"What?" I whispered.

"Ray, I love you. I want you to come with me, I want you to commit to the life with me, you can't be like Neela, running around with those cowboys and making a fool of yourself."

"I am just a kid, I don't know what you want from me."

Morimoto gripped me tightly and pulled me so I was only a step away from him. "Listen to me closely," he said, staring so deeply into my eyes I felt like he could see through me. "I want you to be an equal with me, but that means you have to act like it all the time, no more being a kid or messing around, we can run this city together. I will love you and take care of you."

"You will never lay a hand on me again," this was not a question.

"I will be rough," his grip tightened around me, " and I will be aggressive," he shook me slightly, "but I will never purposely harm you again." He released me all together.

I grabbed his hands and put them around me. "Don't let go of me," I whispered. He tightened his arms around me. "I'm scared," I admitted.

"You never have to be scared again."

"Neela, and Sean… and Han are my friends." I watched him tense at the mention of Han's name. I surprised myself that I included Han in my last statement. I could tell he was frustrated with all my talking and questioning.

"Ray, you will have to choose," he pushed me away from him. "Sooner than you may think, something is going to happen and everyone will be forced to choose."

"What?" I asked confused.

"In a week there will be a race, right here," he said gesturing to the mountain "Takashi and Sean will race, and the loser will be banished… you will stay with me or you will become nothing; all your friend will be gone and you will just be another outsider in Tokyo."

Clearly all the sweet loving moments were past us. I felt like my entire body was numb, all this information was too much to process. I wanted to ask where Han fit in, in all of this but I knew I would find out and really I didn't know why I cared. I just looked at him and found him looking back at me, very sternly.

"Take me home?" I asked. He exhaled very loudly, it sounded like in defeat.

"Wait here," he ordered. I wrapped my arms around myself to try and stay warm. He walked over to his car and came back with a sweatshirt in his hands. He handed it to me and crossed his arms waiting.

"Thank you," I whispered, pulling the sweatshirt over my every exposed outfit.

"I don't like when you dress like that," he mumbled, and then headed back to the car.

I didn't know what to do or what to say. I also seemed to lose the ability to move my legs. I just stood there more confused than I had ever been in my entire life.

"Coming?" he asked, standing with his drivers door open, getting ready to duck in. I nodded, more to myself than him and propelled myself forward. He watched me the entire time and looked at me more intensity when my hand lingered on the handle.

"I thought you wanted to go home," he said, clearly aggravated with how this night had gone.

"I want to drive," I stuttered, unsure of the words as I said them.

"What did you say?" he asked, walking over to me now.

"I want you to teach me how to drive," I said, the words ending in a whisper.

"You know how to drive," he replied.

"I want to drive fast cars like you, I want to drive a stick and I want you to teach me."

"That is what you got from tonight?" he asked. "From everything I have said you have concluded that you want to learn to drive?"

"And drift," I added.

It surprised me when he laughed. "You want to learn to drift?" he asked.

"Yeah… I do." He shook his head and had a grin on his face as he walked back to the driver's side. "Sure Ray, I'll teach you."

"Morimoto…" I said, before he ducked into the car.

"What?" He was clearly getting annoyed with me.

"I… I can't be a bad guy, I don't want to be bad."

He put his head on the roof of the car. I waited a minute before he looked back up at me. He tapped his finger on the roof before out of nowhere banged it, causing me to jump. I waited expecting more from him, but he simply stared at me.

"Get in the car," he ordered.

The ride back was dead silent. There were so many things I wanted to say but I was too scared too talk. I starred out the window and watched as the city lights blurred around me. One of the most powerful men I had ever met was in love with me and wanted me to join him. He offered me an equal part in his life, it was what I had asked for but suddenly it didn't seem like it was something I was capable of. I couldn't expect him to change though, but could I expect myself to move on? I glanced over to Morimoto and he was shifting and seemingly staring into emptiness, the look on his face was blank, it almost looked like he was bored.

Sooner than I would have thought possible we were outside my house. I waited for Morimoto to look at me or say something but he continued to look straight ahead. It didn't feel right to leave without saying something; I didn't even know where this left us.

"Thank you," I stared, feeling very awkward "for the sweatshirt." He simply nodded, still looking straight. I opened my door and started to get out before looking back at him again.

"Morimoto," I whispered.

"What Ray."

"Will you come back to school?" I asked. "I miss you all the time… and it makes me sad not seeing you." I choked back tears, and he finally looked over at me.

"I miss you too Ray." He turned back to looking at the street in front of him before smashing his hands against the steering wheel. "Get out," he ordered. I jumped out of the car and as soon as I closed the door he took off down the street.

I stood there for longer than I should have, watching where his car was just moments before. I had prepared myself for a lot of drama to happen this night, but nothing like this. I thought my heart had stopped when I saw a fast car headed towards me, but as it got closer I realized it wasn't Morimoto's. I stepped back allowing the car to stop in front of me. The door opened and Takashi got out.

"It's not safe to be standing in the street, in the middle of the nigh," he said.

"Sorry." I looked at the ground before meeting his gaze. "What are you doing here?" I asked.

"I need you to come with me."

"Why?" I asked. He immediately got annoyed, I rolled my eyes internally, like would I ever learn to stop asking these men questions.

"You should go inside and change into something more… comfortable." I could tell he was trying to find a nice way of saying my oversized sweatshirt and scandalous outfit underneath was not acceptable.

"Okay, are jeans and a sweatshirt okay?" I asked, having no clue where this night was going to take me.

"That is fine, hurry I don't have all night," he growled. I walked inside me house. My dad had stopped waiting up for me; he had really stopped talking to me all together these days. I think he knew I was into some kind of trouble and with how moody I had been and all the late nights I was gone he had really just stopped trying. I opened my closet and put on black jeans and a blue Nike long sleeves running shirt so I didn't look so messy. I walked out to find him waiting for me.

"Lets go, Kamata is not a patient man."
