Chapter 10: The Time Has Come to Say Goodbye
A/N: hi everyone, thank you so all your awesome reviews. This is the last chapter of this story, I hope you liked it. I really enjoyed writing it and I'm kind of sad it's over. Before I shut up and let you read the chapter I'd just like to say that I don't think some of you are going to like the ending and I'm sorry about that but if I'm honest I only started to write this story to prove to somebody that I could write a story that wasn't your typical 'everyone ends up together – happily ever after' type story. So yeah anyways thanks again everyone. Hope you like the last chapter and I'm thinking about doing a sequel if you're interested. :

For the last time I do not own Danny Jones : but I do own the song.
"Mum I'm just going to drop something off at the post office," I called up the stairs pulling on my jacket.
"Ok honey, hurry back though, we're leaving soon," my mum yelled back as I opened the front door.
I grabbed my guitar and headed out into the street shutting the door behind me. I crossed the road and headed towards the familiar family home opposite my house.
I walked up the front path and knocked on the front door.
It opened a few minutes later and I came face to face with a very tired puffy-eyed looking Danny.
"Hey," he said in a low voice.
"Hi, have you got a minute?" I asked.
"Sure come in," Danny replied stepping aside so I could enter the house.
He led me into the living room.
"Are you going soon?" he asked as we sat down on the sofa.
"Erm…yeah," I replied quietly, "look, I haven't got long so I'll just get this over with. I don't want to take my guitar with me so I was wondering if you wanted to keep it for me."
Danny looked at me in surprise.
"I won't get any use out of it and I'll probably get broken so if you want it take it," I said pushing the case towards him.
Danny nodded and took the case.
"I should really go, my mum will be going crazy," I said standing up.
"When is your flight?" Danny asked following me into the hallway.
"We're due to leave at 11 o'clock," I replied.
"You better get going then," Danny said opening the front door, "you don't want to miss the flight."
"Goodbye Danny," I said stepping out into his driveway, "say goodbye to your parents for me."
Danny nodded and waved. I could see the pain in his eyes. For a second I felt bad but then I remember what he had done to me and quickly forgot again.
I turned around as I heard the front door shut and hurried back to my house. My parents were loading the suitcases into a taxi.
"Ready honey?" my mum asked handing me my handbag.
"Yeah, let's just get out of here," I replied flatly and climbed into the car.
We drove to the airport in silence. I stared out of the window and thought about what I was doing. Am I doing the right thing? Should I really be running from my problems? I couldn't get Danny's face out of my mind. His bright blue eyes were clouded with pain and tears.
Once we arrived at the airport my dad paid the driver and we unloaded the bags. I followed my parent's into the terminal dragging my bags behind me.
We checked in and headed to the gate to the departures lounge. I had just handed my ticket and passport to the flight attendant when I heard somebody shouting my name. I turned in shock and saw Danny sprinting through the crowds of people towards me.
"Danny what are you doing here?" I asked when he stopped in front of me out of breath.
"Anna, please don't do this," he panted, "please don't go."
"Danny, I don't have time for this, I'm going to miss the flight," I replied.
"You can't leave," Danny said taking hold of my hand.
"Why not?" I demanded, "…and don't just say 'because you can't' because that's not a good enough reason."
"Anna, I love you," Danny whispered, "you can't leave me."
"Danny, how the hell do you expect me to believe that after what you did to me," I shouted, "you and Ruby humiliated me in front of everyone, she pushed me down a flight of flipping stairs and you didn't do anything about it. I really thought you liked me for who I am but you just used me. You really hurt me Danny."
"I brought you these," Danny said softly pulling out a bunch of flowers from behind his back. It was a bunch of twelve roses, eleven were real and one was artificial.
I looked up at Danny who was smiling slightly.
"I'll love you until the last one dies," he said.
"What are you doing Danny?" I said dumping the flowers on a nearby chair.
"We can run away together, come on Anna, we can survive together we only need each other," Danny replied.
"Danny, stop trying to be Daniel, it's not going to work," I shouted furiously.
"…but I don't understand, wasn't Daniel based on me anyway," Danny replied with a confused expression.
"No, Daniel was based on the you I thought you were, you are nothing like Daniel, he's sweet, kind, loving and honest, you will never be like that, you will always be a lying, cheating, backstabbing idiot and I hate you," I yelled bursting into tears.
"Anna, don't try and make this into a fight because it's not going to make it any easier," Danny said quietly stepping closer to me.
"Please just go," I whispered, "you're just making it worse."
"Anna, I'm so sorry," Danny whispered, "once I started to get to know you, I really started to like you, we got on so well, I really do love you, please stay with me."
A tear slid down his face. I reached out to wipe it away but stopped myself.
"Danny, I have to go I'm sorry," I said backing away from him, "goodbye."
Danny turned and started to walk away from me. He was wiping away his tears as he went.
"Miss, are you boarding this flight?" the attendant asked.
I ignored him and watched Danny walking slowly away from me. Was I going to regret this for the rest of my life? I knew in my heart that I would.
I took off into the crowd after Danny.
"Danny?" I said grabbing his arm.
He turned around and looked at me. His blue eyes were swimming with tears.
"Danny, I love you to," I said.
Danny leant forward and kissed me. The force nearly knocked me over. I pulled away after a few seconds and pushed him away from me.
"…but I'm still going," I said softly, "I promise I will come back one day, but for now I need to get out of here."
Danny hugged me tightly.
"I'm going to miss you," he said quietly.
"So this is it then," I said stepping back, "you're just going to let me leave?"
"All I want is for you to be happy, so if going to France will make you happy then so be it," he replied.
"Goodbye Danny, I love you," I said and hurried back to where my parents were waiting by the gate.
I took my ticket and passport from the attendant and followed my parents into the departures lounge. I didn't look back, this is my new start. I don't care what anybody thinks about me anymore.
She walks down the street hiding behind her hair
She's in her own little world without a single care.
All the kids stop and call her a geek,
To then she's just another messed up freak.
But inside she has a dream
That she just wants to shout and scream…
-
I wanna sing, I wanna be free,
I wanna be who I wanna be.
We all fall down and I've been beaten into the ground,
But I'm not giving up, I've truly had enough,
You mean nothing to me.
-
Once upon a time she sat down and wrote a story,
Of two star-crossed lovers living a life full of glory.
She so wished for it to be true but then it hit a messy end,
And she didn't know what to do.
So she escaped to a far away land hoping to start again and live her dream.
And now she's the girl with her middle finger in the air
Because for once in her life she just doesn't care.
