Chapter 9: Kite's True Strength!

In the garbage facility Hart was once again turning garbage into fire and throwing it through portals.

"Let me he more!" roared Hart. "More screams! MORE!"

"Excellent work Hart," cheered Faker. "Crush the Astral world!"

Yuma Tsukumo VS Kite Tenjo

Number 39: Utopia: Attack 2500

Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon: Attack 3000

"Galaxy-Eyes' attack is 300," commented Yuma. "And Utopia's is 2500. But I have to attack here. The best offense is a good defense."

"That's a good plan," replied Astral as he eyed the spell Blustering Winds in Yuma's hand.

"I'm going all out," declared Yuma. "I play Blustering Winds! Now one of my monsters get 1000 attack points until my next turn! Utopia now has a higher attack then Galaxy-Eyes!"

Number 39: Utopia: Attack 2500-3500

"You dare challenge Galaxy-Eyes!" laughed Kite.

"You go it!" replied Yuma. "Attack Utopia! Hope Sword Slash!"

Utopia drew its sword and charged.

"Don't under estimate Galaxy-Eyes!" roared Kite. "I use his effect! When Galaxy-Eyes battles I can banish our monsters!"

Galaxy-Eyes lit up and then both monsters were gone.

"What!" cried Astral.

"No!" added Yuma. "I just summoned Utopia!"

"Make your next move!" snorted Kite.

"I end my battle phase," replied Yuma.

"And now the other effect of Galaxy-Eyes kicks in!" exclaimed Kite. "Our monsters return!"

The dragon with eyes like the galaxy appeared and so did the golden knight.

Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon: Attack 3000

Number 39: Utopia: Attack 2500

"So I get Utopia back," commented Yuma.

"No feel the true power of Galaxy-Eyes!" cried Kite. "When he banishes an XYZ monster! He absorbs the overlay units of that monster! And he gains 500 attack for each one! So I absorb Kaketokage and Gagaga Magician!"

Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon: Attack 3000-4000

"What!" cried Astral.

Turn 5: Kite

"My turn!" roared Kite. "Galaxy-Eyes attacks Utopia! Photon Stream of Destruction!"

A stream of galactic energy was unleashed from Galaxy-Eyes' mouth and smashed into Utopia.

"Numbers can only be defeated by other Numbers!" shouted Kite. "But I will inflict damage!"

Yuma: 4000-2500

"I also activate a quick-play spell from my hand!" continued Kite. "Photon Wind! Now because I inflicted damage but failed to destroy your monster, this will smash you with 1000 points of damage!"

"No way!" cried Astral. "He was counting on not destroying our Numbers!"

Yuma and Astral cried out as they were thrown back from a gust of wind that lowered their life points.

Yuma: 2500-1500

"Photon Wind also let's me draw one card!" added Kite. "I set a card and end my turn!"

"It appears he's taken a significant amount of my life," said Astral as his body began to fade.

"Stop!" spat Kite as Yuma went to stand up. "Don't get up! You'll regret it! My method of hunting Numbers is a bit rough! When I take an opponents Number their soul is ripped from their body!"

"My soul," mumbled Yuma.

"They caught up this guy who was holding up the mall and he was stiff and cold and he was screaming Numbers Hunter," explained Kari.

"Where do the souls go?" asked Yuma.

"I don't know," replied Kite. "That isn't under my control. Surrender now and I won't cause you unnecessary pain."

"No way am I giving up!" declared Yuma as he stood up.

"Then I will hunt your soul!" spat Kite.

"My turn!" cried Yuma.

'This guy is tough,' thought Yuma. 'I summoned Utopia and that didn't even help. What can I do.'

'Even Yuma's life is riding on this duel,' thought Astral.

Yuma's hand was shacking as he reached for his deck.

Turn 6: Yuma

"I draw!" exclaimed Yuma.

"A good offense is the best defense," commented Astral. "You said so yourself. Don't back down now."

"But if I screw up we lose," replied Yuma.

"True," replied Astral. "If we lose I will disappear and you will lose your soul."

"Are you afraid?" asked Yuma.

"Yes," replied Astral. "But I must move forward. This is my destiny. Stand tall Yuma. You won't beat this enemy if you show your back."

"Right," said Yuma as he gripped his pendant. "Let's do this! I summon Zubaba Knight!"

Zubaba Knight: Attack 1600

A knight wielding two swords appeared.

"Now I can special summon Kagemucha Knight because I summoned a level 3 monster to the field!" continued Yuma.

Kagemucha Knight: Attack 0

A sand like knight appeared.

"Now I overlay my two level 3 monsters!" declared Yuma. "I XYZ summon Number 17: Leviathan Dragon!"

Number 17: Leviathan Dragon: Attack 2000

A blue serpent like dragon appeared.

"Second Numbers confirmed!" cried Orbital 7.

"I use one of Leviathan Dragon's overlay units and boost its attack by 500 points!" roared Yuma.

Number 17: Leviathan Dragon: Attack 2000-2500

"I see!" spat Kite. "You've hunted Numbers yourself! But you can't beat Galaxy-Eyes!"

"I doesn't matter!" replied Yuma. "I activate Cross Attack! When I have tow monsters on my field with the same attack, I can make it that one of them can't attack while the other can direct attack! Go Utopia!"

"This duel isn't over yet!" added Astral.

Utopia charged, but Kite just smiled and cried, "So what! I activate the trap Photon Current! When a light type monster attacks me! It raises the attack of one of my light monsters by the attack of yours and then forces them to battle!"

Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon: Attack 4000-6500

"Counterattack!" commanded Kite.

"This can't be…" mumbled Astral.

"No!" cried Yuma.

'I can beat this guy,' thought Yuma. 'It doesn't matter how much I jet.'

Suddenly, Orbital 7 began to beep and it showed an image of Hart lying on the ground.

"Master Kite," said Orbital 7. "Trouble. Master Hart is…"

Kite looked at the image in pure horror before retracting the duel anchor and telling Orbital 7 that they were leaving.

Orbital 7 retracted wings and Kite jumped on and the two flew away.

Time started to move again and Tori fell to the ground while the truck speed passed.

'It can't be,' thought Astral. 'That man was a better duelist then I am.'

"We were completely out-fought," commented Astral. 'What a fearsome opponent.'

Tori got up and looked at Yuma who had his D-Pad on.

"What's going on?" asked Tori.

"I couldn't even lay a finger on him," mumbled Yuma while Tori looked on confused. "That wasn't jetting."

Yuma collapsed to his knees while Astral watched as the rain fell.

'Hart,' thought Kite in panic as he flew to Heartland tower.

-Several Months Earlier-

"Who are you?" asked Hart.

"Hart," said Heartland. "Don't you remember your own brother?"

"My brother?" questioned Hart.

"What have you done to Hart?" demanded Kite as he ran to Hart and hugged him.

"Hart has connected his soul to the Astral World," explained Heartland.

"The Astral World," mumbled Kite.

"Destroying the Astral World is the only way to save our own," replied Heartland. "Hart has been chosen to save us."

"Change him back!" roared Kite in anger.

At this time, Hart saw a butterfly and caught it in his hand.

"That can't be done," stated Heartland. "Hart's spirit is no longer here."

At this point in time, Hart crushed the butterfly.

"Well," added Heartland. "There is one way."

Hart dropped the remains of the butterfly and Kite couldn't believe his brother was acting like this.

"What is it?" asked Kite.

"The Numbers," replied Hart. "You need to collect them all."

"Numbers," muttered Kite.

"100 Numbers cards came from the Astral World," explained Heartland. "Collect them all. Become a Numbers Hunter and save Hart."

'Numbers Hunter,' thought Kite.

Kite entered Hart's room and walked over to his bed. Once Hart saw Kite he quietly said his name before Kite sat down and took Hart's hand in his.

"I never thought Hart would collapse," said the hologram of Faker. "I guessed I pushed him a little too hard. Now Kite won't leave Hart's side until he's better. Our Numbers collecting will be delayed."

"Don't worry Dr. Faker," said Heartland as he sat in a chair. "Kite isn't our only resource. We have other excellent Numbers Hunters."
