Evony, as the Morrìgan had insisted Kenzi call her, had called back giving a meeting time and location. The location was a restaurant but Kenzi couldn't help the slight déjà vu when the Morrgìan told her the name of the downtown location and as she pulled up to the address, she new why it had seemed familiar.
De Swank.
Well, that's what she had called it when Bo's dark booty call had taken them there. This is where that stupid Loki fae had tried to hook Evony up as Nate's manager.
This was definitely a bad judgment call on the Morrìgan's part because it put Kenzi in a mood to not be particularly willing to talk.
Begrudgingly, though, Kenzi walked up to the restaurant. She had to do this meeting no matter how much she wished to go home and ignore anything the witch of a woman had to say. She had to buck up and deal but as she entered the restaurant and was led to the table, bucking up seemed less and less appealing.
There at the table sat none other than Vex.
Her mind cried out in anger but she remembered what her hellhound told her and it served to calm her down, minutely. She was by no means ready to forgive him but she was a little bit more understanding, that was, if what she was told was true. She wasn't going to fully believe it unless the words came straight from the horse's mouth.
Collecting herself, she sat in the seat directly across from the Mesmer. He smiled, but she could tell it was forced. She quickly picked up the subtle differences in his appearance, differences she was sure she wouldn't be able to spot if she were still human. His eyes didn't hold the same mirth-y glow that they usually did and they sported dark circles that were barely visible. The biggest thing that stuck out that human or fae would notice was his lack of makeup. His usual eyeliner and mascara were missing altogether. All in all he looked like a whipped puppy.
"Hello Vex." Kenzi said stiffly.
Vex nodded, "Hello love."
Even his voice, she noticed, was lacking. He almost seemed depressed, but she wasn't going to push the issue. They just sat there in silence. The silence was so consuming that Kenzi nearly jumped out of her skin when the Morrìgan spoke.
"Kenzi, darling, it is so wonderful to see you." The sickly sweet voice was a bit overboard in Kenzi's opinion. Her beast agreed with a growl.
She is not the true ruler, you know this. You also know not all dark are horrible. Bruce is a prime example. You would make an excellent Morrìgan.
She considered the words whispered in her mind. The hellhound was right in instance of Bruce; he wasn't what one would consider a typical dark fae but then again neither was she. She had lived all her life as a human and now found herself in a situation she didn't know a whole lot about. Even though she had spent a year or so around the fae she never bothered to learn any of their ways because she could break the rules and claim innocence because hey she was just a human and the rules didn't apply to her. But now…now she had to learn, she had to comply, she had to obey. Those were things that Kenzi just did not do.
"So I know the Ash got to you first huh? Well you know that the hellhound does not belong to the light, it just wouldn't work. I also know that you may be considering staying unaligned like your succubitc-succubus friend but you also should know that neither the light nor the dark will stand for having two powerful fae unaligned, there would be too much chaos." As Evony finished her monologue she ended up sitting next to Kenzi, staring at her fiercely like there was no way Kenzi could say no. And in truth, Evony was right, she couldn't say no.
"You're right Evony. A hellhound can't belong to the light and I also know that both sides would fight me and BoBo tooth and nail if I chose to stay unaligned. So I will join the dark." Kenzi said with a grin, but not for the reasons Evony thought. Vex, however, did notice the malicious smile that graced Kenzi's face and knew shit was about to hit the proverbial fan.
"Wonderful." Evony praised as she clapped her hands. "Come to the complex at 5 and we will finalize things."
Evony rose gracefully from the table and walked towards the exit with pep in her step, thinking she had won some great prize. Vex, however, stayed behind to question Kenzi.
"What do you have up your sleeve, love?" Vex queried.
Kenzi just smiled, so Vex hadn't been completely oblivious.
"You wait and see, Love."
With that she walked away from the table with an extra sway to her hips that Vex was most certainly not oblivious to.
I need to apologize to that sexy woman.
A/N. So what do you think about Kenzi agreeing to the dark? Oh there is so much fun ahead. I hope you enjoyed. Reviews are always lovely!
