Izzie

"Help!" she shrieked, pounding on her boyfriend's still chest.

She moved down to give him mouth-to-mouth.

She had been at this for twenty minutes, and it was obviously not changing a thing.

Finally, after one last punch to his chest, Izzie froze and sat up on her knees, staring down her Alex's face.

Tears welled up in her eyes. "Damn it," she whispered.

Her eyes fixed on Cristina, Owen, and then finally Alex again. "Damn it!" she repeated.

She grasped a stick, stood up, and threw it as hard as she possibly could. Her chest heaved with every ragged breath she took.

"Damn it!"

She fell against a tree, sobbing so hard it hurt. But she didn't care.

Nothing mattered anymore.

Alex was gone.

...

Meredith

"Come on Derek. Please!"

She felt for a pulse. Nothing.

She tried to give him CPR, but his ribs were so clearly crushed that it wouldn't help anything.

He was gone.

"Meredith," a voice said.

She didn't respond, she kept shaking her husband as her breathing sped up.

"Meredith?"

"No. No! He's dead because of me! If I hadn't left him at the beach, he wouldn't have followed me!"

"Meredith!"

Meredith jumped up with angry tears rushing down her face, and she rushed forwards, pushing George in the chest.

"You died!" she shrieked. "And you won't leave us alone! We saved you, and you still let us die out here! Damn it George!"

George stood still, staring at her. "Meredith..."

"No. Don't. Lexie is dead. Mark is dead. Derek is dead! How could you let this happen? Who the hell is doing all of his?"

"I am," George responded coolly.

Meredith froze, her chin quivering as the tears continued to roll down her cheeks. "What?"

...

Arizona

"Callie?" she whispered.

Callie continued to stare out the window. "Something is horribly wrong."

"Baby," Arizona sighed. "Come back to bed."

Callie turned around, eyes wide with horror. "None of this is real."

...

Izzie

She pulled her body along as if it were dead weight.

She didn't know where she was going.

All she knew was that life for her was over.

Everything she cared about was gone.

She stopped when she saw something through the trees- a cliff.

...

Meredith

"You did this?" she whispered, horror-struck.

"Yes," George admitted. "I did."

"George... how could you?"

Meredith turned her head to the side, trying to understand what was happening.

Suddenly, a sharp pain shot through her arm and she fell to her knees, clenching her teeth.

"Your arm is infected," George explained to her. "It's killing you."

Meredith's mouth fell wide open as her body grew weaker.

"George..."

"You were all waiting for something to happen. You got off of this island perfectly happy and alive, and yet you still took it all for granted. You would stand all day mourning that fact that you were ever here to begin with. You were wasting life. Watching you slam your head against the shower wall until it bled was my final straw. I had to save you."

"Save us?" Meredith spat through clenched teeth. "You're killing us."

"Quite the contrary."

...

Izzie

She stepped over to the edge of the cliff, feeling her shoulder-length hair rush around her face from the wind.

Her tears had dried. She stared out into nothing, leaning over far and trying to see the bottom.

It was so far down. Natalie, a girl from the plane crash, and her husband Andrew had fallen from this cliff and been killed in seconds.

She shut her eyes and leaned forwards until the air was all that held her.

...

Meredith

"What the hell is that supposed to mean?" she hissed.

George stood over her, his face sad. "Your head is way too easy to invade," he said.

His mouth slowly curved up around the edges. Meredith didn't understand.

Tears still made their way down her face.

"You mean..."

"This is all in your head. It's all a dream I created for you."

He stepped closer and the pain ripped through Meredith's body as she fell back against the ground, cringing in pain.

"So... they're all still alive?"

"Only seconds have passed in your time Meredith."

She smiled in pure shock. "This isn't real."

"Nope."

"So where is everyone?"

"Cristina, Owen, Lexie, Alex, and Derek... well they are all dead here in your head. And..." he paused for a long moment. "Izzie just threw herself off of a cliff."

"This can't possibly be true," Meredith whispered, feeling weaker and weaker.

"And what is the last thing you remember that actually seemed real out of all of this?"

Meredith thought back. The plane crash has been real, her head being invaded- all of it.

But the last thing that had seemed out of place was-

"In the shower," Meredith said. "When I hit my head against the wall and begged the voices to get out."

"You created the voices in your head and I started this world before you could do something drastic."

"So I'm there... in the shower... right now?"

"Yes."

"Holy shit."

Meredith looked up at George as she grew weaker. Her breathing began to slow.

Her heartbeat grew weaker.

George stood there, a small smile on his face. "Goodbye Meredith."

She felt her breath leave her.

A/N: Just the epilogue left. Does this all make sense now? It was all in her head. The epilogue will be up by tomorrow.
