He sat in a chair, at the beach. The sea in front, the blue sky over and the warm sand under him. He could smell, almost taste the salt in the air. He looked around, no one was there, he was by himself at this beach, so he stood up and walked towards the water. Half way there he stopped an pressed his feet in the sand and enjoyed the light scratching. With his head laid in his neck he soaked in the air and sighed as he continued his way to the water. Not much further and he placed his food in the refreshing cool blue. It took him just a few seconds and he found himself running into the water. With a few powerful strokes he brought some distance between himself and the beach.

After a few minutes of swimming he just laid on his back and let the waves drift him around. This was just perfect, nothing could ruin this.

What was that?

He felt something tingling at his leg.

As he scratched his leg he heard something.

What is that?

It sounded not so far away.

There is it again.

He looked back to the beach. Nothing.

What is that?

It's getting louder.

It sounds like someone is crying.

"Hello, is there somebody?"

No response. Just crying.

He turned back and returned to the beach, as the crying was getting louder. Now the water was rougher. The Sky has turned from blue to dark grey. He had to fight the waves to reach the beach.

The crying was gone but a storm has built up and just a few strokes away from the beach, a wake caught him, pulled him under water and didn't let him go any more.

He jolted up and turned his head immediately. No water, no beach. It was cold and windy in the room. He could hear that it was heavily raining outside. He was at home, in their apartment, inside the bed without the bedding. Everything lay beside the bed.

He looked at the right side of the bed.

The empty right side of the bed.

Zoe wasn't in bed anymore.

As he stood up to search for her, he recognized that the balcony door at the other side of the room was open. He crossed the room and as he reached the door, Zoe stood there with her back turned to him, crying, without any doubt.

She was soaking wet from the rain, and shaking.

Spirits, how long is she out there?

He stepped outside, not recognized by her.

"Hey, lil girl." He purred, as he stood behind her.

She jumped a little. He recognized that she wiped of the tears before she turned around to him.

She gulped.

"Hey. Sorry. I… I didn't want to wake you up. I couldn't sleep, and wanted to grab some fresh air."

She said with a smile. A very fake smile as he knew too well.

"I can see that you were crying. Tell me what's bothering you."

She turned around.

"Quite a view from up here, isn't it?"

He sighed.

"Zoe, my love. Don't you ever do this to me."

"What are you…"

He closed in, grabbed her shoulder and turned her around again.

"Turn away from me and keep your problems to yourself. I'll be there for you, till the end of time."

Tears were forming in her eyes and he pulled her tight to his chest.

She was sobbing and pressed her face tight to him.

He stroked her head with his left hand, holding her tight with his right.

Stupid Turian… Couldn't you wake up earlier?

The minutes went by and they just stood out there in the rain. He had started purring for her, knowing that it'll help her calm down.

"Now tell me what's bothering you, Zoe."

She looked up in his face, biting her lip and fighting back another wave of tears.

"Its… Its everything you know?"

He didn't respond, just looked her right in the eyes, right in the soul.

"So much death… so many good people died. As I was up there at the citadel, caught under all that rubble, I… I saw them. I saw Thane, Mordin even Kaidan, blaming me for their deaths. And you want to know what's the worst thing about it? I was glad that it was them being dead not me. I was so damn glad about it. What kind of person is thinking such things?"

He lowered his head, so that their foreheads touched.

"A person who has something to life for."

She sighed and looked away.

"You said it yourself, there is no Vakarian without a Shepard. Never forget that. I need you. I love you. I'll always do." His heart was pounding in his chest. He gently stroke her cheek as he turned her head back to him.

"There is nothing that could ever change that. My mind, my heart, my spirit will be yours forever. No Collectors, no Reapers, not even the God's their selves can take that away."

He kissed her.

"Zoe Shepard…"

He started slightly to hyperventilate.

Ok… now or never… breathe Vakarian, breathe… In, out, in, out, out... no wrong… aaargh get a grip. You haven't said something in a while… come ooohooon you are just staring absently.

You killed Reapers… You can do this…

She looked at him, a little confused.

"Hey big guy, everything alright?"

From one moment to another he was down on one of his knee.

She was staring at him with wide eyes.

Spirits I hope I'm doing this right.

"Zoe Shepard. I… I… I have no idea what to say now, because my mind is empty. But would you like to make me the happiest Turian in the Galaxy and marry me?"

His mouth was dryer than any desertplanet in the universe as he looked in to her eyes, which were wide open, just like her mouth.

"Y… Are… Holy shit Garrus!"

Stupid Turian… you should've…

"Of course I will!" She smiled at him, the biggest smile he has ever seen on her face.

Now it was his turn to stare at her with wide open eyes and mouth.

She pulled him up and kissed him.

"Really?" he asked totally stunned.

She smiled at him and kissed him again.

"Yeah Really! I think I have to cancel that meeting with Vega" She grinned at him.

"Wanna go back inside?!" She said with a twinkle.

Finally he got a grip.

"Why? You are already wet, Mrs. Vakarian.

hope you had fun =)
