Reefside Hospital
Kim wheeled the chair down the hill towards her brother, her nephew and Joey she had presumed because he was in the wheelchair waving at her with a wide smile on his face.." Good Afternoon guys."
Ethan leaned down and kissed his sister on top of her forehead.." Hey Kim, how are you feeling."
" I'm feeling good, I'm out of the hospital and I'm so ready to go home."
" I'd bet, but before you do I want to introduce you Joey Stiller."
Kim made eye to eye contact with Joey.." Hello Joey, nice to meet you."
Joey shook his head from side to side.." No ma'am Mrs. Oliver the pleasure is all mine."
All of the girls were beaming at the politeness and smile Joey directed towards Kimberly as the group of adults stepped away from the three of them
Tommy removed his phone and dialed a number then he brought the phone to his ear
" Hey Tommy."
" Hayley, we are gonna be leaving soon."
" Good, i'll meet you all back at the house."
" Alright, see you two soon." Tommy said to his friend as he ended the call and glanced at his wife and her little companions
Everyone else focused their attention back on the trio as well
" Mrs. Oliver when Ej told me about your accident I cried but I also said a prayer for you because I know that this accident may have knocked you down but it will not knock you out." Joey stated
Kim wiped away at her tears.." Thank you for praying for me Joey which I know for sure that it was accounted for along with the others."
Joey nodded his head with a wide smile still on his face.." But both of our situations are different Mrs. Oliver, but however different they are we are unstoppable when we set our minds to do something."
" Yes we are Joey, Ej has informed me on how active you are and he also told me part of your history to get me to realize that life will give you up and downs but you must never pity yourself."
Joey glanced over at his friend who just rocked back on the balls of his feet whistling
Both Kim and Joey just shook their heads
" My mother gave me some words of wisdom that I would like to pass onto you."
" Okay."
" Never give up, Never throw a fit, Never let anyone tell you that you can't do anything, Never tell anyone that just because you are in a wheelchair that you just exclude me from any game you want to, and there other ways of getting things done when you need them done."
" Well Joey you can tell your mother that her words of encouragement really mean alot to me."
" Okay I will and just to let you know Mrs. Oliver, my mother is a fan of yours and she was really happy that you impressed the world with your gymnastics aerial flips and the beam and floor routines were her favorites I have never seen my mother glued to her tv." Joey exclaimed exuberantly then he leaned forward.." Just don't tell her that I told you about that."
" That will be our little secret." Kim said softly
Joey just nodded his head.." I know that you are feeling down and I would have loved to be able to stand up and walk around like everyone else, but then I realize that I am the way he made me." Joey exclaimed as he pointed up towards the sky
Kim smiled knowingly as she caught onto the gesture.." Yes we all are special."
Joey smiled as he reached into his shirt pocket and removed a rainbow colored stone.." I painted this for you Mrs. Oliver and I hope that whenever you feel discouraged you glance at this stone and know that you have me always thinking and praying for you." Joey explained as he held out the stone
Kim reached over and picked the stone up and brought it closer to her as she flipped the stone over admiring the unique patterns.." Thank you Joey I will always treasure this."
Ethan jr turned his head to the side and discreetly tried to wipe away his tears.." I have something in my eyes."
Kim and Joey laughed as the two of them shared a wink
The adults all came over to the trio and Kim smiled at them all
" Okay you three, it's time for us to leave." Ethan informed his son and his best friend.
" It was really nice meeting you Mrs. Oliver."
" Same here Joey you are truly and inspiration." Kim stated
Joey shifted his chair backwards then he watched as Ethan bent down and kissed his sister on the cheek and hugged her goodbye quickly followed Ethan Jr.
" See you later guys." Kim and the entire group of people chorused
" Take care." Ethan exclaimed as he and the two boys smiled and waved their hands
Tommy bend down in front of his wife.." So what do you say beautiful, let's head on home."
Kim nodded her head but gave no verbal response
Everyone started heading towards their vehicles and once Tommy got to his Caroline and Pierre got in the back seat and Tommy lifted Kim up out of her seat and gingerly placed her inside the truck
Kim reached over and buckled her seat belt on her own
Tommy closed the door then he went around to the back of his truck and when he opened the door he focused on folding the wheelchair and once that part was done he picked it up and set inside the vehicle then closed the door and made his way around to the driver's seat. The three occupants inside the car silently watched him start the engine, back up and then put the car into drive as he moved truck through the pathway and out of the hospital lot with their family and friends in tow
The Oliver's Home
Hayley had entered the house twenty minutes later with Megan in her carseat.." Okay little one."
Megan smiled and waved her hands in the air at Hayley
" What do you say we get Mommy a little welcoming home party."
" Maaaaamaaaaa." Megan babbled
Hayley unbuckled the straps and carefully moved her hands underneath Megan's little body and lifted her out of the seat.." All of your Uncles did one hell of job by making everything alot accessible towards Kim independance, don't you agree sweetie."
Megan yawned in response
Hayley just laughed as she moved about the house eyeing everything while she waited for Tommy and the crew to arrive, and she didn't have to wait any longer
Tommy pulled into the yard and parked near the house
Kim glanced out the window and immediately the tears started to build up seeing the side ramp leading onto the porch
Their friends and family all waited outside near their vehicles as Tommy pulled the wheelchair out of the back and then sat it upright on the ground and locked it in place then he wheeled it next to the passenger's door
Kim unbuckled her seatbelt and then she opened the door
" You ready beautiful."
" Yeah I'm ready Handsome." Kim answered as she allowed Tommy to lift her up and out of the car and transferred into the wheelchair
Tommy stood back and Kim took that as her cue to move the wheelchair across the yard and up towards the ramp
Hayley opened the door and came out of the house onto the porch.." Hello Kim."
Kim pushed the handle down and the chair moved up the ramp and over towards Hayley.." Hi Hayley."
" Hello Kim, how are you feeling."
" I'm feeling okay, I'm glad to be out of the hospital."
Hayley just smiled in response as she lowed herself down and gently transferred her little niece into her mother's awaiting arms.." Billy and them did a wonderful job inside."
" I wouldn't have expected nothing but the best from them, they really looked out for me." Kim exclaimed as she smiled at her friends
Hayley stood up and side stepped, allowing Kim to move pass her and inside the house followed by everyone else
Kim stared around the living room seeing everything that she hasn't seen since the bank robbery then she moved the chair over to the lift
" The stairs can slide in and the lift will be revealed with just a push of this button see." Billy implied as he showed everyone what he done
And everyone stood in amazement
" Thank you Billy." Kim stated
" Your welcome Kim, but that's not all we all went throughout the house and made every adjustment we could think of in order to make this small roadblock a little less troublesome." Jason added as that was the cue to let all of the guys show everyone what they accomplished
Kim felt so overwhelmed that she had tears coming down her face..." Guys I don't know how much I can repay you all for what you have done for me."
" Kim if we could change positions with you we would, but it's just another uphill battle that we all will burden until we see you up and out of that chair." Zack implied as their other friends all agreed with him."
" And I know that if we had ended up in this chair, I know that you would do everything we are able to do for you for any of us that this accident had happened to." Tanya injected
" Because after all Kimberly, the bond we have will never be broken." Kat added
" And I am very grateful to have all of you here to motivate and help me and Tommy." Kim exclaimed
" We wouldn't be the people we are today if didn't do what we could to help out anyone of us in need." Trini applied as everyone else nodded in agreeement
The parents of Kimberly and Tommy just stood back and watched how their children's friends came through for them and it made them feel so lucky to see that firsthand
I've decided to end the chapter there for I have lost my muse and then I heard about some unsettling news so just please hang in there with me and please if you could show me some review love
