Chapter Ten
"Let's go," Hollyleaf mewed excitedly.
"Hang on," Lionblaze said, "We can't just go barching in there, without coming up with some excuse for being in their territory, plus we don't even know which territory is which".
"Lionblaze is right," Jayfeather meowed, "We need to plan this out".
"Right, sorry I was just excited," Hollyleaf muttered, right now her heart was telling her to run all the way around the lake in search of her dream clan mates.
They might not even be real she told herself, and besides you won't be staying forever, just long enough to learn your history.
"Ok, so we find a Thunderclan patrol, we tell them we're from Dawnclan, Skyclan's neighbor, and say Jayfeather wandered off during a bad storm, we went searching for him, found him and all three of us got lost, and then we found some strange mountain cats who told us that there were clans here, so we went there, thinking they meant our home then were shocked and scared when we realized that it wasn't our home, how about that?" Hollyleaf asked, she had been thinking the story through for several days.
"How long have you been working on that Holly?' Jayfeather asked, surprised.
"Since we left," Hollyleaf replied.
"Then what?' Lionblaze asked.
"I don't know, we'll just have to figure it out," Jayfeather said, "Let's go and find that Thunderclan patrol."
"We don't even know what their scent is, how are we going to find them" Lionblaze said. Hollyleaf took a deep breathe and was about to tell her brothers about her strange dreams and how she knew Thunderclan scent like she knew Dawnclan scent, but Jayfeather beat her to it.
"I know Thunderclan scent from a Starclan cat named Bluestar who told me the prophecy," Jayfeather explained, standing up, "Now can we get going?' he said impatiently.
They headed down the slope and towards the lake.
"So you smell Thunderclan yet Jay?" Lionblaze asked, as they headed through the moor.
"No, Thunderclan territory's nearby though," Jayfeather said, "Bluestar showed me a little of the territory, and the moor's right next to it.".
"I smell cats coming, quick hide!" Hollyleaf hissed to her brothers. They all ducked underneath a gorse bush and flattened themselves to the ground when the heard voices approach.
Three cats came into view, two toms and a she cat.
"Hey Nightcloud, there's Thunderclan territory, let's go invade it and steal all their prey," one of the toms joked to the black she cat.
"Shut up Harespring, I still think we should have attacked them when we caught one of their apprentices on our territory," Nightcloud hissed.
"Are you two still apprentices or what, we're warriors on patrol so let's act like it," the third cat said. He was leading his companions.
"Ok fine Tornear," Harespring sighed.
"I have an idea Holly," Lionblaze whispered in her ear, his breath was warm.
"What?" Hollyleaf whispered back.
"Let's follow them, and maybe, just maybe they'll lead us straight to Thunderclan territory, if they are on patrol that is," Lionblaze whispered.
"Good idea Lion," Jayfeather whispered back, "Lead the way". Hollyleaf snuck out of the bush, with Lionblaze and Jayfeather just behind her. She followed the patrol cats by their voices, making sure to stay out of sight
They had only gone a couple of tail lengths when the familiar and comforting scent hit her.
"We're almost there," she breathed.
"Thunderclan," Jayfeather murmured, scenting it as well.
"Let go get caught," Lionblaze joked softly. What if they chase us out of their territory, what if they hate us, what if-these thought suddenly started racing through Hollyleaf's mind, and discouraged her, but not enough so, for the memory of her latest dream was fresh in her mind.
A little ways in front of them, the patrol had stopped and was scenting the area beside a stream.
"That must be the border," Lionblaze whispered, "Sorry Jayfeather, you're going to have to get wet."
"Great, wet paws, just what I wanted," Jayfeather muttered. They hid in another bush as the patrol headed back, away from the stream, then they slid out back into the open and headed towards the stream. They stopped just before it touched their paws, they stood side by side.
"Thunderclan, here we come," Hollyleaf meowed, and together they plunged into the stream and onto the other side, right into Thunderclan territory.
Sorry I haven't updated in forever, I got sidetracked and did a few other stories and forgot about this one, but don't worry, I'll start updating again.
