"This is a special ring, with a special stone. This is what protects you from the sun. Wear it at all times." Damon talked to me like I was some stupid child.
"I'm not twelve, asshole. Give me the ring." I reached out my hand.
"For someone who doesn't have a leg to stand on, you're very mouthy." He smirked.
"For someone who has turned two innocent girls into vampires, you lack remorse." I countered.
"Remorse for what exactly?"
"Ruining our lives and ultimately killing Vicki. Do you know what that's done? Jeremy is devastated. And I can only imagine what Matt is going though!" I was crying now.
He chuckled, "FYI neither of them are aware of what actually happened. And ultimately I couldn't care less about your petty lives. In case you forgot, I was trying to kill you." He pressed me into his bedroom wall.
"Get off of me." I pushed his chest.
"Look I don't have time for this. There's a party tonight at The Grill, and unfortunately you're invited. So get dressed. You look...dead." his smirk made my blood boil.
"All of my clothes are at my house, which apparently I can't walk into, because of you. So you have volunteered to be my ATM." I smirked proud of myself.
"Get invited in. Not my problem." He walked out of the room.
Frustrated, I yelled, "I am your problem!"
"On the contrary, you are Stefan's problem. He actually cares."
"But you promised you would teach me..." I sounded pathetic.
"In time it has proven that hands on is the perfect method of teaching. Move along. You've got a party to attend." He kissed my cheek.
"Pig." I scoffed.
I walked downstairs and a girl with long blonde hair was talking to Stefan. She was extremely pretty and intimidating. My attempt to slip out the front door failed...miserably.
"Who is she?" The blonde stood in front of the door.
I turned to Stefan quickly, he just smiled, "Avery it's alright. This is a very old friend of mine, Lexi. Lexi this is Avery." He gestures between us.
"I'm not that old. And how do we know ?" Her eyes danced up and down my body.
"She's a local."
"And a vampire." She stated.
"And a vampire, yes." Stefan confirmed.
They were talking like I wasn't standing two feet away from them and it was starting to piss me off. My emotions have been everywhere since my change. "I'm standing right here and I can speak for myself." I snapped. They both looked at me with blank stares.
"Damon killed me with Stefan's blood in my system. Now if you will excuse me I have to find a way into my house." I pushed past both of them.
"It's light outside!" Lexi yelled.
I gave her a confused look, "Isn't that what this is for?" I waved my hand around gesturing to the ugly ring on my finger.
"You're kidding right? She gets a ring?" Lexi threw her hands up at Stefan.
"Yeah I'm out of here." I sped to my jeep.
The whole way there Green Day blared through the speakers. It's the only thing that kept my mind from racing. How am I supposed to ask for permission into my own home? A place I ran in and out of over the years. I really hope Tyler answers the door.
I knocked on the door and rang the doorbell. It took a minute, but to my relief Tyler answered the door. Worry was clear on his face. In the midst of everything going on I completely forgot about my brother.
He looked at me with tears in his eyes, "Are you okay?" He asked in a strained tone.
I nodded.
"Then get your ass inside now." He gritted his teeth and grabbed me by my arm.
I assume it was supposed to hurt, but his grip didn't even phase me as he drug me into the house.
"Can you imagine what I've been going through? Do you know how worried sick I've been? Your phone better be broke and you better have a damn good excuse for going missing like that!" He screamed in my face.
"Ty let go you're scaring me..." I whimpered.
He released my arms and pulled me into a hug, "You scared me."
"I didn't mean to, Ty." I cried in his shoulder.
"Vicki left. I can't lose you too." He whispered.
My stomach made a horrific gurgling noise and my throat had a slight burn. This must be what hunger feels like to a vampire.
Tyler's scent filled my nostrils. Just one little taste and I should be good. It won't hurt him. I can make him forget right? Before I could act on those thoughts I pushed him away.
"What the hell Ave?" Tyler grabbed his shoulder in pain.
I scratched the back of my neck awkwardly, "You were getting too sappy dude."
"You're right. Look if you're going off for a few days, next time text me at least." He laughed.
"Are you going to Caroline's party tonight?" I asked.
"Yeah I might make an appearance. You going?"
"Yeah. I needed some clothes." I pointed at my filthy clothing.
"Do I even want to know where you've been?" He shook his head.
"Probably not." I said heading to the stairs. I turned and looked at my brother. His face had relaxed since I walked in, but he was still worried. "I love you Ty."
"You too kiddo." He said before walking out the front door.
Well getting in was easier than I thought.
