A/N: Hopefully soon, my entries won't be spaced so far apart. I have... one more term paper then I am DONE with school! :) Then only work and the real world awaits :D There will be references in the next chapter or so to Wiress' time in the Capitol in Large Eyes Crying, but hopefully I explain them well enough for those that don't want to read the whole prequel to this story :)
"Beetee -" Wiress whispered kissing Beetee's cheeks before peppering kisses down his throat and onto his collarbones.
"Wiress -" Beetee gasped before someone knocked on the door.
"Oh! They're still asleep!" Olivia squealed as the lights came on in the shed. "How did the lights come on? I don't even remember flicking a switch -"
"The sensors on the inside doorframe -" Wiress explained sleepily as she pressed her face against Beetee's nightshirt.
"What was that, dear?" A member of the prep team asked. He was greeted by a large eye popping out from under the blankets before Beetee yelped and sat up in bed.
"Do you mind?" Beetee growled as he took his glasses from the nightstand. "We set the alarm to go off at 8:30."
"Beetee - they probably have keys since it's the same lock as your old - " Wiress began.
"My old house, I know." Beetee muttered crossly. "Wait - WHAT THE WIRES, You're not supposed to be here until one!" He yelled.
"Oh, we wanted to get a head start on things!" Olivia laughed. "See, we didn't know if you had a proper sink and bath here to clean you up, so we'll just do our prep-work on the train!"
"Can we grab breakfast?" Wiress asked knowing that Beetee's bad mood was partially explained due to his lack of breakfast. "Beetee usually eats -"
"Yes, and then hurry and meet us outside!" Olivia directed.
"Well, I'm not going to the train station in my pajamas." Beetee said before Wiress giggled from the bed. Beetee was wearing blue and white checkered pajama bottoms and a green and white striped shirt.
"I told you, you grabbed different ones from your pile -" Wiress giggled before wrapping a soft magenta bathrobe over her spagetti strapped pink floral nightgown. "We do need to also pick out our clothes and tidy." Wiress said. "So if you please -"
"We'll only need fifteen minutes." Beetee said. Olivia beckoned the prep team to leave the shed. "I forgot how annoying Capitolites are." Beetee seethed. As soon as the Capitolites left the shed, Beetee went to the fridge and ate his muffin he had bought at the bakery in one gulp. Eating her muffin a bit more daintily, Wiress got her notebooks ready before dressing in a dark green dress and dark purple sweater with two rows of white beads along the collar. Beetee wore grey slacks and a red button up shirt. As engineers, they chose clothes based on practicality versus fashion. After collecting their sketchbooks and notebooks, they met the prep team outside the shed.
"Those will do, I guess." Olivia said wrinkling her nose at the plain but nicely dressed inventors. "Come then." Beetee and Wiress squeezed eachother's hands reassuringly as they walked a short distance to the train station.
Closing her eyes, Wiress shivered and recited pi to herself as she soaked in a scented bath in the remake car. "Darling, you shouldn't be cold!" One of the stylists chided. "The bath is quite warm."
"No - it's just -" Wiress began before blinking back tears remembering how Kevius had hired a prep team to prepare Wiress for 'special' dates with him or his friends.
"Oh, you were Kevius' little lady, weren't you? I remember dressing you for that party -" A woman dyed in silver laughed. "I told him I specialized in District Three." Scrunching her eyes closed, Wiress buried her face in her hands. "Do you still miss him?"
"No!" Wiress screamed. "NOOOO!" She wailed as memories surfaced from her imprisonment as a Capitol man's wife five years ago.
"Wiress!" Beetee gasped. Wiress looked toward the door where she heard Beetee's voice.
"Wait - she's still being prepped!" Olivia yelped before the door burst open.
"Wiress! WHAT ARE YOU DOING TO HER?" Beetee screamed. "I heard her yell!"
"I - bad memories, Beetee -" Wiress whispered. Pulling off his shirt and stepping out of his shoes, socks, and pants, Beetee crossed the room in two or three steps before lowering himself into the bath. "About - them -" Wiress sobbed as Beetee held her.
"Wiress, they won't - they can't -" Beetee whispered, his mind flashing back to his twenty one year old self holding the brave intelligent thirteen year old girl that had been broken by Capitol men for six months.
"I - before the games - I remember - being nervous." Wiress stammered.
"Yes, but you made it back, dearie. Don't worry. Now, do you want your boyfriend to stay?" Wiress nodded. "You know, you two were on Panem Weekly when someone from the patent office sent a picture of you two walking out of the technology building hand in hand in your district - you're such a lovely couple!" Wiress smiled knowing that the Capitol was aware that she belonged to and was in love with Beetee. She chuckled and kissed Beetee's blushing cheek. After finishing her bath, Beetee and her new stylist helped her into an emerald green evening dress. They pinned up her hair in an updo just as dinner was ready to be served.
"Now, you're eating dinner on the train because we'll get to the Capitol in time for your first sponsor party!" Olivia announced. Wiress nodded as she took a bite of her blueberry tart. Reaching for her hand under the table, Beetee gave her hand a squeeze as he saw Wiress brush a tear from her eye. Her craving for blueberries was, in retrospect, one of the signs that she was carrying Terrimax. Sometimes Beetee still thought of Wiress' premature son that was a product of the capitol man he murdered. If he had lived, they would have a four and a half year old running around the small shed that they would teach, spoil, and love. "Do you miss them, dear?"
"I - I don't know." Wiress whispered truthfully. During her entire six month imprisonment in the Capitol as punishment for her and Beetee's antics during her victory tour, Wiress would have traded the lavish Capitol parties and the luxurious apartment of the Capitol man who was her forced husband to be back in Victor's Village eating simple meals cooked by her parents or working on inventions in her or Beetee's basement. "I missed Beetee. I wish I could've gone to those parties with him."
"Well, now you can, dear!" Olivia laughed. "Cheer up, darling, we're nearly there!" The table was cleared off moments before Beetee and Wiress were looking at the Capitol skyline through the windows. Sooner than the two inventors would have liked, the train pulled up to the Capitol station. "We're here! Oh, my goodness, Oh my Panem, we're here!" Olivia gushed happily. Wiress smiled as she felt Beetee's hand wrap around hers. Lacing her fingers with his, she felt a familiar sense of deja vu of the Capitol imprisoning her, yet she gave Olivia a smile.
"We're ready, Olivia." She said simply as Olivia led them to the doors. No matter what happened, Wiress would not let the Capitol take her love away this time, and she knew he would protect her. This time, they would leave the Capitol together or not at all.
