CLARY'S POV-
Darkness.
Why was everything so dark? She felt the familiar tingle of her eyeballs moving underneath her eyelids. Oh, her eyes were closed.
What was that smell? Her nose twitched trying to come up with an answer. Was it…disinfectant?
Where the hell was she?
"Clare?"
Her eyes snapped open, once she realized they still worked, trying to find the person whose voice that belonged to. It was fuzzy at first as she tried to regain her sight. And why was it so goddamn bright all the sudden?
A sudden fear washed over her when she realized she was in a hospital. Oh god, what happened? She did a quick check to make sure she still had all her limbs and that everything still worked fine. When everything seemed all there she turned her bemused expression to that first voice she heard.
Jace eyed her carefully before he spoke, "What's the last thing you remember?"
Clary gave a short laugh. "Nice to see you too Jace," But then with the hurt look that crossed his face she sighed. "I remember being taken home by Jonathan after the game. How did I get here? I feel fine."
His hand reached and caressed her cheek. "Baby, you've been out for the past three days. We all were so worried you wouldn't wake up-"
He was caught off by her shocked expression, "Three days?"
She shut her eyes and suddenly everything was coming back.
His voice came out husky and lust filled. "I'm sure we can find a way to pass the time…"
He leaned down to kiss her but she pulled away at the last second. "Wait..I need to find Jace. He's probably worried." She went to leave his grasp but it suddenly tightened.
"I thought we talked about this. You don't need him sweetheart. Just let me take care of you…" He leaned down again but she quickly shoved him away.
"I said NO, Sebastian." She yelled.
Clary then realized she was alone in the woods with him. Making him angry might not be the best idea. Half of her expected that he would force her, especially with the look on his face.
"Fine. Go crawl back to Jace like his little bitch. I was offering you salvation to what was coming, but no you'll just suffer like they did." He stalked closer to her, and she tried her very best not to back down but she eventually weltered under his gaze. "Maybe you'll be crawling back to me soon." And with that he walked away.
She tried to slow her breathing down, not even realizing it had sped up. Everything was changing in her eyes. She didn't like it.
She gasped, "I took LSD with Sebastian." Tears started to fill her eyes. "It was horrible…I…I was so s-scared."
Jace pulled her into an immediate embrace, burying her head in his chest. "It's okay. You're fine now. Shh…" His hand smoothed her hair down trying to sooth her.
She also remembered everything else that happened.
And she didn't want Jace's comfort.
"No…stop…" She pushed against his chest. "GET AWAY FROM ME!" He finally detached himself and looked at her with such shock; she would've laughed if she wasn't hysterically crying.
"Clary-"
"I cheated on you. With Sebastian."
Whatever Jace was going to say he sure wasn't now. Several emotions played on his face, confusion-disbelief-hurt-anger-and then finally a mixture between hurt and anger.
Still crying she managed to get out, "I- I don't deserve to be your girlfriend or get your pity."
Just then the door of the hospital room burst open revealing her brother.
His face was drained of color clearly from exhaustion and he had bags under his eyes. He ran up to his sister and enveloped her in his arms. He pulled back after a few seconds to scan her over and make sure she was alright, concern clear in his eyes.
Then his eyes grew hard. "What the hell, Clarissa? LSD and Cocaine? How long have you been doing drugs? I swear to god I'm never letting you out of my sight again! Who the hell gave you this fucked up shit? They said you could have died-!"
"JON!" His rambling stopped. "Please stop with the questions."
Something must have shown on her face because he looked over at Jace, who was still silent and staring at the floor, then back to her.
"What else happened?" His voice turned to a scary whisper.
Jace finally spoke up, "I'm gonna kill him."
Jonathan looked toward his friend. "Who?"
Jace picked up the chair he was previously standing by and threw it across the room. Clary jumped in her bed from the sudden action. "Sebastian. That fucker gave her the drugs and he touched her. HE TOUCHED MY GIRLFRIEND WHILE SHE WAS UNDER THE INFLUENCE!" He started pacing back and forth.
Jonathan held his hands up, "Jace, calm down man." Clary was surprised with the restraint Jonathan was showing. His body immediately tensed when he heard what Jace had to say. She was surprised he wasn't on his way to find Sebastian at this moment. "They will kick you out of the hospital and you're scaring Clary."
Jace stopped his angry pace and looked at her. He ran forward and took a hold of her face on both sides. He looked so deeply in her eyes it started to scare her. "I'm gonna kill him." Clary grabbed his wrists that were connected to his hands on her face.
"Jace." She whispered. He closed his eyes as if savoring the sound. When he went to pull away she tightened her grip. "Please don't leave me."
His eyes opened again and placed a kiss on her forehead, "I'll never leave you." He whispered with his lips still attached to her. She relaxed into his body.
Everything was fine for now. She just hoped Jace or her brother didn't do anything stupid.
~~FOUR DAYS LATER~~
"You can stay home one more day if you want." She heard her brother's voice from behind her. She looked up in the mirror and saw him leaning against the bathroom frame, his arms folded and a frown on his face.
She shook her head, "No. I think it's time to go back. Besides I got you guys to keep him away."
They didn't tell the school or any parents about what happened with Sebastian. Clary herself would get in trouble with the school along with Sebastian. They had a very strict no alcohol or drugs rule. So they kept quiet and for now did nothing.
A look of determination crossed his face, "He won't. He already has a ditch in the woods with his name on it. Me and Jace are just waiting for our rhinestone shovels to come in the mail."
"JONATHAN!" She yelled but couldn't help the smile that took over her face. "Alright loser let's go before we're late." And she put down the makeup brush she had been holding.
The drive to school had been a silent one and when they arrived she saw all her friends waiting by the same spot they parked their car every day. And Jace was there, smiling. It made her feel sick to know he had forgiven her so easily but at the same time she was too selfish to care.
The second she got out of the car Isabelle pounced on her and crushed her with a hug.
"You look amazing! Trust me no one knows other than us and everything is gonna go back to normal around here. Right guys?" She looked at her brother, Simon, Magnus, Jace and Jonathan. They all nodded in their agreements. "Fabulous." She then turned and grabbed Simon's arm to drag him off to her locker.
They had small conversations, which for the entire time Jace had his arm protectively around her waist. Jonathan had chosen to not think about their relationship for the time being but eventually she knew they'd have to talk. People all over the parking lot stared at the couple. She could just imagine what they were thinking…
Jace is with her?
She must be good at head.
God how could Jonathan let them date?
He just wants her because she's untouched.
Poor Clary, he's gonna break her heart.
She would ignore everyone just like Jace did.
Her first period was Spanish and none of her friends were in that class but thankfully Sebastian didn't look like he was in school today. She took her seat and opened her notebook with her homework. Maybe today wouldn't be so bad. Twenty minutes into class and they had been copying the definitions they had received, in a peaceful silence, when there was a knock on the door.
Ms. Ferrante stopped what she was doing at her desk and got up to open the door. Clary took a deep breath when she saw the principal there. After talking for a few seconds with Ms. Ferrante he spoke, "Clarissa, will you accompany me to my office?"
Everyone's head turned and stared at her. She slowly got up from her seat and packed up all her belongings. The principal just waited by the door with a blank look on his face, she couldn't tell whether this was a good or bad thing. Together they left the class and made their way down to his office.
Sebastian hadn't been in class so maybe he was waiting down there too?
When they got into the office she saw her brother sitting there waiting with…Mr. Herondale? She looked back and forth between them before the principal cleared his throat. "Have a seat, Miss Morgenstern."
She plopped down into the seat next to her brother and sent him a questioning look. Which he returned with an unknowing shrug.
Clary looked at Jace's father, "Uh Hi Stephen."
He smiled warmly at her, "Clarissa dear always the pleasure to see you. I've heard some news about you and my boy." He winked, "You're too good for him." She laughed and even Jonathan couldn't help but smile. Stephen Herondale always could make anyone smile.
"Well rather than talking about their social lives," The principal sent a look to Stephen. "The police department has found some rather disturbing news."
Stephen's face turned darkly serious when he now looked at the two siblings. "Your parents were very good friends of my wife and I. So of course when they passed we wanted to take care of you until Jonathan was of age to. Your parent's death was labeled an accident those years ago but we have re-opened it as a murder." Clary looked at her brother while he looked at her. Murder. Her parents were murdered. "I'm very sorry to tell you this. It's almost as hard as knowing that they were purposely taken away from you two. But another reason I'm here is because other than being the ADA on the case, I am also your old guardian even though Jonathan is now yours Clarissa. The department thinks that the killer might still be out there and have close ties to the town. So for now until we catch whoever they are you two will be living with my family."
Clary's eyes widened. The killer was near them? Living with Jace? Oh my.
Jonathan spoke up, "I don't understand, how do you know the killer could even be in this state or country anymore? There has to be something you're not telling us."
Stephen and the principal stayed silent.
Jonathan slammed his fist on the wall next to him. "TELL US!" Clary wrapped her hands around his arm closest to her. It had a sudden effect on him and he relaxed underneath her touch.
Stephen cleared his voice, "We received pictures from who… we don't know." He opened and envelope Clary hadn't realized was next to him. He took out what appeared to be photos. "I was disquieted to have seen them." He handed them to Clary. She didn't know what to expect.
Photos of her parents seemed the clearest guess but when she looked at them she let out a gasp. She was looking at photos of her. Her in her room. Her drawing outside. Her cheering at that football game. She wanted to cry when she saw ones of her getting out the shower in a tower and others of her in her bra and panties.
One broke that barrier and the tears started to flow. It was her and her mother hugging the day before she died.
Jonathan snatched the photos out of her hand, taking them in.
"They're watching you Clarissa; they have been since before and after your parent's death."
AND THAT'S ALL FOLKS!
-Who is watching Clary?
-Who killed her parents?
-What did Sebastian mean to his warning to her?
I'm again so sorry this took so long to update and trust me I love and appreciate all the reviews I see!
Till Next Time xoxo
