"Dad!" Emily practically launched herself to her dad after she barged in to the house and spotted her dad.
Emily's dad chuckled and then hugged her daughter back. "It's nice to see you Emmy!"
Emily let go of her dad and smiling brightly. "How have you been dad?"
"I'm good, the unit gave me extra vacation. So, I will be here for a long time."
Emily's eyes brighten. "Really? How long are you going to stay?"
"Probably over 3 months, I don't know. It could be longer."
"How come? You didn't get into trouble, did you?" Emily asked.
Her dad shrugged it off. Pretend to smiled to her daughter. "Of course not honey. I told you they gave me extra vacation, but I got works that I had to do at home."
"What kind of jobs? Paperwork?" Emily asked again.
Pam entered the living room and saw Emily all over her dad already and asking him all of the questions she had in mind. She chuckled slightly. "Hey, Emily, have your dad breathe a little already, you've been asking too much questions for him already. He will tell you later, okay?"
Emily smiled sheepishly. "Sorry dad, I'm just happy to see you."
Wayne shook Emily's head lightly and smiled. "It's fine honey. Okay, how about now we watch TV and tell me about your school?"
"Sure." Emily smiled happily as she and her father sat down on the couch. Her father then flipped the channel to some football games.
"So, how is your life while I'm gone?" Wayne asked his daughter.
"Pretty good dad, I got better grades and I learnt a few new things." Emily told him excitedly.
"Oh yeah? How so?"
Emily pursed her lips. "Well, there is this new girl in town, she come off a little shy at first but she turns out pretty good person."
"Oh yeah? What else?"
"Hmm, she taught me how to ride a skateboard and have been a really good company to me. Her grades are also pretty up, so sometimes I kinda learnt from her. Oh! She's on the swim team too!" Emily said excitedly.
Wayne smiled. "She must be a really nice girl. What is her name?"
"Paige McCullers." Emily told her happily.
Wayne's eyes widened a little, but he quickly dropped it and smiled again. "Well, she is pretty nice. When do I get to meet her?"
Emily's eyes widen in an instant when she knew what her father's mean. "Dad! She wasn't like that….. We are just friends…"
"Friends didn't tell each other like that. I knew you must have something going on towards her, am I correct?"
Emily pursed her lips and then swatted her dad's arms. "Dad! I told you is not like that."
Wayne chuckled. "Alright, I'll let it drop for now, but you have to know that I'm watching you little bear."
Emily pouted slightly but then chuckled along with her father before their eyes were back on the TV. Although, Wayne's face become neutral at the mention of Paige's name, she is a friend of her daughter is quite a barrier to his mission but he won't going to let it bother him for now.
Pam then called them both when it's time to dinner, they ate while Wayne trying to keep a light conversation. After they finished their dinner, Wayne excused himself to go the garage to grab something.
Wayne quickly looked over at a pile of boxes on the garage. He quickly dug into them and found what he is looking for, an old small briefcase which its color already drained and left some rusty on the metal. He blew the dust and then unlocked the codes. When he opened it, it turns out that the briefcase is indeed a computer that military uses. He checked it if it still functioning and he smiled a little when it does.
When he realized that he had been in the garage too long. He quickly turned the computer off and locked it again before putting it back on the boxes. He quickly went upstairs and then went to his bedroom.
Morning wasn't usually Paige's favorites, but today the sound of her beeping phone keep trying to wake her up. She grabbed her phone and mumbled something about time. When she looked at the phone, her eyes opened instantly when she noticed that Emily texted her good morning and asked her to go to a local bookstore together. Paige instantly typed her response as a yes and then quickly got up from her bed and running to her bathroom.
After she took a shower, she put on her plaid T-shirt and her jeans before grabbing her wallet and then running all the way downstairs. Her aunt's head snapped eye when she saw her niece running like a crazy person.
"Hey Paige, what's the rush?" Her aunt asked.
Paige answered it easily but her face smiling. "Nothing, just a good weekend start."
"Well, don't forget to grab your breakfast. I don't want you to leave with an empty stomach."
"Of course I won't miss it. Err, what are you making?" Paige walked to her aunt and saw a brief or steamed beef on the pan.
"Just steamed beef, I haven't go to the store for a while. So, I decided this is a best shot for now. Is it okay with you?" Her aunt asked.
"Of course, I'll eat whatever you make." Paige smiled.
Her aunt smiled "Okay then sit tight."
After eating her breakfast, Paige said her bye to her aunts and walked quickly to the front door only to be stopped by her aunt.
"You don't bring your skateboard?" Her aunt asked, a little confused.
"Nope, just want to take a little walk." Paige said.
"Okay then, be careful!"
"I will!" Paige shouted before closing the door.
The reason why Paige didn't want to bring her skateboard because she want to test how fast she is by running from her house to the nearest woods. She took a deep breath before focusing her mind.
After like ten seconds she quickly stepped and then her speed took over her pace. She was running like super-fast!
Paige stopped when she realized that she arrived at the woods. She looked at her watch and realized that it took her 12 seconds to get here. While usually normal people took 15 minutes. Paige chuckled and shook her head slightly. This is a real big deal.
Her thought interrupted when her phone buzzing on her pocket. Pulling it out, realizing it was Emily. She asked where she is. Paige knew that Emily still in front of her house by now and it will take her 10 minutes to get there. So, she smirked a little and then prepared to run again.
5 Seconds later, she found herself breathing hard near the Fields' tree, that come when her adrenaline rushed out when she realized that she almost hit a tree after she saw Emily's face on her porch. Paige gathered herself quickly and then walked to the porch where Emily waited for her.
"Hey! Sorry I was late!" Paige announced herself.
Emily looked up and smiled. "It's okay." She frowned when she noticed that Paige still breathing hard. "Why are you looked like you hyperventilating?"
Paige smiled a little. "I ran here."
Emily's eyes widen slightly. "You ran? Where is your skateboard?"
"Left it at home. I came here quickly." Paige said while trying so hard to breathe normal. She definitely had more to train herself.
"Damn, I was going to show my dad how much you are good at skateboarding so he can buy me a board too." Emily chuckled.
"Really? Well, forgot that I always had this good charm lurking at me. " Paige laughed.
The front door suddenly opened, revealing Emily's dad with her blue navy shirt and her green long pants.
"Emmy, this is your wallet, you left it behind."
"Oh my god, I forgot this. Thank you so much dad!"
Wayne smiled. "You're welcome, just don't forget it again." He turned his face towards the girl in front of their porch. "And who is this Emmy?"
"Oh! Yeah, I forgot. Dad this my friend Paige McCullers."
