Chapter 10

"Who are you?" Morty finally spat out to the creature that continued to press its gloved hands against his neck.

"I am Jaeger and I have come to kill you!" The creature declared.

"So uh… I'm guessing you're not a good guy…" Morty observed, deadpan.

"Obviously." Jaeger said, bluntly.

"Hey!"

Jaeger turned around and saw all of Morty's new monster friends standing close by with displeased looks on their faces.

"Let him go!" Clawd demanded.

"Or what?" Jaeger questioned, mockingly.

"Or we make you!" Eunice stated, cracking her knuckles.

"This doesn't concern any of you." Jaeger told them.

"We think it does." Sabrina stated.

"Well…" Jaeger smirked. "Looks like someone's gonna need to be taught a lesson."

"Ooh, let me guess… you're the one whose gonna teach it to us!" Finn said, his eyes narrowed.

"Yeah, bring it on man!" Rami said, as he took on a goofy looking fighting stance.

"Guys, don't worry about me, just run, it's me he wants… although I don't know why…" Morty admitted.

"No. No, you don't. But you will, after I make the last few moments of your life… pure agony." Jaeger growled.

"Come on manster, why are doing this!?" Clawd demanded. "Just leave the kid alone!"

"Let's just say… thanks to actions of someone in his family… this boy deserves the worst death possible!" Jaeger stated.

"Wow… you crazy or something manster?" Finn inquired.

"I think that's pretty obvious." Clawdeen stated, stepping forward.

"Indeed." Sabrina added.

"I don't need to explain myself to the likes of you." Jaeger snarled.

"You'd better if you don't want Bloodgood up in your grill." Rami told him.

"For real." Finn nodded.

"Well… if you want your pound of flesh so badly…" Jaeger began before he roughly tosses Morty towards them. He was caught by Clawd and Finn, but the impact caused them to get knocked over as well.

"Now… who else wants to be part of the hunt?" Jaeger questioned as he held his knife up threateningly.

"Uh… not me?" Rami whimpered.

"Yeah, uh… no thank you." Eunice gulped.

"Come on, we take 'em!" Clawdeen stated.

"We can?" Rami asked, surprised.

"Of course we can, we're monsters like him!" Sabrina said.

Jaeger's eyes narrowed. "No. You're not. Not even close," he told them before he tossed his knife in their general direction and narrowly missed them, though he did manage to a cut a lock of both Sabrina's hair and Clawdeen's.

"Hey! That's my hair your messing with!" Clawdeen cried, just as Morty and the others got back up.

"Really? The guy is trying to kill us and worried about your hair?" Morty questioned, flatly.

"Well it did take us both a while to get done so…" Sabrina began.

"ENOUGH!" Jaeger yelled, startling. "You are all coming with me!"

"Yeah… I don't so." Clawd said, cracking his knuckles.

"Anybody got a plan, yo?" Rami asked.

"Here's one… run away!" Morty cried as he began dashing down the hall as fast as he could.

"That I can get behind!" Finn nodded as he ran off along with Morty.

"Let's go!" Clawd yelled as he, his sister and the others all began to make a break for it down the hall. The crazy monster with the knife growled angrily and began to chase after them all. They all screamed at the top of their lungs while they ran while Jaeger roared like a wild animal.

Close by, the rest of the ghouls were making their way down the hall as well.

"I wonder if Clawdeen is doing ok, you know trying to get Morty to notice her and all?" Frankie wondered.

"Probably not, that boy has eyes for Sabrina, not her." Cleo stated. The others glare at her. "What? I'm just being honest here."

"Hey… do you gills hear something?" Lagoona asked them as she picked up a strange upcoming sound.

"Yeah… it sounds like… screaming." Frankie realized. "A little ghoul screaming…"

They all look ahead and to their surprise they saw Morty running down the hallway towards them with a panicked look on his face and screaming at the top of his lungs.

"Oh, hey Morty! Have you seen…" Frankie began before Morty ran screaming past her the others, along with Clawd, Clawdeen and all his other monster friends.

"Talk later! Run NOW!" Morty called out as he and the others continued to run off down the hall at full speed.

"Huh, what's with them?" Lagoona wondered.

"Got me." Frankie shrugged.

Cleo sighed. "Probably just another dumb emergency."

They then hear a loud growling behind them, they turned around and to their horror they saw Jaeger charging towards them with his teeth barred and roaring as he began creating scraping sparks and loud screeching noises from both of the locker walls with his clawed gloves as he raced down the hall. The ghouls all gasped in shock and froze for a second.

"Zoinks!" Frankie cried as she the others then took off, away from Jaeger while he continued to run after them

They soon caught up with Morty and the others as they continued to dash through the school as fast as they could.

"Why is this guy chasing us!?" Lagoona proclaimed.

"Your guess is as good as mine!" Morty cried.

"What do we do?" Draculaura wondered, afraid.

"I'll try and slow him down!" Clawd said as he screeched to a halt and faced the one known as Jaeger.

"Wait, Clawd!" Draculaura cried.

"It's too dangerous!" Morty added.

"I can still try!" The werewolf declared before Clawdeen then joined in.

"Not without me you won't!" she added.

"Thanks sis." Clawd smiled, gratefully as Jaeger then stopped in front of them. He growled, agitated.

"You pups should stay out of my way. This between me, him and his rotten family!" Jaeger warned them.

"What are you even talking about?" Clawdeen questioned.

"That is none of your concern." Jaeger growled.

"You attacked our friend, so you just made it our concern pal!" Clawd stated, firmly.

"As you wish." Jaeger hissed as he moved in fast and punched Clawd hard in the gut, knocking the air out of him before back handing Clawdeen into a wall before she could react.

"Heh, too easy." The mysterious monster remarked, confidently.

"That's what you think!"

"Huh?" Jaeger responded before Clawdeen appeared and swept her leg beneath his feet, tipping him over while her brother punched him back into a locker.

"Ok, let's go!" Clawd told her.

"Right!" Clawdeen nodded as they continued to run down the hallway after the others while Jaeger recovered from his attack and growled very frustrated before he got up and resumed chasing after them.

Close by, Jackson Jekyll was walking down the hall fiddling with his ICoffin when he noticed Morty and the others coming around the corner fast and dashing down the hall toward him. He smiled.

"Hey guys, what's going on?" Jackson asked in a friendly manner.

"No time to talk Jackson! Evil guy trying to kill me!" Morty cried as he ran past him.

"What?" Jackson said, surprised and confused as Clawd and Clawdeen ran by.

"Just come on!" Clawd yelled as he grabbed Jackson and pulled him away along with the others.

"What's going on?" Jackson asked, as continued to get pulled away.

"I wish I knew!" Morty cried.

"Just keep running!" Clawd told everyone.

"No argument from me!" Clawdeen said, stressed.

"He's still following us!" Morty cried.

"Yeah, we can tell, Morty!" Clawdeen said, sounding stressed.

"Gotta slow him down!" Clawd told the. "Any ideas?"

Clawdeen looked up ahead of them and saw a couple of nerds hauling some canisters full of a sticky substance. She was then struck by inspiration.

"I got one. Go on ahead, ya'll." Clawdeen said as she stopped in middle of the hallway and face him. The others all stopped and turned towards her, with wide eyes.

"Clawdeen! No!" Clawd cried.

"Come back here!" Morty added.

Clawdeen then grabbed the canister of sticky stuff from the nerd monsters. "Hey, can I borrow this for a sec?"

"Uh… sure…" The nerd said, as Clawdeen raised the canister up high and dumped out its contents all over the floor. "Hey! What are you…?"

Clawdeen continued to pour the sticky substance on the hallway floor, and stepped back once Jaeger stepped on it. He tried to move but the sticky liquid made his feet completely immobile, frustrating him greatly.

"Ha! Too bad, so sad!" Clawdeen mocked the trapped Jaeger before running off and rejoining the others.

"Think that'll hold him?" Morty inquired.

"It should slow him down." Clawdeen stated, while Jaeger roared frustrated.

"You think so?" Jackson questioned, sounding nervous.

"Quick! Into the closet!" Clawd called out, pointing to the closet up ahead of them. They all quickly rushed into the closet one by one before Clawd closed it right behind them.

Inside the closet, there wasn't much room so they were all very close to each other, so much so that it was hard to move and any sort of movement made everyone shiver.

"Well this is uncomfortable…" Morty remarked, feeling the awkwardness in the air.

"Ya think?" Finn remarked.

"And it's the most cliché hiding place you could pick, bro." Clawdeen criticized him.

"Not to mention the most uncomfortable…" Cleo added. "There's no elbow room in here!"

Cleo tries to move and ends up hitting Jackson with her own elbow.

"Ow! My liver…" Jackson whined.

"Well sorry if I didn't take you 'the Bahamas' of hiding places, but at least were safe in here" Clawd said.

"For now." Morty pointed out.

"Yes… he could still be out there…" Sabrina pointed out.

"You mean… waiting for us to step out?" Lagoona asked, fearfully.

"Oh no…" Dracula gulped.

"You think he gone…?" Eunice asked, worried.

"I don't know…" Clawd said.

"Of course you don't, manster! We're stuck in here!" Rami pointed out, annoyed.

"Well I know that I can't breathe!" Clawdeen exclaimed, a bit muffled by all the bodies that were inside. "Let's get out of here already!"

They all then began to struggle and shake, making things even more uncomfortable.

"Hey! Hey! One at a time!" Morty told them. "I'll check first… since he's after me anyways…"

Morty began to make his way to the door but Eunice stopped him. "But Morty…" she said, looking very worried.

The human gives her and everyone else a reassuring glance. "Relax, It'll be ok." Morty told them. He looked to the door and sighed. "Ok… here goes nothing… or something."

Morty opened the door, slowly and poked his head out, then most of his body. The hallways seem to be completely empty.

"Is he gone now?" Frankie asked, expectedly and hopefully

"Yeah… I think so…" Morty observed as they all proceeded out a little more now. They looked around and saw that the hallways were empty.

"Where the heck did he go?" Clawdeen wondered, baffled.

"What? You want him to come back?" Finn remarked.

"Heck no, I'm just asking." The werewolf girl stated.

"Do… do you think he's gone for good?" Draculaura asked, hopefully.

"I wish I could believe that… I really do…" Morty confessed, as he and the others gazed around the seemingly empty hallways looking weary and fearful.
