single inch."

Stupid, stupid Pema. What did I do? It's over for me. I'm going to be stuck in a filthy prison cell. Spirits, I'm going to have to deal with Toph everyday… Oh crap.

Three hours later…

Toph was walking to her office when she felt a familiar heartbeat. Could that be… Oh spirits, it is! Wow, Lin's twins are growing faster than I thought… Wait, why is Lin here… "Lin, what are you doing here?"

Toph's daughter was offended, she thought she'd be happy for her to be there, but she forgot about it, she was here on important business. "Hi, mother. Nice to see you, too. I guess?"

Sensing her daughter's sadness, she quickly replied. "Oh, it's not that, I'm just not to seeing you at the department when you're pregnant. Did something happen?!"

"In matter of fact, mother, do you remember Pema?" With that, Toph's eyes widened and began to notice Pema's presence and began to glare at her direction.

"What did this crazy bitch do?!"

Lin sighed. "She trespassed onto the island after being kicked off. She was outside of me and Tenzin's room when we were doing stuff…" As much as Lin hated Pema, she placed a soft hand on her mother. Ugh, stupid hormones. I hate being nice.

"Stuff, huh?" Toph smirked as she blocked Lin's punch. "Just because I'm blind doesn't mean I can't sense you about to hit me, Lin."

"Whatever, mother. Can you just take care of this, I'm tired and Jinora and I have a playdate later. I just want to spend time with her…"

"That's fine, go ahead, I'll take this off your hands."

"So Pema, you do realize trespassing is a crime, right?" Toph grabbed her by the elbow, forcing her into a cell.

"Yes… Yes, I do." Pema willingly went inside and took a seat in the corner. "So how long am I going to be in here for?"

"Three years, tops. But kid, after that, I'm placing you on parole. This is not going to happen again. You are a threat to the only airbending family and I am not going to allow you to ruin it. I'm going easy on you but if something like this happens again, you're going to have to handle this with Tenzin. He may be Twinkletoes Jr. but he can be a rough guy- worse than my own daughter." With that she walked away to let Pema think about her actions.

This may be over now, Beifongs, but I will come back. Don't you worry.

When Lin came back to the island, she met her husband and Jinora near the water. All three of them were in their bathing suits and proceeded to play in the sand.

They were building a sand castle when Lin looked up at her husband with teary eyes. "Tenzin, I can't believe that it isn't going to be us three anymore…"

"I know, Lin, but either way we're going to have fun." He looked at her in the eyes and then kissed her forehead. He loved her dearly and was very happy that she began to listen to her mother. She was the only one who believed that being Chief of Police would make her proud but nine months before Jinora was born, Toph confronted her.

A few years ago…

Lin Beifong's desk was right outside of her mother's office. She was doing paperwork for a case that was just finished when her mother peaked her head out. "Lin, can you come to my office?" Confused, she stood up and moved her way to her mother's desk. "Please sit down, can you?" Lin nodded and sat in front of her mother.

Toph feared this conversation. She wanted her daughter to listen to her and she knew the only way she would was if it was at the station. "Lin, I need you to listen to me and I need you to agree that you won't interrupt me, do you understand, Capt?"

Even though she was still confused, she knew it was best to always agree to her mother and the Chief of Police and proceeded to agree. "I understand, Chief. So what do you want to talk to me about?"

"I know you are very determined to take my place when I retire but I don't want that. I know you want me to be proud of you, but I already am. The moment that you began earthbending was the proudest moment of my life. I need you to understand that I am proud of you and you no longer need to feel the need to please me. You have been with Tenzin for years and I know he's been wanting to ask you to marry him… Anyways, I just want you to start focusing on other things other than work. I want you to do things that you want to do. Have more Twinkletoes for this world and go travel the world. Stop being so uptight and free yourself from this stupid path of being Chief of Police. You're my little badgermole and no matter what I will always love you. Please do this for me…" It was unusual to see her mother tearing up and as soon as she did, she walked up to her and comforted her.

"I always thought you wanted me to be Chief of Police, that's why I've been holding myself back with Tenzin…" Now Lin was starting to tear up. "Thank you, mother. I love him. I don't want things to end with him. I'll talk to him about this tonight, I know he's been considering breaking up with me and I think this will ease things up with him.

Toph smiled at her daughter and took her hands. "I'm ending your shift early, then. Go ahead and go to your airhead boyfriend." She was soon in her daughter's arms, it was one of those rare mother/daughter hugs. It made her love the hugs even more.

"Thanks again, mother, I'll tell you everything tomorrow! I love you!" Lin yelled as she ran out of her office.

Toph sighed. That girl needed that talk, but at least she's going to be safe from all the police work now. Twinkletoes' kid is going to be happy.

"I'm so glad your mother talked to you…" Tenzin said as he came back to reality.

Lin rubbed her small growing stomach. "Me too, Airhead. I never thought of having a family but I'm glad that I have you two and these two on the way." She then kissed her husband's lips. "I love you, Ten."

He smiled "I love you, too, Lin. Oh and when are you going to stop calling me Airhead?!" Lin glared at him and bended the sand to launch him into the water, causing Jinora to laugh.

"Ugh, these hormones are going to kill me for the next couple of months," Tenzin muttered under his breath as he treaded in the water.

A/N: Okay from here I think I'm going to make time jumps so I can incorporate Korra and stuff... I'm sorry if there are some errors, I got tired half way and tried my best. Anyways, please review and give me suggestions of things I should write about. Oh yeah the next few chapters are gonna be about the twins and stuff so suggest names and what type of bending they'd do. Well until next time!
