xoxo Thanks a bunch to Song of Falling Feathers, Jay's Song, Crystal Drop and Maureenbb40 for reviewing!xoxo This is a kinda short chapter, so be prepared. R&R! Enjoy!
"Lily." a paw prods me gently. "Lily, wake up. Song and Summer want to show around you the mountains." Mountains?
My eyes slowly flutter open. The sun is beginning to peek over the horizon, glowing orange/pink clouds dapple the morning sky. I stretch slowly and turn to see who woke me up. It's a sleek black she-cat, who's name I think is Jay. I can't be completely sure. There are so many long names in the tribe that I can't remember all of them.
I follow the black she-cat towards Song's den. I shiver when I think of the dream I had earlier. Was it really just a dream? I push the thought out of my mind and attempt to focus.
As I enter the large and dark cave, Song hauls herself to her paws and pads towards me. She smiles at me.
"Hello Lily." She says calmly. She nods to Jay, who turns and pads out of Song's den. I sigh. They're all so formal around here.
"So, I assume Jay told you that Summer and I were going to show you around the mountain." Song mews, her clear voice echoing in the large cave, refracting off the dark walls. I nod.
"Yes, she did." I say quietly. The large cave amplified my voice so I didn't need to speak loudly.
"I wanted to take you at sunhigh, but Summer wanted to go earlier." Song says. I cock my head to the side.
"So when are we going?" I ask, confused.
"Now." Song leaps to her paws and races out of the den. I run after her carefully, still not used to the mountainous terrain.
We jump from ledge to ledge, careful not to slip and fall down the side of the mountain. I enjoyed the feeling of the wind rushing through my fur as I raced up the rocky terrain. Sharp stones pressed into the pads of my paws, but I didn't care. I ignored the pain and sprinted even faster. I stop when I reach a large ledge and finally dare to look down. I gasp.
The view is breath taking. A soft morning mist spreads like a cloak on the vast horizon, hills and valleys unfold before my eyes, spotting the scene with emerald green. The sun makes the clouds a soft paste colored pink. The sky is a light blue, splashed with a soft orange and bright pink. If only Blazeclaw were here.
"Are you sure you're not a tribe cat?" Summer asks, eyes glinting as she leaps up to the ledge besides me. I shake my head.
"No. I am a clan cat." I say boldly. Summer frowns and mumbles something like,
"It's a shame, you would've..." I ignore her and scan the stony mountainside for Song.
"Right behind you." A clear voice mews. I whirl around and see Song. She must have climbed ahead.
"So, do you like the view?" She asks gently. I nod.
"It's amazing. Were rarely ever get to see a good sunrise in the forest in ThunderClan." I murmur.
"Hey Song!" A voice chirps from up ahead. I turn my head and can faintly see the outline of two cats in the distance. Song seems to know who they are.
"Hello Rose. I can see you're out hunting with Stone. Not a surprise." Song says calmly. Rose blushes madly while Stone cocks his head to the side, confused.
"Rose has had crush on Stone since she was a kit." Summer whispers, just loud enough for me and Rose to hear.
"I do not." Rose mumbles under her breath. I smile, knowing how she felt. Then it struck me. If all the cats up here are so thin frail, why is Rose so... plump? My eyes widen when I realize it could only come down to two possibilities. Either she's eating more prey than the rest of her tribe, or she's expecting. Stone is probably the father. I open my mouth to say something, but decide to keep silent.
Rose sticks her paw into the crevice in a boulder and pulls out a few small birds. My stomach growls and I realize I haven't eaten anything in days. Rose turns and drops a piece of prey at my paws.
"Can you help us carry this back to camp?" She asks. I nod and clamp my jaws shut on the small bird. Slightly cold blood ran down my throat and my stomach growled again. I'm starving. I shake my head and restrain from taking a bite of piece of prey.
"Let's go." Rose says before speeding off the side of the mountain. I look down and gasp. I must be hundreds of feet above the ground. There's no possible way anyone could survive a fall like that.
"Lily! You coming or not?" Stone asks, his voice muffled. I gulp and sprint down, holding my breath.
I feel like I'm flying, the wind rushing through my creamy fur and bursts of adrenaline. I grin and sprint even faster.
Stone, Rose, Song, Summer and I all burst into camp. The first thing that hits me is the scent of smoke. I see Thorn ushering every one out of the campsite.
"Song! Summer!" Jay exclaims bounding up to us. "There's a fire, and it's heading our way!"
