Chapter 10- Find a Fish

With Biker Rose

Travis and Katie were not sure where they would find a fish. They were broke after spending all their money at the Arcade trying to obtain the rainbow. Travis had suggested they go fishing, but Katie had pointed out they needed equipment to do that.

"You can catch fish with your bare hands, I have seen it," said Travis.

"Yes you saw Percy do it," said Katie slowly "He is a son of Poseidon; I think he had an advantage."

They were wandering through the town when they noticed a fish. It was in the front garden of someone's house. They would have to steal, a good thing a son of Hermes was on the team.

"How are we going to do this?" asked Katie looking at her expert.

"Hope no one notices us as we grab it…. or cause a distraction and then grab it," replied Travis. It was decided that the second option would be the backup plan.

"You stay here," said Travis "the plan is to follow the fence line, and hopefully the plants can act as cover." Katie didn't realise just how much preparation and skill it took to steal an item. Maybe Travis wasn't as dumb as she thought … but then again!

Katie watched as Travis made his way towards the pond in the corner of the garden. He stayed close to the fence line moving slowly and deliberately towards the pond. Travis suddenly stopped and tried to blend into the hedge as someone stepped onto the front porch. He couldn't be seen yet but if they walked off the porch. Katie commanded the plants around Travis to grow increasing their foliage to hide Travis. She was just in time as the person walked down the front yard and drove away in their car. Travis hacked his way out of the vines and branches and quickly reached the pond. He bent down and the next moment Travis was making his way back to the street the item in his hand.

"Easy," said Travis grabbing Katie's hand and pulling her down the road away from the house.

"Thanks for the assistance with the plants, I thought I was a goner," said Travis once they were a couple of streets away. The team had stolen a garden gnome, the one that has a figure of a fish on the end of a fishing line.

With Van Gogh Fast We Go Faster

Rachel and Connor used their money to purchase a fish. It was a Big Mouth Billy Bass, the singing fish. It sang the song - Don't Worry, Be Happy; Connor seemed to enjoy pressing the button to make the fish sing. Connor gave Rachel a sly look as the song began again; Rachel huffed and grabbed the bag off Connor. "Hey," whined Connor.

"Relax you can play with it after the scavenger hunt is finished," said Rachel. Rachel could imagine that it could get annoying after hearing it for the fifteenth time. Connor grinned as he imagined the pranks he could play on the others, unfortunately he didn't think about the consequences. Rachel had a vision which showed Connor regretting their purchase. Her vision showed Percy, Clarisse, Katie and Thalia and as they were attacking Connor while music played, she wasn't too concerned … yet.

With Awesome Will and Chris

Will and Chris got a fishing gnome but they bought the gnome rather than stole it like the team Biker Rose. Chris and Will were just wandering through the town; they seem to be doing that a lot, when they past a house with a garden full of gnomes. A lady was outside watering the garden as the pair walked past. Chris noticed the fish before Will. The two approached the lady as she sprayed the hedge along the fence with water.

"Nice garden," said Will.

"I like your gnomes," said Chris.

"You like my gnomes…?" the lady said warily.

"Yes."

"Most teenagers either steal or damage my gnomes," said the lady warily still.

"Oh look Will, it's a fishing gnome," said Chris pointing to the gnome they wanted.

"Oh is that what we have been looking for?" asked Will.

"Can we have that gnome," said Chris pointing to the gnome.

"You want a gnome..?" the lady asked surprised.

"Yes, could we have that fishing gnome?" asked Will.

"It is for my great aunt, she collects garden gnomes and I have been looking for a fishing gnome for a while but they have been sold out. Her birthday is tomorrow and I don't have a gift for her," said Chris pretending to panic.

"We will pay you for it," said Will fumbling for their money. The lady agreed to sell the gnome. The pair did pay a pricey amount for the gnome. Will and Chris realised that the lady could probably buy two gnomes with the money she got from the boys.

With Moon Owls

Annabeth and Thalia walked past the local garden centre. Out the front was an enormous sign advertising a sale on statues. The sign was standing up against a life size statue of a little girl holding an Easter basket. Thalia realised that Annabeth had stopped and was staring at the statue in shock.

"What's wrong?" asked Thalia concerned by her friend.

"That statue," stuttered Annabeth looking faint.

"What about it?" asked Thalia looking at the statue; the girl had a startled look on her face.

"I saw this statue in Medusa lair?" Annabeth informed Thalia. Both girls were quickly on full alert as they realised what the statue implied.

"Do you like the statue?" asked an employer of the garden centre. "Unfortunately they are all marred in the face."

The employer of the garden centre didn't notice how tense the two girls had become. Thalia and Annabeth inched their hands towards where they kept their weapons.

"Thankfully we got them for free, we found a whole lot of them in an abandon roadside diner, we are having trouble shifting them," said the employer in a quiet tone. He didn't notice the girls sigh in relief.

"Do you have any fish statues?" asked Thalia.

"We have a man who is fishing, oh and a fisherman holding his catch," replied the employer and lead them into the garden centre. They were still on edge but Thalia and Annabeth got their fish. A small stone fish had been knocked off one of the statues.

With Our Dads Kick Butt

Nico, Percy and Clarisse were still in the shopping district when Nico noticed a shop and stopped at the window looking at the display. Percy and Clarisse joined him at the window. Inside were Labrador pups playing within their cage, rolling over each other, biting each other's tails. In the next cage were some kittens they however were piled up on each other fast asleep.

"I want a pet," said Nico.

"We need to find a fish," said Percy as he and Clarisse made their way into the store.

"Come on Brat," called Clarisse. The three made their way into the store, past the dogs and cats at the front of the store, Nico did lag behind as he put his hands into the cage trying to pet them. Nico was dragged to the back of the store where the aquariums were, grumbling about wanting a pet.

When they reached the aquariums all the fish crowded to the front of the tanks. Percy was inundated with calls of "Son of Poseidon," and "Pick me, Pick me." He stood back from the tanks trying to ignore the fish. Nico meanwhile had his nose almost pressed up to the tank. The fish did not like the aura of death coming from Nico.

"Can we hurry up and pick one?" asked Percy.

"What's the rush?" asked Clarisse.

"Talking fish, curse of being the son of Poseidon," replied Percy.

"Can I choose?" asked Nico. Percy nodded; he hadn't seen Nico this enthusiastic in a while, maybe even since he was ten.

"Can I help you?" asked the shop assistant who had approached the group.

"We want a goldfish," said Clarisse. Percy grabbed a plastic aquarium with a lid which also included gravel and a fake plant.

"Percy I want that one," said Nico pointing to a black goldfish; the only black fish swimming in a sea of orange. The fish sort of reminded the other two of Nico; Clarisse because the fish was black and the odd one out. Percy because of the same reason as Clarisse but also because it wasn't accepted by the other fish, judging by the teasing. They both knew that was the perfect fish to choose.

"Is that the fish you want?" asked the shop assistant. Percy replied that it was and the shop assistant proceeded to catch the black fish in the net.

Nico was soon clutching the bag with the black fish in it, and they walked out of the store. Percy however had gone back to the aquariums to say a few choice words to the other fish. How dare they tease the vulnerable black fish.

"So Nico, what are you going to name the fish?" asked Clarisse.

A/N: Thanks for reading. Please Review (Pretty Please)

What should Nico call his fish?

Who is Chris buying the gnome for?

I wrote all the teams this chapter; tell me which scenario was your favourite.

I have read House of Hades and have to say that it is the best book in the Heroes of Olympus series. Loved that Rick had the same idea of how Annabeth and Percy escape from Tartarus as me. Pity I didn't write the story I planned to, I couldn't get it from my head to the page.
