So, yeah! I personally thank all of you! I hope I didn't miss anyone and as you would have all guessed, the title of this chapter I got from the song I'm obsessed currently, Diamonds by Rihanna. I just love that song~ I know, too old and too old fashioned me but I just love it! And also, this story is currently going through some darkness/angst, so just hold on. It will all clear up, okay~? :D

And I know it's freaking short but I just want to emphasize Meiko's importance here~ Hahaha...AND-I don't know if there would be a happy ending for Luka and Kaito. Maybe...there won't be~ WAAA! /slap Anyways, enjoy and don't forget to review! :D

Chapter 10

Diamonds in the Sky

It was nearly two days since the whole drama and somehow, the news didn't reach my parents' ears. They were instead busy trying to get me ready for the wedding which I have now found out will be held a month from now on. I sighed to myself as I laid on my bed tiredly. I guess you could say that I was also glad that somehow, this whole Meiko thing had turned up. It was like a warning sign for me. To be aware of what will be happening if I were to marry Kaito.

I looked at the ticking alarm clock beside me and noticed how it was almost noon. Kaito hasn't called neither did he tried to reach me. And it was a good thing he didn't because I wouldn't want to talk to him anyways. I didn't want to even look at him. Somehow, I felt a bit of pity for Meiko. She was impregnated with a kid and she was left all alone, only forced to abort the child. That wasn't how I want if I were Kaito I would be somehow scared, yes, I admit, I would be scared but I wouldn't go to the extent of making sure I would kill that innocent living. How could Kaito even think such a thing?

It was a huge sin to even think of killing someone and Kaito, he so effortlessly told Meiko to abort it! Of course she would go mad and aim it at me! Maybe, this was it. Maybe he was meant to be with Meiko after all. I smiled bitterly at that before I heard someone knocking on my door. I sighed when I saw it was that silver headed dude I saw at the company two days ago. I slowly sat up on my bed and glared at him, even though he looked scared and ready to walk out any moment.

"Luka..." he slowly spoke as I narrowed my eyes at him. "I just..."

"What are you doing here?" I barked at him as he took a step back in response.

"I'm here...regarding of your matter with Kaito-san," he said formally as I scoffed.

"Why did he send you? Too scared to see me in person?" I asked as Piko looked at me with a tight face.

"No...he didn't send me," he slowly said. "I just came here to...talk to you about...Meiko."

I snapped my head and looked at him at the mention of the name. Just then, it clicked to me. This guy, Piko, he seemed as if someone who knew more about Kaito's business world than he should be.

"Who are you?" I asked as he fidgeted.

"I'm his best friend," he said softly as I rolled my eyes at that statement.

"Lies, I know his best friend and I'm sure you aren't one of it," I said as he scowled immediately at that statement.

"I am," he tried protesting but suddenly looked away when he saw the look on my face. "Not."

I smirked at that in victory before he sighed in frustration. "But that doesn't mean I don't know what's going on. I know what happened and trust me at this, I was there when it happened."

I thinned my lips as I counter and balanced at what was happening. Should I even believe in him? But then, something in me nagged saying that this might be the closest I could ever get to the truth. Ever. "Go on," somehow, the other side of me won and Piko smiled a bit, even though there was something bitter underneath it.

"I...It started way back, about five to six years ago. It was when Kaito first met Meiko, a normal florist who works with flowers for a living," Piko started as I looked at him seriously. " Kaito wasn't always as confident as he was now. He was timid, shy and a little off a bit in places but overall, he was a good man. He didn't inherit his father's company yet at that time, in fact, he was still studying, last year before graduating in Business Degree. He met her once and he was hooked, that was his words when he spoke to me about it. Like I said, maybe I wasn't that close to him, I was more like a flatmate at that time. A dorm mate. But he could always tell me anything and I would keep it a secret, that was how I worked. Soon, he couldn't stop seeing her despite that his father found out about his secret meeting and defied him from associating with that woman. Kaito's father...he isn't what you think. He was more furious and he was a very angry man."

I felt my breath hitch at the words about Kaito's father as Piko looked at me deadly in the eyes, something like pain inserted in between as he spoke. "He alwaysdemanded more from Kaito, pressured him into being a cold hearted bastard that somehow you'll sometimes see. The pressure was high and to avoid Kaito from meeting Meiko, he decided on dates and marriage proposal but Meiko was the problem. So, one day, he...he burnt Meiko's only reason for surviving, the flower shop she inherited from her grandmother. Meiko was a wreck after that and so was Kaito, but things got worse when the father found out that they were now together more than ever. So, he decided to hire a man and well, that was it. The man had managed to successfully seduce Meiko away from Kaito, and breaking Kaito's trust on her until it turned into a huge problem. Those two broke up soon after and Kaito, even now, I'm sorry Luka but he still loved Meiko. Meiko was his freedom, and for Meiko, he was the only reason for living after what happened to her grandmother's flower shop."

I stayed silent as I tried to make sense of what he had said. "Kaito, he wasn't showered with riches. He had to work and earn for them and sometimes, when he would come back to the dorm late at night drunk, I could see the pain in his eyes when he talked about what his father had said. It hurts him and when he found out that he was to be married even after all those years and he looked at you, I guess he decided to try again. Even if you were young. But then, Meiko came back. Meiko, she came back and she's not evil, Luka. Just lost and depressed and angry that Kaito would leave her after all they had been through just because of a simple misunderstanding and now, when she was pregnant, she was even more hurt to find Kaito not acknowledging it."

Piko shook his head, unable to talk anymore as I stayed silent all the while. "So, you see. No matter how much you want to love Kaito, you need to be prepared that Meiko had always been his first and saviour and vice versa for her and you...no matter how much you try, cannot change that. That's all," he didn't stay much longer after that and he left, leaving me in my thoughts.

So, that was it? I had to leave him? Meiko had won? I sighed softly as I shook my head. This wasn't what I had been expecting. I needed to talk to him.
