Sorry kind of a short chapter, but on the plus side I'm now on break so I can update faster! YAY! Alright so here's the next chapter. I only own Gaby. Enjoy!

Chapter 10

Gaby lay in her bed staring at the window. She heard the door open but never looked over to see who it was. "How long has she been like this?" Cora asked staring at the blonde.

Maggie shook her head "Since she was discharged from the hospital. She hasn't moved, hasn't eaten, hasn't talked since…"

Cora nodded and moved towards the window the blonde was staring at "Gaby?" Gaby didn't even register the brunette werewolf's existence. "Gaby please, look at me…I don't know what to do."

Gaby's blue eyes met Cora's brown ones but she didn't say a word. "She's not gonna budge," Maggie said standing in the doorway "I've tried everything. Cora if she keeps going like this…she's going to die."

"We can't lose our only Alpha we need to get her to eat or something."

"You know what happens to mates when the other passes…Derek's dead and that means we only have a couple hours maybe a day or two left until Gaby dies too."

Scott and Stiles sighed from their seats on the back of a school bus. The Cross Country meet was the last thing on their minds. They constantly checked their phone to see if Gaby responded back. She never did. Stiles sighed and looked over as Scott groaned "No coach, I'm good!"

"Whoa Scott, you're bleeding again," Stiles said noticing the growing stain of blood seeping through the shirt "And don't tell me that it's just taking longer to heal, okay? Because I'm pretty sure that still bleeding is not healing, like, at all."

Scott nodded towards Ethan, one of the Alpha twins, "He's listening."

"Is he gonna do something?"

"Not in front of this many people."

"Okay, well, what about the two ticking time bombs sitting right near him?"

"No they won't. Not here."

"Because of Gaby?"

"No…if anything Gaby's situation would drive them to attack."

"Do they know how bad it is?"

Scott shrugged "We don't even know how bad she is."

Stiles sighed and texted the blonde one last time Scott still hasn't healed we might need help controlling Isaac and Boyd. Scott started to stand up "What…what..Scott? Where are you going?"

"Boyd. He's gonna do something."

"Okay, what? How do you know?"

"Look at his hands." The two looked at Boyd's clawed hands gripping the seat tighter and tighter as the seconds passed.

Cora stood at the escalator where Derek and Ennis fell. She looked around for any clue where their bodies could be. Gaby's life hung in the balance if she didn't find her brother soon. A noise from above her caused the brunette to stiffen and stand up ready to fight. Peter stood above her holding up a hand "It's just me, your uncle, Uncle Peter."

"Uncle Peter who killed sister Laura," Cora snapped back.

"Mhmm. Not my finest hour, no. But I'm hardly the only dysfunctional family member. Did Derek mention that he killed me, too? Slashed my throat, ear to ear."

"Yes, after you bit Gaby. Guess that means I should trust you now," Cora scoffed.

"Actually, I'm wondering if I can trust you."

"You've known me for seventeen years."

"I knew you for eleven, leaving the last six unaccounted for. And I'm not particularly fond of things unaccounted."

"What are you doing here?"

"Same as you…wondering where the bodies went. Wondering if they were carried out, or maybe if one of them managed to find enough strength to push themselves up off the floor and walk out, leaving the two of us standing here to answer the all-important question."

"Which one?"

"That's the real question isn't it?"

"Look, I'm here to help Gaby…our only remaining Alpha."

"Yes how is our dear Alpha doing? What stage is she on now? Mourning? Depression? Or the scariest of them all blind rage?"

"I don't know…she's catatonic at the moment."

"Well we need to go see her and snap her out of it."

"Why, you don't even like her. You never have."

"True…but she's still my Alpha…"

"Don't act like you have some sort of loyalty towards her. You don't care about her."

"Well I don't want to be an Omega with the Alpha pack running around."

Cora rolled her eyes "At least pretend to care about her when you see her…she just lost her mate…your nephew."

"Maybe…he could still be alive."

"Well let's not tell her anything until we know for sure."

Scott grabbed Boyd's clawed hand that was gripping the seat in front of him. "Let go," Boyd growled.

"You got a plan?" Scott asked him "tell me you're brilliant plan, and I'll let go. What are you gonna do? Kill him right here? And then what? What are you gonna do after that?"

"I don't care."

Boyd began struggling against Isaac and Scott's grips. "Gaby wouldn't want this," Isaac told him.

"Gaby hasn't moved, hasn't talked, hasn't eaten since she found out…I'm doing this for her."

"And look how well that turned out the last time someone did something for her. She lost the most important person in her life…she won't want to lose another pack member," Scott told him gripping Boyd's wrist tighter.

"Whoa, whoa, you're still hurt," Isaac said when he noticed the blood.

Boyd looked at him. "I'm fine," Scott answered "Give me a chance to figure something out, something that doesn't have to end with someone else dying."

"Okay," Boyd agreed.

Scott nodded and slowly got up. "Crisis averted?" Stiles asked as the werewolf made his way back to their seat.

"Mmm-hmm," Scott told him.

"Okay, good. Cause we got another problem. Ethan keeps checking his phone, like, every five minutes. It's like he's waiting for something you know, like, a message or a signal of some kind. I don't know something evil though, I can tell. I have a very perceptive eye for evil, but you know that."

"I don't like him sitting with Danny."

"Yeah, neither do I."

Stiles pulled out his phone "I'm gonna see who he's waiting for."

"What are you doing?"

"I'm gonna ask."

The door slowly opened revealing Cora. The brunette had tearstains all along her cheeks and a few fell when she met Gaby's eyes. "What's wrong?" Gaby asked her.

"I…I'm so…sorry," Cora sniffled.

Gaby slowly sat up wincing "Why do I feel like I've gotten hit with a train?" Cora said nothing she just sat down in the chair next to the bed. "Cora…what's wrong?"

"Derek…he…he"

Tears fell down the blonde's cheeks "What about him? Where is he?" Gaby began hyperventilating "Cora where is Derek? Why is he not here?"

"Gaby…I'm so sorry," Cora said.

The blonde burst into tears that quickly turned into hysterical sobs. "No! NO! NO! NO! Not him…please not him…" Cora grabbed Gaby as slowly started to lose control.

"What's going on in here?" Melissa asked hearing Gaby's cries.

"We need to get her outside…I think she's going to shift," Cora said pulling the blonde from the bed.

"There's an emergency exit right outside her room it leads to the roof."

Gaby felt herself being dragged out of her bed and down a hallway. Cora threw open the roof and pulled the blonde away from the door. Gaby continued hyperventilating before letting out a long howl. When she got no response the blonde collapsed onto the roof sobbing.

Gaby opened her eyes and tears instantly began falling down her cheeks. Cora kneeled in front of Gaby and gently rubbed her back. "Gaby…we need your help," she whispered hoping to get a response from her.

"Why him? Why did it have to be him?" Gaby sobbed.

"Well at least she's talking," Peter said from the doorway.

Gaby's head snapped over towards the older beta sending him a warning glare. Peter held up his hands "I'm just trying to help. We're all kind of at a loss right now. You're our leader…so lead us."

"…I…I can't…not without him," she whispered.

"Yes you can," Maggie told her sitting on her other side "they need your help. All you ever want to do is help people, so help them."

Gaby nodded "Okay…"

"What I'm about to tell you," Cora started "may or may not be true, so don't get your hopes up. I went back to the abandoned mall…and neither of the bodies were there. If someone were to take them where would they go?"

"If they were still hanging on…I'd take them to the animal clinic."

"Of course," Peter whispered.

"Thank you," Cora said squeezing the blonde gently.

"Cora," Gaby called out "if the Alphas grabbed Ennis they wouldn't have grabbed Derek as well…if Ennis is there more than likely Derek won't be."

"Let's hope he got up and walked out on his own then."

Gaby grabbed her phone that had been buzzing all morning. She had fifteen texts from Scott, twenty-two texts from Isaac, five from Boyd, and fifty from Stiles. Gaby read the last text Stiles sent and stiffened. She was quick to throw the covers off of her and pull on the first outfit she could find. "Gaby what's going on?" Maggie asked her.

The blonde threw her the phone "I need to go."

"Gaby maybe you shouldn't…"

"I'm not letting Scott die and I'm not letting Isaac or Boyd kill Ethan."

She grabbed the keys to the Camaro and ran out the door clutching her phone. Gaby sent Stiles a quick message before speeding off. I'm on my way. Tell him to hold on.

The blonde sped down the highway thankful that there were no cops out today. Her phone ringing caught her attention "Stiles?"

Stiles sighed "Oh it's good to hear your voice Gabs…how are you?"

Gaby paused "How's Scott?"

"Not good…he's bleeding black blood."

"Where are you?"

"We're about to pull into a rest stop in like two minutes."

"Ok I'll be there in five."

Gaby pushed on the accelerator a bit harder and continued speeding her way towards the rest stop they were at. Five minutes later her car skidded to a stop behind the bus and tried to look for Scott and Stiles. She saw Stiles and Lydia coming out of the bathroom men's restroom. "Gaby," Lydia called out.

"What's going on?"

"Scott's not letting himself heal, because of Derek," Stiles told her.

"What?"

"He blames himself for Derek's death."

Gaby shook her head "It's not his fault."

"Well we know that, but he doesn't."

"You should go see him," Lydia said "hearing it from you might help him as well. Tell him you don't believe it's his fault Derek died."

Gaby's heart clenched as the words fell out of Lydia's mouth. The redhead started to apologize but Gaby shook her head "It's fine I'll go in there."

The blonde ran into the restroom as Allison was attempting to thread a needle. She could see the hunter's hands shaking so she kneeled next to her and grabbed Allison's hands. Allison looked at the blonde and nodded before taking a deep breath and threaded the needle. The huntress began quickly stitching Scott up.

"Okay," Allison said pulling away from her work "Scott."

The beta didn't respond Gaby's heart stopped when she only heard one heartbeat "SCOTT!" she cried out. "No…no I can't…I can't lose you…not now!" Gaby sobbed grabbing his hand.

"Scott!" Allison called out again. He gasped for air causing the two girls to sigh in relief.

"It's my fault," Scott panted.

"Scott," Gaby whispered getting his attention "It's not your fault."

"Derek's dead because of me."

She shook her head "I don't blame anyone for Derek's death…especially you. So stop beating yourself up about this."

Scott nodded and looked down at his stomach "Did you do that?"

"Yeah," Allison answered.

"Nice."

The brunette let out a small laugh "Can you stand?" Gaby and Allison both helped him stand up. "Here put this on," Allison told him sliding on a fresh shirt.

The two girls helped him walk out of the restroom. Lydia ran up to them "Is he okay? Are you okay?"

Scott nodded "Yeah. Stiles. Where's Stiles?"

"Trying to stall coach. We still don't have gas."

"I'm not leaving him," Allison told the redhead.

"Then we have to leave the car."

"Sounds good."

"What? That wasn't an actual suggestion. Allison wait."

The four of them walked towards a group of kids surrounding a fight. "Stiles what's happening?" Scott asked.

"They went after him," Stiles answered "I told him what was happening with you, and he just went after him."

"Who?" Gaby asked.

"Isaac," he answered.

Stiles quickly traded spots with Gaby as the blonde ran up to her beta. Isaac was beating Ethan senseless. She may not like the twins, but this certainly wasn't the way to handle the situation. "Isaac!" Gaby screamed grabbing his arm. He simply pulled out of her grasp and threw another punch. "ISAAC!" Gaby shouted allowing her eyes to glow red knowing no one else could see them.

Isaac froze and dropped Ethan. He slowly turned around and looked at his alpha. "Gaby," he whispered and hung his head in shame "I…"

"I know," Gaby told him "Trust me I know."

"Myers?" Finstock yelled walking up to the blonde.

Gaby sighed and turned to look at him "Yes coach?"

"What are you doing here? No never mind I don't want to know."

Gaby opened her mouth to speak, but Finstock blew the whistle in her face. She tried it three more times getting the same result. The blonde sneezed and held up her hands in surrender. She turned back towards Isaac and Boyd.

"Okay everyone back on the bus," Finstock ordered.

"You should go," Gaby nodded towards the bus. Isaac nodded and walked towards the bus with Boyd following him. "Hey guys!" she shouted at the two betas. They looked back at her "Let me know how you guys do alright?"

Boyd and Isaac smiled at her and nodded. "You're leaving?" Scott asked.

"I…I can't be here right now, Scott. I just needed to make sure you were okay."

"This…this is all my fault."

"Hey," Gaby said grabbing his arm "we talked about this…none of this is your fault…De…Derek being dead has nothing to do with you. I don't blame you so you shouldn't either. Call me on your way home."

Scott nodded "I will." He walked towards Stiles, Lydia, and Allison and into the bus.

Gaby quickly got into the car and started it up, before she could get on the road her cell phone rang she looked at the caller id and saw Derek flash on the screen. "If this is some kind of sick joke…it's not funny…not even remotely funny," she snapped as tears ran down her face again.

"Gaby?" Ms. Blake said into the phone.

"Ms. Blake how did you get Derek's phone?" she asked jealousy now coursing through her veins.

"Uh…he gave it to me….um here…"

"Gaby," Derek said weakly into the phone.

The blonde gasped "Derek? Oh my God! You're…you're alive?"

*PreetSalvatore: Thank you! And sorry for the long wait! The next one will be up sooner since I am on break now.

*Atlafan1286: Sorry you didn't get many fight scenes! I just couldn't find a good way to throw Gaby in there with her being in the hospital and everything.

*Readingbeyondyourvocab: LOL! I'm glad this I make this story hard not to read…it means I must be doing something right! I believe emotional drama is good for a story, plus I needed to throw in a curve ball or two in their seemingly perfect relationship. Otherwise that would be soooo boring.

*lijahsgirl: Thank you I'm glad you like this story. EEK! Sorry this took so long!
