A/N:As I'm not very well versed with psychotherapy, I'm not going to focus very much on the sessions with Dr Burke in detail unless there is a specific cause to do so. We'll look at the issue from Caskett's point of view.
Also, to the guest reviewer who said that Dr Burke appeared to be too harsh on Castle: Dr Burke is testing Castle. He does not know what the issue is and he's fishing around for clues. The whole situation appears in a different light to him. I hope that helps. Pardon me for my errors.
Thank you all you guys for supporting me so much on this story. I'm sorry I could not reply to all of you but my computer is down. I'm typing and posting all of these on my phone. Special thanks to TORONTOSUN for being there from the beginning.

The loft was silent, for once. Silence is solace, Castle thought. For once, he could go about his writing uninterrupted by the outside world. And although his mind was caught in a whirl of emotions, constant images of Kate baring her heart out to the trusted psychologist flooding his sight, this little measure of peace and solitude would make a big difference to aid his purpose. The words seemed to float on the keyboard, his fingers whirring effortlessly. His brain, fuelled on coffee, engulfed by emotions, propelled into a frenzy of imagination. Scenarios ran through his mind like the ceaseless reel of a black and white movie. Not once did he pause more than five minutes to look up from the screen. All nature's calls- hunger, thirst- all seemed to disappear. He couldn't remember the last time he'd gone this far without stopping. The stillness, although greatly appreciated could not make up for the absence of the company of his muse. But it did do wonders to reduce the time he spent apart from her. And so in a flurry of adrenaline, sheer excitement pulsing through him, imagining himself entrenched in the same cul-de-sac as his beloved characters, he wrote. Until the dull throbbing of his tired back and his grumbling stomach awoke him from his conscious slumber.
It had been three and a half hours since he'd opened his laptop. Three hours thirty minutes since Kate had left for her morning appointment with Dr Burke. Instantaneously his mind supplied- 'I should call her'.

He could hear the bustle of the late morning precinct as Kate's hushed voice came through.

"Hey Castle."

"Hey. How was Dr Burke's?"

"It was a start. He said thats a good thing. It won't be as painful as the last time but I think we should be just fine. At least...Not as broken..."

"You know I'm awfully proud of you."

"What for?"

"The way you handle yourself. In every situation. With such grace and strength."

"You know most of that grace and strength comes because I know you're always there to have my back. "

"And I wouldn't want any other back to have. How goes the investigation? Have you brought Roger in for questioning yet?"

"Nah. We ran background checks on him. He's a regular d-bag. Multiple counts of extortion, theft and 1 for assault. Ryan and Espo went to his apartment but he is off the grid. "

"Told ya."

"Neighbours said he left yesterday night in his black sedan. We've got nothing to tie him to the murder so we can't get a warrant. The boys are running his plates by the transit authorities and I'm going to meet the aunt this afternoon and see about that job of our vic's. Will you be joining me?"

"Nope. I've just got a few final chapters of the book done and then I'll be free."

"Well I'll see you in the evening then?"

"Ya. But if you bring Roger into interrogation, Call me. Wouldn't want to miss your first beatdown back from sick leave now, would I?"

"Beatdown? Its not WWF. Calm down, Castle."

"I can't. Too much is at stake."

Even over the phone, he could imagine her smiling wide at his goofiness.

"See ya later babe."

"See ya."

After pleasing his growling tummy, he went back to writing. Another five hours flashed by. A yawn escaped him just as he was beginning to put the finishing touches on his final chapter. He glanced at his watch. 5.30 pm. Had he really spent the ENTIRE day writing? He wanted to see Gina's jaw drop when he told her he was done with the book. Feeling proud of himself, he decided to celebrate with a bowl of ice cream. He sent a quick text to Kate:
'Finished writing! Can't wait to kick butt w/ you on this case!'
She replied:
'Good to have my partner back. Be home soon.'

He sat on the couch and waited for her, for once, strangely revelling in the silence. No machines or remote-controlled toys, just his thoughts seemed adequate company.

'So this is what space feels like', he thought.
He had never before been able to fathom why Kate always liked the quiet. Why she always said that thinking clearly was a solo sport or why she ran off into her shell when she was sad or angry or why she always claimed that her resilience came from silent introspection.

This was where she built her walls. But also found her inner peace. Her calm. Her cool. Her stoic resolution. Her focus. Her objectivity. Maybe a little space wasn't THAT bad. Maybe HE just wasn't used to rely on himself. And with his unstable, colourful childhood, was he really to blame? But Kate was different. In more than one way. He had come to terms with that from the beginning. They were building their life together now. Shouldn't he be more supportive of her coping mechanisms? After all, he was only looking at the times when they didn't work.

Surely, there must be times that he didn't know of when they had worked out for her? Surely, there was some method to her madness? Surely, there was some way he could understand her approach better, some way he could acknowledge that it would work for her? Surely, she wasn't the only person who had opted to use them? Surely she wasn't the only blind-to-the-obvious, driven, determined woman on the planet? Surely there was some way he could fit into her method?

Internet. He needed to find out more. He needed to know more. He HAD to discover more. On his feet in the blink of an eye, he strode to his study and flipped open his laptop.

A/n: So! There you go. Something different. Yay? Nay? Cant tell? Please please review. I beg of you.
