A/N: I AM ONCE AGAIN SO SO SO SORRY! I was on such a roll and then I just...poof. But the inconsistency is done! I've decided I'm not really going to follow along with the show storyline to a T but I will try and keep it somewhat similar. And while I'm writing this note I'd like to thank those of you who review and share your love for this story! I honestly don't know who Caroline is going to end up with, if its going to be Klaus, Elijah, both, or someone else completely. Hahaha.

Anyway on with the story!

A week had passed by since her run in with Elijah and Caroline couldn't get it out of her head. It brought both warm feelings and then pure anger. He'd snapped her neck! But she'd let him get so close to her, and she'd fallen right into that little trap. Plus, she'd technically 'killed' him first, but details shmetails right? She just couldn't stop dwelling on it, and she really needed to get her shit together. So, while she tried to shove all things Elijah (and Klaus by association) Caroline threw herself into helping Tyler learn about his furry alter ego. But she wasn't in it alone. As promised she'd called in a friend, a young werewolf named Jude who'd she'd met two years ago, who came as quick as she could. She'd arrived three days after the Elijah incident and was more than happy to 'school' Tyler in all things werewolf. The football player had tried flirting a bit with the she-wolf who only turned down his advances with a sharp looking smile but the vampire could tell her friend was practically preening from the attention.

Caroline was currently making them lunch in the kitchen as the two talked in the living room as they packed some heavy duty chains and some water bottles in a duffle bag that smelled too much like jock for Caroline's liking. She'd almost forgotten that he full moon was tonight, she was so distracted. No wonder Tyler had looked so solemn. She knew the day before he'd watched a his uncle (who'd apparently disappeared sometime before she got there) had of his first transformation and it was brutal. Caroline added a few more slices of turkey to his sandwich before she walked to the living room with lunch.

"Does it get any better?"

Caroline paused before she could walk into the living room, peeking around the corner. Jude ran her fingers through her long blonde hair and gave a small shrug. "It still hurts, if that's what you mean," she told him, a bitter tone in her voice. Tyler's shoulders sagged a bit but Jude touched his shoulder n a comforting way. "It gets faster though. Plus when you're a wolf all your senses are heightened, you're faster, stronger...its kinda cool in its own way." The two shared a laugh and Caroline smiled. She felt sad for them, both being too young for this kind of pain, and then their was the guilt of just how they triggered the curse. She shook those thoughts out of her head and with a bright smile walked into the living room, getting their attention. "Who's ready for lunch?"

Once lunch was done Caroline and the two werewolves went their separate ways, with a promise to meet up again at four so she could help chain them up in preparation for the full moon. The blonde decided it was probably time for her to face the Salvatores. Since the day after they rescued Elena they'd been blowing up her phone demanding to know how Elijah was still alive. Or, Damon was demanding and Stefan was more or less begging for some information. She'd turned her phone off and stayed at her place or at the Lockwood mansion. She knew they needed an explanation and it was high time she gave them one. With a sigh Caroline grabbed her bag and keys and went to the door. She opened it was surprised to see Katherine on the other side. Caroline stared wide eyed at the girl before realizing that this wasn't her old friend. "Uh...Elena right?" The brunette nodded but then gave her an apologetic look. "Um..this is going to sound weird and I probably shouldn't be asking because we barely met but I need your help."

Well fuck.

Turns out the help she needed was sneaking away from the Salvatores to go speak with Katherine and didn't really know who else to ask. Reluctantly, Caroline agreed. "Listen I don't know how well I'm going to be able to distract your boyfriend and I do have other things to do tonight, so you should be careful while you're down here with her," she warned. Elena just nodded and smiled at her gratefully. "Thank you. And I'm really sorry again for asking." The blonde smiled, thankful that this one was so much more polite than the other two, and helped her down the stares and into Katherine's prison. She walked in with her and stopped her before she could get to close to the rock that covered Katherine's cell. "Give me a second to move this and...summon the beast." Carefully she moved the rock aside and stood at the entrance. "Katherine?" she called. She waited a few moments and was rewarded with the sight of the elder doppleganger slowly and seemingly painfully making her way to the entrance. She stopped when she was close and glared at the blonde, who met her glare with a cool look. "So my first visitor is you? How depressing." she said, making Caroline roll her eyes. "I'm not here to see you but she," she gestured to Elena,"is."

Katherine turned to see who she met and groaned, but before she could say much on it Caroline took the backpack she'd brought and tossed it at her former friend. "Clothes," was all she said in explanation before turning to Elena. "Good luck, be safe, and don't get caught in the woods when the moons out." She spared one last, almost sympathetic, look at Katherine before going back up the stairs, hoping she'd have enough time to distract Stefan and get to Tyler and Jude in time. The question now was: How?

Stefan was stupid, he'd know if she was trying to distract him if she didn't play it cool. Plus, the fact that Caroline wasn't the best liar (despite having had years to practice) wasn't exactly helping. When she finally got back to her car the blonde vampire finally had a semblance of a plan. Demand Stefan spend time with her in order to catch up. Added bonus, she'd answer the questions he and his brother needed answers for.

Yeah, this should go well.

Stefan was just walking out the door of his home when Caroline pulled up. She rolled down the window and smiled at him. "Aren't you supposed to be in school?" she asked, teasing. He rolled his eyes but gave her a good natured smile. "Aren't you supposed to be avoiding me?" Caroline just laughed and unlocked the car. "Hop in, I have a bit of time to kill to answer your questions," she said. He laughed a little and shook his head. "I'm going to check on Elena. Plus We got answers. From Rose." Caroline bristled a bit at that but let it go. "Well I'm sure I can still answer a couple questions. And you and I haven't really had bonding time. C'mon, let me get you lunch, Elena can wait a little while."

Stefan looked like he wanted to argue for a moment but sighed and got in her car. She smiled brightly at him and as soon as he buckled in she was driving. "Please tell me there's other places to get a decent burger besides The Grill," she told him. He shook his head. "Nah, don't think so. The Grill isn't all that bad, you just have to give it a chance." Caroline scoffed. "Say that after you've eaten at a five star restaurant."

They joked back and forth (which was funny considering the fact that Stefan wasn't funny, just sarcastic) during the short drive to The Grill. They seated themselves and Caroline ordered a drink while opted out. The waiter for their table, cute boy named Matt, flashed her a pleasant smile and damn if she didn't swoon just a little. When he walked off she watched, admiring the way his ass looked in his jeans. Stefan caught her staring and raised a brow. "He's a little young for you isn't he?" Caroline gave him a look. "You, lecturing me on checking out the younger generation? That's a laugh." They shared grins and Caroline set to looking at the menu. "I'm not interested really. He's cute. The whole 'boy next door' thing is really working for him. And those eyes.." Caroline gave an exaggerated, dreamy sigh.

Soon Matt came back and took her order, brought her food, and after the two vampires exchanged menial conversation for an hour as she munched on her salad (she decided she was feeling greens, not beef) before Stefan finally asked what she'd been hoping he wouldn't. "So why are you trying to distract me? I need to go see Elena." Caroline paused mid chew before swallowing her bite and shrugging, trying to seem nonchalant. "Oh, well I thought you'd have questions and what not...plus I'm sure Elena is busy or...something." He gave her an odd look before leaning back in his chair and crossing his arms. "Where's Elena?"

Fuck.
