Elove was yelling at me again.

I was really hoping that I wouldn't go into my usual habit of walking on my hands and feet today, but I did. I moaned to myself, getting up and cleaning the dirt off my hands.

We were in a forest, heading to a village that Elove and I frequent. I don't really like going there because the villagers look at me funny, which I'm use to already, but I don't like scaring the newbies. Although I did have a way to hide my true form, I usually don't bring my headphones when going to the village. It's my way of showing how lucky they got.

There was a slight breeze and Elove's hair was tousled. As she was fixing it, giving us a short break, I caught a strange scent. Blood. I then heard something running, which was drastically slowing down. I left my position next to Elove to go and investigate.

I wasn't even ten meters away when I felt something evil rush on me. I instinctively began to growl. It was another habit of mine that I had trouble getting rid of.

I dropped to the ground, not out of habit, but to heighten my own senses. When I'm closer to the ground, I could easily feel when someone was walking or if someone was nearby. If everything was quiet enough, I could hear ones heartbeat, just by sensing the slight thumping that caused the ground to shake ever so slightly. It came in handy when someone tries to randomly attack you because they claim that they got scared. I roll my eyes at that notion, but c'est la vie, that's life for you.

As I got closer to the source, I saw a person. My growling had gotten louder and it seemed to have caught the person's attention. I got a good look at him and I knew exactly what he was. He didn't have extra features like me, but he had that evil aura around him, accompanied with power. Lots of it.

He had a slight tan like Elove but just a smidge lighter. His hair was a lighter brown than my own and he was wearing gray clothes, or was it just a really light black?, which was old and torn a bit. There was also an amulet around his neck with a purple center, which glowed very dimly. It was that, that made me realize he had some sort of ominous power in his body, something that wasn't his own. This amulet was trapping whatever was inside him. It had the same properties as my headphones.

I got closer to him very slowly, in case he would randomly attack. My wings shuffled on their own and my tail was viciously swaying behind me. He made me uneasy. His eyes were barely open, but I still saw pain in them. I examined him more carefully to see a large blood stain on his shirt near the hip. That's probably where the blood scent was coming from.

I wasn't alone with him for very long. I heard footsteps running around frantically. They were light and stealthy but yet they were loud. They were Elove's. I heard her running this way and I started to worry myself now. What if this guy attacked her? I knew I should bring him back with me, but Elove's safety seemed more important to me at that moment. I was about to leave this guy, hoping that he would be able to take care of himself, before Elove got any closer before I heard her yelling for me. I hadn't realized how close she had gotten before I heard her voice, which was practically behind me now. The person had heard her too and started to move. I growled even louder, hoping my threat would stop his struggles.

Elove seemed to have seen me first and not notice the injured guy in front of me because she started to yell at me for being on the ground again and for growling.

It wasn't until the person started to weakly ask for help that Elove finally noticed him. She tried nearing him but I increased my volume of noise to try and stop her but to no avail. She couldn't see or sense this bad energy that was emanating from him, so she had no worries. She neared the person as I got up on my two legs again but staying a few steps short of Elove. I had quieted down when Elove whispered to me to shush up. The person's eyes were now closed but I got the feeling he was still awake.

Elove was trying to comfort him, telling him that she would be right back with bandages or whatever and that I would stay with him until she got back. We weren't too far from the house but I didn't want to stay with him. I was just glad that something came up which prevented just that.

I heard running and shouting and it wasn't too long before Elove noticed as well. She got up and looked around us. We were clearly surround by at least twenty other people. Now these people, they were trouble, unlike the person behind me. One of them yelled at us to hand over the person who was now behind Elove and Elove yelled right back questioning who they were. Although I knew who they were and I definitely knew that Elove knew as well. She just wanted to hear them say it. She wanted some motivation to fight, something she hadn't done for quite a while.

She mumbled to me, asking or more like telling to prepare for a battle. I gave her a grin and a small nodded and went to stand right next to her. I was now in front of the person she was trying to protect. I already didn't like this person but I knew the minute I saw him I had to speak to him. Even if I couldn't talk myself, I would find a way.

I sensed him struggle a bit and I turned around to see what he might be doing.

His eyes had opened just a tiny bit but enough for me to see that he was inspecting our situation. I opened my mouth, about to growl again until I made eye contact with him. He looked desperate, but there was also something else about his eyes. I thought I saw them flash milk white for a second, but I completely discarded that fact.

I turned back around facing our enemy. They each had an iron sword, but seemed to have been already used unlike Elove's which was brand new. I just hand my bare hands. I stretched my wings and at that moment I sensed the guy's consciousness leave him. Now I really had to protect him. I could have just picked up Elove and flown away with her so that she wouldn't get hurt but this person was important. He's the only other hybrid I know of beside myself.

I smiled, happy to know I wasn't the only one now and charged for the Over guards.
