Hello, lovelies. I've returned. This time, with an actual chapter.
First off, I just want to say thank you to everyone who reviewed saying to take all the time I need. All of you guys are amazing and I couldn't ask for better people to be reading my fic so just thank you so much for understanding and letting me deal with what I have to deal with. You guys are all amazing. *hugs*
Second off, I have recently realized that school starts up again for me soon and once that dreaded place starts going again I will have even less time to write for all you amazing people, and I'm hoping to try nanowrimo this year, so I'm sorry to say it, but three months in between each chapter may be how it is for now.
I really hope school won't start kicking my ass and I'll be able to update more frequently, but anyways. You guys have waited long enough. Enjoy this chapter, everyone :)
Disclaimer: I own nothing 'cause I'm poor. I mean, I can't even afford pencils.
Jeff woke up with a pounding headache already starting to form. He could barely remember what had happened the previous night, he could definitely remember the alcohol but most of what happened was a blur. Jeff started to turn his body and that's when he realized he wasn't alone in his bed.
His eyes opened in an instant and he regretted that the moment it happened. Jeff brought a hand up to cover his face and block the light that was coming in from the window on the opposite side of the room from reaching his eyes. He groaned and pressed his hand to his temple, trying to ease the pounding that would surely be there for most of the morning. Jeff opened his eyes the slightest bit, his curiosity getting the better of him, and looked down to the face of the guy beside him.
Jeff easily placed the face to be Nick's. He smacked himself mentally for getting drunk when they had just started talking again, realizing last night may have not been the best idea he'd ever had. Jeff relaxed some once it clued into him that he was still wearing his clothes so things must have not been too insane, but the fact that they were sharing a bed confused him to no end. If Nick had been too drunk to drive he could have easily slept in the spare bed that nobody ever slept in, but he had stayed the night in Jeff's bed. With Jeff. When Nick had a boyfriend.
Jeff shook his head and cleared his mind, already in too much pain to try and figure anything out. He watched Nick for a minute or two as his chest slowly rose up and down from the even breaths of him sleeping. The blonde let out a small sigh before closing his eyes and relaxing to try and go back to sleep. Obviously Nick was okay with sleeping in the same bed as him so he figured he shouldn't make a big deal about it.
Shortly after Jeff had fallen back to sleep, Nick woke up with a stretch, making his hand run into Jeff's face. Jeff made a noise as he brought his hand up to wack Nick's hand away, the brunette already moving his hand away.
"Watch it." Jeff snapped at Nick, his mind still hurting from the alcohol.
Nick groaned and rolled over so he was facing Jeff and the blonde was facing him in return. "Good morning, princess." He smiled at his friend, knowing that he himself could handle his liquor but after drinking as much as Jeff did, he would have not been okay. Nick could tell Jeff was going to have a rough day, he was sure the blonde was thankful it was a Saturday and he had no classes to attend.
Jeff's eyes still weren't open but he could feel Nick looking at him, making him want to open his eyes to look at the brunette. The blonde knew if he tried to open them the sun would instantly start to irritate him but he also knew that seeing Nick's face would be totally worth it. His eyes flickered open slowly, the pain instantly coming back, and he wished he could just lay down and sleep forever.
Nick's smile widened some with a small laugh as the blonde's face scrunched up and he tried to block the sun by bringing his arm up to rest over his eyes. "Damn it, Duval. Why did you let me get so drunk last night?" Nick's laughter grew and Jeff groaned as the noise hit his ears. On any other day Jeff would have been delighted to hear Nick's laughter but at this moment all it was making him want to do was hide his head under a rock and never come back out.
Nick's laughter died down some and he let out a content sigh at seeing his best friend in this state. "Oh, no, no, Jeff. You drank as much as you wanted to and I just wasn't going to stop you." Nick smiled at the blonde and sat up in the bed, his curiosity towards the time getting the better of him. He turned to look at the clock on the bedside table and noticed his phone was sitting beside it. The brunette saw the time and reached for his phone as the blonde stayed where he was, trying to avoid the nauseous feeling that was starting to arise.
"Shit." Nick said almost inaudibly when he saw that, first, his phone was almost dead, and second, he had numerous texts and missed calls from Lucas. He knew this wouldn't mean anything good for him. The brunette let out a sigh as he stood up and walked across the room to call Lucas back. Talking to his pissed off boyfriend was definitely not what he wanted to do first thing in the morning but he knew that it would be easier to get it over and done with now than have him even angrier in a few hours.
Jeff stayed where he was on the bed, curled up in the heap of blankets and trying to hide himself from all source of light. Nick stole a quick glance at his friend to make sure he wasn't going to disturb him, realizing quickly the blonde was already quite out of it. The brunette put the phone to his ear and listened as it didn't even ring once fully before he heard Lucas' angry voice through the phone.
"What the hell were you thinking last night, Nick?"
Nick let out a sigh and pulled the phone away from his ear some, Lucas' voice being too loud and shrill for the hours of the day. "What, no good morning?"
"It's 11 am, Nick. And that's for me. You're three hours ahead of my time."
Nick's eyes widened some when it settled in just how late they had slept. He could understand why Lucas had been so concerned, now. "I'm going to take that as a no." Nick let out another small sigh as he walked quietly over to the window and looked outside while letting in as little light as possible. "What do you need from me, Luke?"
"Well, I would like my boyfriend back, but I have a feeling that's not going to happen."
Nick scoffed at Lucas' reply, shaking his head some at what was being said. "You're insane, you know that? I've been here for a few days and already we're fighting. How did we ever think this was going to work out?" Before Nick could stop himself from saying it it was already said and the silence he heard on the other end reassured him of his slip up.
"Are you saying you want to break up?"
Nick closed his eyes and leaned his head against the wall beside the window, "I don't know what I'm saying, Luke. Maybe we should just talk later, or something." Nick couldn't bring himself to apologize for what he had said because it was the truth. It had only been 2 days and already the only communication between the two boys was fighting. What would 2 weeks bring the boys? Definitely not happiness, which was something he could be having with Jeff.
Nick's eyes flew open at the thought and he lifted his head in an instant, hoping to god that thought had stayed in his mind and wasn't spoken aloud.
"Fine. Go enjoy your best friend."
Nick held the phone to his ear for another minute after Lucas had hung up on him, not believing what had just happened. Did he really just tell his boyfriend he would be more happy with his best friend? Nick didn't know if that had actually just happened or if he had only thought it, but either way it made him question what was happening with Lucas and him.
The brunette sighed as he dropped his arm to his side, putting his phone into his jean pockets. Jeff and I really need to talk, Nick thought. He walked towards the blonde's bed, taking his time to allow the other boy as much rest as possible. Usually he'd be all over just waking him up and being an ass about it, but something was holding him back from doing that this time. He tried not to think about it but when the tiniest bit of sunlight was sneaking into the room and it was lighting up the blonde's hair, all he could think about was how gorgeous his best friend was, and how completely blind he must be to have not noticed this before.
He shook his head to get rid of that thought. Even though him and Lucas were on the rocks that didn't mean he could think about cheating on him, even if he had already. Nick let out a sigh at his thoughts, definitely not looking forward to that conversation with his boyfriend-if he could still call him that.
Nick made his way to the other boy's bed, sitting down beside the blonde gently. He heard the other boy let out a groan when the bed dipped under his weight, a smile playing at his lips from the taller boy's noise. He didn't know what he was going to say to the blonde, but he knew they had to talk about last night. Nick just didn't know exactly how he was going to question Jeff.
He placed his hand gently on Jeff's shoulder, preparing to wake him up, but pausing when he heard noise coming from outside the dorm room. He looked to the door curiously, recognition hitting when he realized he heard Blaine's voice.
"I don't know what's going on, Kurt. I just want to go make sure Jeff is okay."
"Are you sure it's okay to just go over like this?"
"You didn't see them last night, okay? I just want to make sure he's okay."
"Fine, Blaine, but I just want to make sure you know what you're doing."
"Hey, it's okay. He's one of my best friends, I don't think he'll mind too much that we're dropping by."
As soon as the voices stopped, Nick heard a knock on the door. He looked to Jeff and where his hand was still sitting on the boy, wondering if he should try and wake him for the guests or just tell the two boys at the door that the blonde was still asleep. Now that he was aware of the time he thought it might be a good idea to wake the other boy, but he couldn't bring himself to do it. Not yet.
Nick stood from the bed as carefully as he could before walking towards the door. He opened it and slipped outside before any words could be spoke from any of the three boys. "What's up, Blaine?"
Blaine looked away from Kurt-who he had been sending a reassuring smile to-when he heard Nick's voice. "Oh. Hi, Nick." Blaine smiled at the other boy, making it obvious that he had been up for a while and had already had his fair share of caffeine. "We were just stopping by to see if Jeff was okay. We noticed how much you guys drank last night, and we were wondering if you needed anything."
As Blaine spoke, Nick kept his ears on Blaine but his eyes on Kurt. He didn't know what he thought about Kurt yet, but he could tell by the bitch face he was sporting that the taller boy didn't like Nick very much. Nick looked away when he realized Blaine had stopped talking and was looking for a reply. But Nick didn't know for sure if they needed anything. He was aware that he was fine, but Jeff could be a different story.
Nick opened his mouth to speak but the noise they all heard coming from inside the dorm alarmed them all. "Hold that thought." he said calmly before opening the door, this time leaving it open for Blaine and Kurt to follow him if they decided to, and walking inside the room. What he found was not a pleasing sight and he wished he would've thought enough to leave a bucket beside the bed for the blonde before leaving the room.
Nick was instantly at the other boy's side, avoiding the mess that was currently on the floor beside the bed. He held Jeff up steady as he leaned over the edge of the bed, worried he was still going to be sick more even though his stomach was now emptied onto the floor.
Neither of the boys on the bed noticed Kurt and Blaine standing just inside the door, watching as Nick took care of the boy who'd been in love with him for so long. Blaine sent Kurt a knowing look before nodding his head towards the door. "Come on, it seems Nick has things under control here."
Kurt looked Nick and Jeff over for a moment, unsure if he was okay with leaving them there alone, but decided he didn't want to go against Blaine. Especially since he'd known both boys much longer than Kurt had. The taller boy turned and walked out of the room without a word, Blaine letting out a small sigh before smiling at Nick and walking out the door to follow Kurt. He knew Nick hadn't seen his smile, but he was just happy that things were starting to be better for the blonde teen.
Nick heard the door click from across the room and that's when he realized the other two boys had left. He didn't waste time thinking about it, turning back to Jeff instantly to make sure he was okay. The brunette started rubbing the blonde's back gently to try and calm him down. "Shh, it's okay. Be sick if you need to, Jeff. It'll make you feel better."
Before Nick could finish what he was saying Jeff was retching violently towards the floor again. The brunette started rubbing the other boy's back again, making calming noises and trying to avoid thinking about what Jeff was doing. Sometimes Nick had a weak stomach and he was hoping that at this time it would stay that Jeff was the only one being sick.
Jeff stopped after a few more moments, making Nick, and his stomach contents, happy. He helped the blonde sit up properly, his pale face becoming very visible to the brunette. "God, Jeff. You look awful."
Jeff made a pained laugh as he looked to Nick with a sad smile, "And you're supposed to be a model?" Nick laughed at what Jeff said, mainly because he was happy the blonde wasn't too sick to be making jokes.
"Shut up, blondie." Nick smiled at Jeff as he helped the blonde lay back down in bed. "You're not going anywhere today, okay? Just stay here, I'll clean up then I'll set up a movie or something for you to watch."
Jeff started shaking his head and tried to sit up in the bed, "No, Nicky, I'm fine. I just need some tylenol or something. I'm sure I'll be okay."
Nick stopped the blonde from moving, pushing him back on the bed gently. "I swear to god, Jeff, if you try to move from this bed I will tie you to it. And not in the enjoyable way." Nick smiled at Jeff, standing up and staying where he was to make sure Jeff wasn't going to move this time.
Once he was happy with the blonde not moving, he walked to the bathroom and grabbed a few towels to clean up the mess on the floor. Nick was suddenly very happy they were at a rich prep school that could afford hardwood floors, just the thought of cleaning this up off of carpet had him shiver.
After Nick had the floor all cleaned up he went back into the main room ready to put on a movie for Jeff, but seeing the blonde was already curled up in the blankets on his bed. He looked the other boy over for a moment, contemplating whether or not he should wake him, but decided against it. Sure it was going to screw Jeff's sleeping habits up completely, and their talk would have to wait, but after he had been sick Nick couldn't blame him for being tired.
Instead he walked over to Jeff's bed, after making sure a bucket was set out on the floor, and sat down so he was leaning back against the headboard. In an instant Jeff had moved himself closer towards Nick and the brunette had no complaints about it. Part of his brain was poking at him, saying 'What about Lucas, you dunce?' but right now Nick didn't want to think about anything but him and the blonde.
He pulled Jeff in closer to him, wanting to protect him from the world and anything that would try to harm him, wrapping his arm around the blonde's shoulders. Nick looked down to the other boy, biting his lip as a thought crossed his mind. Nobody was there to stop him, and he wasn't going to go run and tell anybody, so he leaned down and pressed a soft kiss to the top of Jeff's head.
Nick knew for sure that if anyone wanted to get to Jeff, they'd have to go through him first, and that's how things were going to stay.
I really hope you enjoyed this chapter, I'm actually enjoying where this is headed and I have more ideas now so chapters may come out quicker just from that alone, but please don't hold me to anything.
Anyways, thank you for sticking with me for so long and if you could review with how you think it's going that would be much appreciated.
Thank's for reading guys. Until next time x
