Chapter 9: Ghosts

After breakfast Dipper and Bill went for a walk, Ford had insisted they do it, family bonding or whatever.

"So you were born here in Gravity Falls, you wanna explore the old church and stuff?"

"Okay" Bill said smiling,

"Follow me!"

Bill followed Dipper to the old church, it creaked and groaned in the small amount of wind "Iv been here before, with my mum, Father Tom would drone on and on, me and my brother would fall asleep sometimes"

"You went to church here?"

"Yes, I hated it, so did my brother, but we went only for our mother, never complained. Father would never go, said it wasn't worth getting up for"

"Last time I was here we found dinosaurs and had this really cool adventure rescuing Mabel's Pig, plus there was that time were we were making the shack-tron and we needed a T-Rex"

"Ah yes the one that took out my eye, that actually really hurt Dipper, like really hurt" Bill rubbed his eyes as if he could still feel the pain of it,

Dipper chuckled and began studying the ground near an old building near the church, when he found something, old and rusted, covered in dirt "Bill!"

"What, what is it?"

"Whats this?"

Bill came over to see what Dipper had picked up, he was holding a necklace pendant, a triangle, the chain long gone "Its theirs" Bill whispered, "They all wore them, all of them"

"A triangle?"

"Yes, it would have had an eye in the middle, must of broken off"

"So you basically"

"No, I was just modeled after it"

"Do you want it?"

"No, you can keep it" Bill said looking at the run down building, the door off its hinges. It was the same place where it had happened.

"Dipper come with me inside, please"

"Just let me grab my flashlight" Dipper rooted around in his backpack, pulling out his flashlight "Here we go!"

Dipper followed close behind Bill, the beam lighting up the corridor, he followed Bill into a room that he had stopped at, Dippers mouth fell open "Is this where they did it?"

Bill nodded, the walls were no longer white, but grey, speckled with dried blood, and over grown moss and plants, a bird had nested in here at some point "They killed him here" Bill said staring at the walls.

Dipper walked out the room leaving Bill to his mourning.

He swept his light over to the far part of the hallway, when he spotted it, a skeleton, Dipper cried out in horror, dropping the flash light, he picked it back up "BILL!" he screamed, Bill came running out "What Dipper!? Whats wrong!?"

"That" he said breathing hard, pointing at the table on wheels,

Bill stared at the skeleton in shock "It can't be" he whispered walking up to it.

But it was, the skeleton lay on the same table, the same straps still held it in place "Will" he whispered.

Dipper screwed up his face "Dude hes been here this entire time!? That's just wrong and really gross, I'm sorry I know its your brother"

"Its okay I understand, its really sad. I killed all those men, this place would have been forgotten. abandoned, I need to bury him Dipper, properly"

"I'll help" Dipper said with a nod, he didn't want to see the rest of the rooms.

Bill undid the straps "There, free now brother, finally" with a good push and a squeak of the wheels they headed outside, rolling the old gurney with Wills skeleton "Where?" asked Dipper.

"With the rest of my family of course Dipper"

Bill went behind the old church, a large amount of old graves stood there, silent and cold, an old woman's ghost floated there, noticing the boys she came up to them, looking at the skeleton with eyebrows raised "Now whats this young man? You ain't grave robbing these poor souls now are ya?" she asked pointing to the skeleton,

"Sorry to bother you mam, and no, this is my brother, he died along time ago, I have just discovered his body in the old building near this church, and would like to bury him if you don't mind, with my family" Bill said, the ghost looked sad "Poor boy, we will help"

"We?"

The ghost waved her hand and a few other ghosts came up.

"His name?" asked one who held a chisel "William 'Will' Pines, he was my twin, he died aged 14" Bill choked.

"My my young man, but this skeleton looks old, decades even" pointed out one,

"Me and my brother were part of a demon ritual a satanic group did around 16th century, he didn't survive, I did, I kinda lost myself for awhile, years even, iv only just come back"

The ghost nodded.

A ghost wearing an old prison uniform helped him dig the grave, the one with the chisel presented him with a gravestone, his brothers name carved in cursive "Oh, its beautifully done, thank you" Bill said clutching the large stone with tears in his eyes.

The ghost nodded happily with a huge smile clutching the chisel in both hands "Glad you love it, iv had my entire afterlife to practice"

With Dippers help he placed his brother carefully in the grave.

Another ghost came up to him a look of surprise and shock on his face

"Bill!?"

"Father Tom!?"

"Your, your alive!?"

"Yeah"

"But how? Don't tell me you used dark magic boy?"

"No, a satanic group kidnapped us and tried to turn us into demons, they killed my brother but not me, I'm back now, my family are helping me settle back into a some what normal life"

"I see that young man, the Pines of today are good, we all prayed for you two when you went missing"

"Thank you that's so good to hear"

"So this is your brother" the ghost said looking at the grave with a sad look, Bill nodded "Could you do the ceremony?"

"I would be honored William, I always wondered why your mother gave you both the same name, you were both one and the same person, William, it fits"

Bill chuckled "Yeah well we were twins, she only ever called us William when we were in trouble, otherwise it was just Bill and Will"

Dipper smiled "Cute"

Father Tom hovered over the grave, with his hand the pile of dirt lifted up and was placed gently onto Wills body, words were said, silence was set. Dipper comforted Bill with a hand on his shoulder. he shed no tears, he just stood there, mouth a thin line, eyes never leaving the grave of his twin.

The ghosts stood side by side, there heads bowed in respect. A young ghost girl presented him with some flowers "For your brother Billy, I hope you like them" they were purple sweet pea flowers, Will would of loved them,

"Thank you" Bill said taking them with a nod, he placed them carefully on the grave, "I always thought that if he had survived he would have been like me only blue, a blue triangle" Bill sniffed "Its hard Dipper, losing your twin. Don't lose Mabel, keep her close"

"I will Bill, I promise"

Bill turned to Father Tom,

"Thank you Father Tom, now my brother can finally be at rest"

"Good luck with your second chance William, I do hope you make it count" he said,

"Yes sir, thank you"
